hi nicole so glad you and your family are doing ok. garden still looks beautiful and i pray the rain stops soon. we will continue to pray for yall and hope it will move on out soon. thank you for sharing with us!!! be safe
Oh my!! Nicole, I hope you and your family stay safe. Thanks for sharing the damage Debby has done to your beautiful garden. I know with your gardening expertise, you will get back to normal quickly. Take care. See you next time.
Nicole let me say, you are brave and strong woman. My heart goes out to you and all that were infected by this storm. Your garden still looks beautiful considering the amount of water your area received. I just pray that you and your family are safe and your beautiful house does not flood. And you have power! I love how you take the negative and turn the situation into positive ( the planter that was starting to root). Stay safe and thank you for the updates 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
@pattyvalinote4612 I appreciate this message of caring and support so much! Seriously. The stupid weather is just making things emotional because the sun is shining one minute so you feel positive, just for the rain to start again. BUT! All will be well, I know that ❤️ My family is safe, and that's the most important thing. Thank you again! ❤️
So right!! I am on the Outer Banks. Right now it's sunny, let's go let the chickens out and start cleaning up the garden. But first have to check the radar more storms around 4pm. Fun times!
@@mycarolinagarden Tracking Ernesto! Hahaa But at least we updated our supplies! We have been here 17years and have yet to use that 3k a year Wind Policy go figure. Cheers!
So glad it did not make it into your home! I live in Florida, so I absolutely share and feel your anxiety. Hurricane season is so stressful. I live in an area that was devastated by Hurricane Ian on Sept 29, 2022, and and right after it came Nicole on Nov 3, 2022. I had thousands in my neighborhood who had to put everything they owned out on the curb for FEMA and our city to dispose of. It was the saddest thing I've ever witnessed. We are not in a flood zone, so most did not have flood ins, and hazard ins does not cover the flooding. I have never been so grateful that my home sits up on a hill. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and neighbors. I hope y'alls damage remains at the level you showed us. Take care and stay safe. 🙏
Thank you for this sweet and thoughtful message! I could cry right now just hearing your recount of the hurricane damage in your neighborhood. The feelings during this season are just so raw, and I don't think people who don't experience it really understand. Gosh, people putting things out on the curb for disposal - I know what you mean, that's so incredibly sad. We're due for more storms this afternoon, and as you well know, some of them can rock your world unexpectedly, though I'm hoping that's not the case. I want to move forward with a positive attitude now, as it's the only way to get through the next month +. I appreciate you reaching out so much! ❤
@mycarolinagarden I hope your next few days are without and destruction. As you said, it's all so emotional. Try to stay busy, keeping your mind busy helps not think about it. The best thing that comes from these storms is how the community always comes together to help one another, nothing better than that. Take care
Hi Nicole, I'm glad you are all safe. These storms can be devastating. I could feel your anxiety coming off the video :( I'm in Louisiana so I know how you are feeling. There is nothing you can do but just watch as your yard and garden is drowning from the rain and getting blown around from the wind. Stay strong, everything will be OK, the sun will come back out and so many of the droopy plants will perk back up. Hope you have a good and productive weekend.
Thank you so much for reaching out. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. You're right - there's nothings much you can do but watch, but things will be OK. Always good to get that reminder ❤ Have a great weekend!
Definitely feel your pain! I’m in Houston and recently we had Beryl which was very manageable as far as rain. Power, not so much! However, Harvey in 2017 decided to park itself over Houston for a few days. We had 52 inches of rain! Thats insane! I know how stressful this can be! So glad it’s over and your garden did so good! Yay! Sending hugs!
I hate that others have had the same/similar experiences, yet it's so comforting to know we are not alone. You're so right - 52 inches of rain from a storm is INSANE!!!! Thank you for this sweet message! May hurricane season leave our lives sooner rather than later! ❤
I have a feeling that after everything dries out… one good mow and a little clipping and tidying, that your garden will rebound very nicely. It seems the plants you have are quite resilient, you made some really good choices. The planters blowing over is something I deal with too. I’m trying to scope out sturdy, large pots for my plumeria, lemon and lime trees - just haven’t found what I’m looking for yet. Hang in there and stay safe! ❤
It's true, it'll all be just fine. Takes a bit to get over the emotion of the whole thing, but I know how lucky we are. Resilient is the perfect word for my plants. Looking at them today, you MOSTLY wouldn't know anything happened. Beautiful and crazy mother nature. Thanks for your message ❤
I also live in Wilmington, in the Porters Neck area. I am glad I do not have flooding this time. In 2018, Hurricane Florence damaged my house significantly. Then in 2019, tornadoes in Hurricane Dorian totally mangled my backyard, taking out all my big pine trees and oak trees, plus 2/3 of my azaleas and all my old fashioned hydrangeas. Now my yard is full sun from morning til night. From 11:00 a.m.-8:00p.m. my deck is too hot to use. I hate hurricanes.
Holy cow!!!! That is A LOT for one yard (or family) to go through!! How sad that trees and established plants were taken away 😥 Yeah, you deserve relief from storms from now on. ❤️
I feel you pain; I’m in Morehead City. Storm came thru at 3:00 am this morning--thunder, lightning, and rain like we haven’t seen or heard in years. My potted patio garden is just drowning. Lost only 1 terra cotta pot to the wind.
Gosh, that's crazy! The severity of the storm was unexpected for me - we thought we were on the other side of the weather pattern. You're right - the rain was like nothing we've seen in years. Our swale hadn't been that full since Florence. UGH. Here's to hoping hurricane season leaves us quickly. Take care ❤
Uggghhhhh! I feel for you. Right, everything is saturated already, and then heavy rain on top makes for a great flash flood recipe. Stay safe, and try to keep your spirits up. 💚
@@judyluce3141 I know exactly where that is at! How neat! I use to live off Etheridge Manor Blvd. My kids went to Hickory schools. What a small world! Thank you for being my flower friend! 🌸
O la la! Wish you all the best and I hope Debby ends soon!!! I have never seen that before. We have stronger winds than we had in past and I had to secure all the tall plants on my balcony because the wind put them down and some broke. I think you have big luck with the sandy soil, so the plants don t die because overwatering. How long did it last in the last years?💚🤗
@goctalis3064 I am sorry to hear about your high winds, that can be quite scary. I think it's true, the sandy soil is probably quite helpful. Once the rain stops, the water recedes fairly quickly. The reason for the flash flooding is because the rain comes so fast the ground can't absorb it quickly enough. More rain in our forecast today, but the water from last night has receded, thankfully. My family is safe, so all will be well 💚
Nicole, I'm gonna ask you a question. I live in North Carolina and Sneads Ferry. I am dealing with a lot of weeds here. The annual weeds. I think it's called chamber bitters. What do you use for your weeds? I never had to deal with that in New York when I came. Please help me give me advice what you use. Your yard looks so beautiful. Thank you.
Hi there! I had to look up what chamber bitters are, but yes I have them too. Not bad though, so I just pull those with no troubles. This is not the answer you're going to want to hear, but I pull 90% of my weeds by hand. I know, it's a ton of work, so I do it little by little, but I never want to take the risk that I'll kill my plants. In stone pathways where I don't have plants, I make a mixture of vinegar, salt and Dawn. Some say it doesn't kill to the root, but I say new weeds grow all the time anyway, so I just keep at it.
Just had your channel suggested to me on my TH-cam home page. I’m in Southport! This storm was so weird for us! We hardly got anything until Wednesday night but it seemed like it skipped over us into ILM somehow! How many inches did you end up with?
Glad TH-cam suggested my channel, because it's so nice to talk to people who live close! Gosh that's so whacky, how storms can skip right over certain areas like that. Sometimes we'll get flash flood warnings or something similar, and not see a thing, but last night puts it in perspective for me. I may not see anything, but someone close is. I'm not sure how much rain we ended up with, I haven't looked it up yet, but it was A LOT all at once! Thanks for your message!
