    Bridgestone has the RS11 as their track-oriented tire to compare with the TD, Q4, etc. Awesome vid as always.. made me jump over to the website and re-subscribe to premium to watch the rest unfold :)

    Bought a KTM 890R used, 2400 miles. It had the original front power cup2 and a q3 on the rear. Replaced the rear with a brand new pc2. I've never been a Michelin guy, road raced for thirteen years. Don't know if it's the tires, the bike, or both but, this is the best handling motorcycle I've ever ridden. Plus I was able to do two track days and there's still good tread on the rear. The Q4s I was running on my '09 cbr600rr the rear was good for about a day and a half.

      Like most, depends on how you ride/is set up. Anyone can kill a set in a session and complain about how bad they are and buy another right afterwards but financially it isn't the best but people do it all the time.

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Michelin has produced an excellent tire with the PC2. It is surprising a lot of riders and the feedback from riders like you is driving more sales (rightly so).

  • @alanbrown5593
    @alanbrown5593 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nor have you any idea how it has been stored, that tyre is useful for the outside of a dart board.
    Shame you didn't include a Metzeler M9RR or the Continental Contisportsattack 3
    The Metzeler, is a bit like the Pirelli (strange that !) and the Conti more Bridgestone in its feel (harder carcase).
    I've just fitted a set of P5 to my K1300R, as summer is allegedly coming ! Even after 50 miles they're gripping well.

    10:40 in terms of actual tire width, on wanted a wider looking rear tire on my 02 vtr1000 superhawk, but only had 5.5" rim with oem for 180. So I researched for 5.5's and saw that Dunlop Q2 180-50 for a 5.5 - 6" rim would actually be widest at about 188mm rather than the 180 spec. And DID look great.

  • @justaguy4real
    @justaguy4real 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There is so much confusion and misunderstanding about proper tires and proper heat of each tire, and how much heat required for optimal traction and use. So many buying more tire than needed actually hindering their riding performance. I've researched so much looking for my next set of tires and I've learned so much in general as well as from Dave and I think most every Rider does not do themself due diligence learning about their tires. I'm thoroughly enjoying S22's after researching and seeing way more glowing reviews for them and not nearly as much for Power 5's after I learned Power 2's were discontinued. So I'm still wondering about Power 5's, although I'm thinking even Road 5's and T31's would likely be sufficient even for aggressive street riding only since it seems they actually warm up easier and faster to plenty of heat providing plenty of aggressive reaction and likely wouldn't even overheat thereby possibly being a better option rather than needing to generate more heat to get the Powers and S series to optimal hear. Eventually maybe they'll get it to only 3 choices with tire advancements technology and eliminating so much more guesswork of which is the exact one I need?
    Is it an actual possibility that only on streets a skilled talented rider could actually outperform or outride the Road 5's or T31's, etc? Making them a very safe option.

    2:50Power 5s are nice but don't offer noticeable more grip than Road 5s but wear out 3x faster. Imo the Road 5 is easily passable in this group of tyres.
    8:24 This really explains why the S22s have problems with front tyre wear. They're far softer especially in comparison with the rears. Probably the reason why everyone complains that the fronts are gone when the rear is still fine, especially if they commute a lot.

    That "old" tire was in as good of shape as it was because it is Ozone and UV that hurts tires. If you have tires you are going to store keep them out of the sun, like black trash bags. This is why you see trailers and RV's with covers on their tires.

    If you have a set of these older dot's, I'd take them any day. You can have a lot of fun on older tires and even overtake safely on track, so I wouldn't throw them out immediately. Do you have to leave plenty of headroom, yes obviously. Do you need to push on 10 year old tires, absolutely not.

    Dave! when you were comparing front tyre height you said that with q3 (the taller one) the bike wont turn but it will easily turn with the power 5( the shorter one). Why this??

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A larger tyre takes longer to go through one rotation. It also lifts the front of the bike up higher altering geometry. A shorter circumference tyre puts more weight on the forks and that helps the bike turn faster. Hope this explanation helps!

    Waaaayyyy too complicated and convoluted for me. I like my Diablos they grip well in the bends and I’ve used them for years on the road now. For me, suspension setups like you’ve taught me in previous vids make all the difference to mind being on the road and not thinking about the bike below me. Obviously track days would be a different ball game but for the road...... meh.
