Tom you live on! Forever ! Will firevwr b in my heart! Lucinda getting teared up i do too i cant imagine she lnew him what a wonderful person to know he was one of my favorite artist amd i mean my favorite! Love you lucinda and love your music too.! I cry every time i hear this song tom or lucinda ! I dont know why maybe because of the beauty of music both thier music. This song tears me up.
Was listening to a Tom Petty playlist that I put together. Although I liked the melody and lyrics of this song I always wondered how a more "relaxed" version of this song would sound without the heavy guitar during the bridge section. I checked to see if there were any covers and found exactly what I was looking for in Lucinda's version of Tom's song. Excellent!
Love Lucinda as well as the heart breakers… Saw her a few years ago with a band called Buick 6… I can’t tell if this the same band or not… just curious, I have their own solo album where they do a take on a couple Lucinda tunes… Hope to see you again one of these days Lucinda…!
Buick 6 consisted of Stuart Mathis on lead guitar, Dave Sutton on bass, and Chuck Norton on drums. This video was made during the COVID crisis. Stuart Mathis continued to to play guitar. The band consisted of the following musicians. Lucinda Williams: Vocals Stuart Mathis: Guitars Joshua Grange: Guitars Steven Mackey: Bass Fred Eltringham: Drums
Every time I hear this song I wonder if Tom Petty has (had) an estranged daughter. Cause "I'm not so bad" is not a very strong argument, and "little one" is an odd name for a lover. So I guess his daughter is one of the things that went wrong in his life. That is worth tears.
Lucinda Williams is writing a memoir which was due to be released in 2020. The book has still not been published, however, Lucinda Williams has made it clear that she will be releasing her new memoir book as soon as possible. I will try to find out for you when her book is do to be released. Best wishes, Blythe Spirit
The saddest song TP ever wrote IMO. I believe it's partially about his daughter, but also all of his relationships. I've always heard this song as a reference to suicide, or rather that some people might want him to "jump" from his room at the top. So while it's triumphant that he chooses to not "come down", the fact that he has to say it means something. You don't talk about suicide generally unless... know what I mean? Obviously figuratively, this is an incredibly lonely place to be. Lucinda does the song justice and more however. Great cover!
This version is so beautiful Tom must be proud watching from heaven.
Tom Petty Always Loved, Never Forgotten Forever Miissed.
BEAUTIFUL LUCINDA...PETTY LIVES ON

To be clearer, his relationship with his daughter is what went wrong.
Had her biography come out yet would love to purchase her book?
