    Abbie might not be into vlogging but she likes stimming with a GoPro in the pool. We did a little back to school clothes shopping so we got to show you the challenges of finding clothes for Abbie because of her sensory issues.

    I lost 135 pounds back in 2011 through healthy eating, low carb, counting calories and exercise. After losing that much, I had plastic surgery to remove 9 pounds of loose skin. Less than a year later, my son was diagnosed with Autism and over the next 4 years I regained about 70 pounds of it. I started again January 1st, 2017 and so far I've lost 55 pounds. Keep up the good work you guys, the first few weeks are the hardest. After that new habits are created and it becomes easier.

      No its not the same as downs.... No it isn't caused by poison or brain damage it is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a notable lack in social communication. My daughter doesn't need to be fixed and hasn't had brain scans as that is not how autism is diagnosed.
      It is never okay for people to kill someone because they dont communicate the way you would like. Abby communicates with sign language and my daughter knows her abcs and 123's Autism is not an issue of intelligence or a lack of brain function. Are you suggesting that our children should be killed because they dont communicate as well as neurotypical children do... If so, that is very disgusting and ignorant because you clearly don't know anything about autism or fragile x syndrome... having downs does not mean you have no brain function it is caused by a genetic abnmormality which may cause cognitive impairment... this does not mean they have no brain function

      @@jonasventurejr.6582 Idk if that was a trolling comment?
      I want to add that everyone is here in this world for a reason. Some people have physical disabilities that are easy to see, some have mental illnesses that we can't see on the outside, some have learning disabilities, or sensory processing issues, some people will have more struggles later on in life...
      Every single person in this world is touched by illness, disability, and unique obstacles. We all have to find ways to overcome, and help our loved ones and people in our communities get along in life.
      We don't get rid of people just because they might be having difficulty. Everyone has difficulties. Everyone.

Do you plan it weekly, or fly by the seat of your pants?! lol. Also, You guys have a tendency to turn negatives into humor, or positive. That’s enjoying life. Can’t get enough of y’all right now!

    • @MelB868
      @MelB868 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If he said pool how is he nonverbal? That's like saying my child is mute but this is what he said?

    • @whitneymorgan5383
      @whitneymorgan5383 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      He is nonverbal because he cannot complete sentences and cannot verbally communicate his wants and needs at this point. The fact that he said "pool" is a good indicator that he really liked what he was seeing. He was excited. Declan is almost 5 years old and my 14 month old has better communication skills than he does.

    I have a 13 year old sister who is OCD and when she was younger her OCD only made sense to her and not us. It was not until she was older and learned about cleaning and organization that she started to care about the "typical" OCD things. Before that it was moving things in our house to areas that made sense in her brain only. Now she cleans and organizes but stuff like her toys need to be visible at all times so even though they are in neat rows, any surface in her room is unusable. Her psychiatrist says that this is typical for kids with OCD.

    Priscilla, you mentioned the tendency toward OCD on the spectrum...Just like everyone else we fall into messy and neat people. Some must have one way, some must have the other and some just don't care. I am more like Abby, I need a bit of what most consider a mess or I tend to go into my stemming behaviors to make sense of it. The poop really hits the fan if something of mine has been put away by someone else and it isn't where it belongs in my cluttered organization scheme. I have torn apart entire rooms trying to find something stupid like my current reading material. Just to be thrown off by the mess I made while trying to find it. It can be a real lose-lose situation because my Mom conditioned me to understand that a mess is unacceptable but total neatness doesn't work either.

    You guys are doing great with your diet, I can already notice some weight loss in your faces. As for shopping for clothes and sensory issues, my high functioning autistic child has huge sensory processing issues around clothes and are always limited to a few items of clothing which he will wear, even though his wardrobe is full, quite often nothing feels right and shopping causes huge stress, he's 11 and moving up to high school in September and hes already having issues over the thought of wearing school trousers, dreading going school uniform shopping. wish us luck haha. keep up the good work with your diet, your doing amazing x

    I feel your pain with the shopping for children with challenges like Abbie's and it definitely gets more challenging as they develop into young woman. Having adopted multiple children with challenges it is so difficult to dress girls fashionable especially taking in account all the clothing that doesn't work. Lol! This reminds me of when I was a teen and my brother (R.I.P.) used to tell me "you're not going out with that on!" and would tell me to go change, if my shorts were too short or my shirt was too revealing. At the time, I thought he was overbearing, but when I got older, I realized he just really loved me and wanted to protect me. I miss him so much.

    my favorite "sauce/ marinade" really simple mix or blend lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. it's great on roasted veggies sooo yum. Also homemade avocado hummus makes a great spread for sandwiches and full of protein and healthy fats and easy to make.

    It would be cool if there was clothing stores specally made for people with autism or on the autisum spectrim.That would be cool

      I know it's not the same thing bc it's not a specific store but targets cat and Jack clothes are suppose to be sensory friendly

      It would be cool, but it would also come with a bump-up in price tag. Anything that's a specialty item, which autism-specific clothes would be, comes with an increase in price

    Oh my goodness, Micki loves destruction and chaos! She used to pull the headliner off the roof in our car. Thank goodness she hasn't done that in a while, especially because we bought a new car!

    We buy clothing for our little one in chucks all at once by season so really just summer and winter since California's always hot.
    Priscilla - our son(also on the spectrum) is a mix of OCD and distracting it just depends on the day lol

    We spread the clothes shopping out. Especially since we live in Colorado with snow and stuff. Lol but they always start with a brand new outfit for the first day.
