I got one yesterday and am so glad I got to this video. It's very informative while being laid-back. I am excited to dive into this device and what it can offer. I still will keep my 2023 New Kindle for the portability factor. Thanks!
I always said that I would be so happy if my Kindle was larger, so the Scribe is my dream come true! Now I have, not only my dream size, but I can also take notes and even journal with it. If it doesn't do anytbing else, but continues to do what it does well, I'll contnue to be happy!
I LOVE this!! Thank you for making this comment! I agree with you 100%. The Scribe is fantastic for reading and taking notes . . . and it's getting better at both. 😍
I’ve been reading on the kindle paper white and absolutely love it but just order the scribe which is coming today, I’ve been wanting it for a while now and finally ordered it yesterday, just found your video now and its been so helpful, I will keep coming back to it to help me with my scribe, thanks for this video and I’m now getting use to your channel which I love, thank you 🙏
I have the Kindle Scribe. Unfortunately it does not have compatibility with many of the Kindle books I bought. I hope it will have an updated software in the near future, that will make it compatible to all Kindle books.
Oh, that stinks! Hopefully they will address it with an update soon. Are the books that you're having problems with ones that work on the Fire but not on black and white Kindles, or do they work on the smaller Kindles but not the Scribe?
@@fitdaniellereads Unsure of all that it is available for. It seems they are all available the Fire and all other Kindles (E-Readers and Apps). I think only unavailable for the Scribe. Scribe is great for manga!!!! I love mine. I use it for school, work, Journaling, reading, pdfs for hw, and of course reading books! If I have my phone and my scribe I am good to go for the day!
I have had kindle for a few years now. I started on the basic one. Then I got the paperwhite. I actually used both of them. I have read hundreds of books. I loved my paperwhite. I like that it fits in my purse. I just had a birthday and my husband got me the kindle scribe. I thought I wouldn't like it because it's so big. I like that I can write in it and use it for journaling, making lists, appointments and also I plan on using using it for bible study. I also like that the page split. I set it to landscape and I am able to read two pages like a real book. I am also excited to try downloading pdf's. I want to try the write on books you mentioned and read the newspaper. 😊
I love my Scribe, too. Got it as a Christmas present from hubby, and I use it every day. It sits on the table next to my recliner, and is the perfect companion to my iPad; I use them for very different tasks, and wouldn’t want to be without either one.
Great review! I’m so glad you love the Scribe-I sure do. There are a few reviews that complain about things like the weight. Have they not lugged a hardcover book around? The Scribe is like reading a beautiful hardcover page without the heft. For me, the note taking is a bonus. Again, great review - thank you!
I read on the paperwhite but also digital on a iPad so thinking about purchasing the scribe and getting rid of the iPad as it seems like it will be better for digital planning as it’s more paper like
I'm thinking of buying a Scribe and was looking for a video on the updates. This is perfect, thanks. The sketching tools looks usable now, super interested. Did they add the ability to use layers?

Yes! You can have what you’re reading (either a pdf or a book) take up the whole screen and open the settings menus to make changes when you need them. Is that what you mean?
This is a strange question, but when I read I alway write the names of characters as they come up ,because I may lay down the book for a view days come back and forget who’s who. Is there an easy place to list all the character names in one place. without going in and out of the book to notes? Oh yes. Is there a function that will allow me to touch the screen without the page turning - (Finger reader -if you know you know)😂
For a place to list the characters -- you can open a note on one of the first pages of the book and just jot your character names and thoughts down there. I'm not sure how many lines you can add to a note, but if you run out of room, you can just start another note. There is also the "x-ray" feature in many books on Kindle. You can find some great information in there. As far as touching the screen without turning pages, if you click the 3-dots on the right side of the upper menu, you'll see "disable touchscreen". You can still swipe to turn the page but touching the screen won't do anything. I hope this helps! Happy Reading!!
No. Unfortunately, the Scribe doesn't interact with Google docs. You can email docs to yourself from your Scribe and drag and drop docs onto the Scribe from a computer (or tablet, probably, but I haven't tried it). But I know that's not what you're asking. So . . . the answer to your question is no.
You've nailed it. For that huge price, I'd buy this thing only if it had colors (and a good color display, that does not exists, so far). Only in that case the big display and the ability to display pdf files would be really a benefit. Big display, easy pdf (and color) would be good to read technical papers, and to annotate it thanks to the pen. But as it is now? No, thank you. The big advantage of ebook readers as a whole is their portability: they're light and can fit a purse / bag, so you can throw them in and go reading in the bus, on a train, on the beach etc. etc. But as you say, this would not fit. So, for hundreds of dollars what do you get? A (admittedly good) huge ereader that you can only use on the couch, maybe not even to read in bed, that you can only use to read novels and possibly newspapers... For any other use, it is lacking something (most notably colors if you want to use it for comics or tech papers). And ON TOP OF THAT, you must also buy a smaller ereader to read while on the go. No thanks. A great technolgy (although there are better eink notebooks), but as a whole a big no-no for readers.
I 100% agree with everything that you said. I have had viewers comment that they use the scribe to read in bed, but I have only done that once. I was annotating a book for bookclub, so I wanted the benefit of the big screen, but I was SO tired that I wanted to go to bed . . . so I used the Scribe in bed to read/annotate that book and then switched to my Paperwhite to read before I fell asleep. TOTALLY proving your point. 😂
I love my Kindle Voyage due to the squeeze to turn pages. It is my nighttime reader as it requires the least amount of effort for page turns. I have a paperwhite for daytime use, and the app on my phone, of course. I think the scribe seems pretty fun, but it's expensive! I love the idea of not having to turn the page so often like with the small screens. If they let us write ON the pages of books, I would be convinced to make the leap.
Yes!! You hit it exactly . . . the Scribe is fun, but it's bulky and spendy. I SO wish that we could write directly on book. I thought that the Supernote tablet was going to allow us to do that on Kindle books, but (spoiler for an upcoming video) no, the Kindle app on the Supernote works just like the other ones do.
Does anyone know how to increase the sleep mode time out on a Scribe? When I am using it for note taking and there is no activity for a while it will go into sleep mode and it takes too much time to re-enter password and jot down the note
Unfortunately, I don't think that there is any way to increase the sleep time. The only thing that I've been able to find (and I don't know if this will be helpful since you have a password) is to turn off the power saver so that the device will wake-up faster. It's not a solution, but it might help a bit.
No. Unfortunately, that's one of the functions of the other e-tablets that Amazon hasn't added to The Scribe yet. Hopefully, they will be adding it in a future update.
I want the scribe so bad! It'd be great to read PDFs about latin stuff that I'm learning in my spare time, I can't afford it now. But I'm using a 2017 paperwhite and reading "Porject Hail Mary" from Andy Weir

If having dark mode applied to your entire device is important to you, then I would not suggest the fire tablet, either just stick with the iPad or go for a different Kindle model.
No, it doesn't. For some reason I had in my head that you could change the highlight color on the device and then it would show up on the iPad/iPhone or computer apps, but that's not the case. There are no color options for highlights . . . at least not that I could find.
