  • In this adventure I head to The Beech Caves located just outside of the city of Stoke On Trent in Staffordshire! It's believed that these huge man made caves date back to 1633 and have had a variety of uses of the years. In this video I head inside The Beech Caves and take a detailed look around!

We had many or good raves back in these caves, in fact they are really famous with in the Stoke on Trent dance scene in the 90, we had some wild raves in them, great djing experiences, I will share this video, as it will course a really good talking topic on social media, nice one Shawn 👍🎵

Shawn, in the South of the Netherlands ( between Maastricht and Valkenburg) ( Only part in the Netherlands with hills) you will Find 200 Miles of man Made caves. A few are open for the public ( St Pieter Maastricht; Gemeentegrot Valkenburg). It is in the same provincie where Toverland is at. You can combine a visit with the small park De Valkenier in Valkenburg. Sure you gonna like it.

The new bricks were placed when it was used as a bomb store for The Royal Ordinance Factory at Swynnerton during WW2. Just for reverence, the parties there in the late 80’s early 90’s. were banging.

I agree with you about the graffiti, it spoils so many sites. The artists do actually have some talent in what they produce, it’s just a shame they have to use the skills and to the detriment of historical sites. Thank you for a great video, cheers Peter

I visited Beech Caves in 1945 but was not allowed entry. They were guarded by dogs and military people. Being only 7, I pouted.
Nearby is Swynnerton, where during WW2 shells and bombs were made; and the caves were used as a finished-product warehouse impervious to German bombing raids, which were inaccurate but not infrequent. Of our visit my father wrote in his diary that in the roads outside the caves "hundreds of RAF" trucks were parked; ready presumably to haul the unused bombs away ready for the next war...

The interesting marks on the wall are climbing holes to reach the top where you can look out of the cave... used to go up with the lads back in the day, only a couple of us were brave enough to go up as its not as easy climb as it looks and getting down isn't easy either.
Im thinking about making another visit to these caves soon as I'm hoping to start my own channel, will definitely be going up there if I do

Thankyou for showing us. Intriguing place. I wonder if it was used as a bomb-shelter during WW2? Or used to conceal some sort of facility? I don't know if Stoke was bombed a lot but in some towns that were, people used to walk out of the town & find places to sleep at night. People used to walk about two miles out of Plymouth & Portsmouth & sleep under hedges & haystacks. It would really help if some people did a litter-pick there.

Amazing! Are the caves carved out from sandstone? Sad that the caves are filled with litter and graffiti.
It would be good to have a clean up day to remove rubbish and paint over that awful graffiti with similar toned paint to the natural rock colour.....but I suppose that would be in vain as stupid people would just do it all over again.
    Thank you anyway Shawn.
