  • Common problem, this choke is quite expensive to buy so here is an easy fix. This same repair should work on any model bike with the same design choke.

    When I was 16 and had a 50cc bike, I used to use a clothes peg. Once I lifted the choke I would clip the peg on the little choke until I didn't need it, it worked like a dream. Your way is better I will say, plus you won't have people asking why do you have a clothes peg on your bike!

    Thanks! my bike had a cable tie around the plunger that you had to wedge under the shaft to make it stay up. I dont think it was closing all the way when down but a piece of welding wire after watching your video makes it work like brand new again.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the whole plunger is pulling up, the plastic threads on the plunger nut are stripped. You will need a new one. Wrap the threads with Teflon tape and screw it back in in the mean time so your not sucking in metered air. Most likely there will be plastic threads in the carb body where it screws in you will need to get out.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markusdruga the choke in most bikes is an enricher, meaning it opens a port that let's the carb suck fuel bypassing the jets. If you leave it on, it will be dumping an excessive amount of fuel into the intake.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Stearns if it isn't getting fuel it could be a couple things. First make sure your carb is filling with fuel, your pilot might be clogged, choke circuit might be clogged, see my other TTR video on that (different carb but same principle) also if you have bad crank seals it could be sucking air through them instead of through the carb. Be sure your compression is over 120lbs, it will run with less but not easily.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair

      You should, but try to turn it off as soon as you can. Generally, if your bike starts without choke, the pilot jet is too rich
