The most chilling scene I had watched as a new viewer to Fate. Hooked me immediately towards hating the antagonist. By giving such a crazy emotion range, it allows the viewer to clearly root against a specific antagonist in a show that has no clear protagonist. Fate is an excellent series, for the reason few other shows can boast as a quality, because there is no clear protagonist. Everyone is in to win and the story is spread evenly amongst all characters that you can root for anyone based on their morals. Instead, it aims more towards who you hate the least. And this scene instantly provides you with a clear and present danger with someone who is unredeemable. Providing such an antagonist allows the show to grow it's characters so the viewer can start to learn and cheer for different characters instead of taking them on face value and rooting for them the whole way through.

This duo have the paradox of together being the darkest and most "true evil" characters not just in Fate/Zero, but at the same time, a lot of their screentime is funny and absurd, and releases the tension in the viewer. It is probably the least intuitive choice made in the creative process of F/Z, but it works SOOO well.

What is sad, amazing and horrifying is the fact that this duo where the only master and servant that died happy and fulfilled. They were happy in a strange way even in death and with how they lived their lives

For me, the most horrific part about this scene was when the kid was being torn to shreds by the demonic monster off screen. By not showing us just how the kid dies, the sounds in the background make viewers imagine what’s happening. The fact that the kid was screaming for so long, even as the sounds of flesh and tissue being consumed continue, meant that the boy’s lungs, voice chords, and head were left intact until the end. In other words, Caster made sure the boy felt as much fear and pain as he could before he died.

  • @IluvatarEru

Thoose screams are so awful. Caster saying "the best fear is fresh. You have to give them hope and continuously take it away until that hope turns into anguish and they are ledt with nothing but fear." You can hear in the screams how they start and stop seems to imply that in that short amount of time caster kept giving the boy an escape only to take it away as was hoping to get away. Then the screams intensify each time. Chilling

What always struck me about Ryuunosuke was how innocent and childish he talks. The naive way he talks about god and during the scene on the bridge, the way he yells and waves at Caster standing on the river like a child would in that situation.
In many ways, Ryuunosuke is just a little boy himself. And from how ironically shocked he is when his "work" was destroyed, you get the sense that he doesn't think he's doing anything wrong.
Caster supporting and consoling him also shows that he *can* be empathetic.
With Caster you get the sense that he knows what he's doing when he basically taunts Saber by killing children in front of her eyes. And while Ryuunosuke definitely acknowledges that he's hurting and terrorizing people, he seems to think that in the grand scheme of things it's an okay thing to do.

Am I the only one who wants to actually see what happens to the kid? I feel horrible for him, and the noises and especially his screams, chills me to the bone, but i still really want to see it. Do we have any idea what actually happened? It didn’t occur to me that he might have been getting eaten....really brutally. From the very fast and large amount of the sounds being made, and the length he was still alive and the way he was screaming, it’s a little hard to guess. I kinda figured he was getting ripped and peeled, something that could last that long, and the climactic last scream being “the rest”, or the face, or something final. Lol and don’t judge, people, I’m just saying what everyone has wondered, whether briefly, or more in-depth.
