@@factscheckeddall4221 It's actually Trinidad boycotting Jamaican products that lead to that, also Jamaicans were assaulted by immigration in Trinidad constantly. I remember it being on the news when I was younger, however ask Jamaicans about Trinidad and they will have no idea about general knowledge in Trinidad other than carnival and soca. Jamaicans are too focused on America, Canada, or England literally.

Trinidadians as a whole don't really hate Jamaicans per see we hate the bad attitude that often proceeds many Jamaicans. Trinidad and Tobago are a phenomenal people with own unique culture, energy, music, expression etc. In fact Calypso/Soca/ which by the way is where Reggae got its roots was birthed in Trinidad & Tobago. Also the only musical instrument created in the 20th century STEEELPAN is birthed in Trinbago. We have our own way of doing things. We are an innovative, extremely generous, hospitable and loving people, but our kindness often get misconstrued for weakness. Many Trinibbagonians do appreciate Jamaican culture by listening to Reggae, Skat, Dancehall etc. Whenever a Jamaican artist arrive in our shores for a concert its always sold out. WE support Jamaican culture but it is rarely reciprocated by Jamaicans. Most Jamaicans don't/won't even listen to Calypso/Soca Music, nor do they support our talents like Machel Montano, David Rudder, Nadia Batson etc. Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival is the biggest in the Caribbean and the second biggest in our region yet most Jamaicans know nothing of it. Trinidad & Tobago have its own cheer of problems like anywhere else in the world, we do not own the blueprint for crime, violence, etc. Trinidad& Tobago is a beautiful country and have continuously open our doors to other Caribbeans and the world. It would be nice if Jamaicans would educated themselves about our country. It would be nice if they practice more openness and then the saying "all ah weh is one famalay" would actually mean something.

@@traceecoltes2460 Trinidadians and Jamaicans in the diaspora get along quite fine, no issues but it is back in Trinidad that the animosity builds up. I have been to Trinidad and they would readily want to deny entry to Jamaicans and Jamaican goods into Trinidad. It has however gotten a bit better now, but they use to readily blame Guyanese and other immigrants for all their problems, which is what most countries do by the way. I was shown a slum area where then it was said that it was the Guyanese who came over and started it. I am a professional and the people I met there could not believe that I was Jamaican because I did not smoke ganja or talk like what they were lead to believe in the media.
Reggae roots are not from Trinidad like you said. It’s coming from mento and rocksteady. Jamaicans have always listened and liked calypso and soca long before Byron Lee brought the Carnival to Jamaica and also before he played at the Queens Park Savannah.

@@zndrsmith THIS IS THE REASON WHY READING AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS ARE PARAMOUNT. YOU ARE A WALKING BAG OF CONTRADICTIONS. FIRST YOU SAID THAT TRINIDADIANS AND JAMAICANS ARE "QUITE FINE WITH NO ISSUES", THEN PROCEEDS TO BLAME TRINIDADIANS IN YOUR ASSERTIONS. TRINIDAD LIKE EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD HAS RULES. JAMAICANS ARE NOT ABOVE THOSE RULES. THE ENTITLEMENT OF THINKING THAT JAMAICANS SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE GRANTED ENTRANCE IN TRINIDAD IS LUDICROUS AND ENTITLED.
TRINIDAD HAS BEEN A REFUGEE FOR MANY PEOPLE ESPECIALLY OTHER CARIBBEAN NATIONALS. TRINIDAD HAS LOAN A LOT OF MONEY TO BOTH JAMAICA AND GUYANA TO ASSIST THEM IN THEIR NEEDS. IT WAS A LOAN EMPHASIS ON THE WORD "LOAN" THE MONEY WAS NEVER REPAID.
SECONDLY DR. ERIC WILLIAMS THE MOST PROMINENT LEADER OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO AND ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL PRESENCE IN THE CARIBBEAN HAS MADE MANY STRIVES TO UNIFY THE CARIBBEAN. HE IS WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN CO- CREATING CARICOM. HE WAS A HIGHLY EDUCATED MAN. A TRUE VISIONARY. HE WANTED THE CARIBBEAN NATIONS TO HAVE ONE CURRENCY LIKE THE EURO.
HE WANTED THERE TO BE EASY IMMIGRATION, TRADING, CURRENCY ETC BETWEEN THE ISLANDS. IT IS THE JAMAICAN PRIME MINSTER MICHEAL NORMAN MANELY WHO OBJECTED. HE DID NOT WANT CARICOM'S HEADQUARTERS TO BE IN TRINIDAD. THEREFORE ALL UNIFICATION WENT DOWN THE DRAIN.
CALYPSO PREDATED REGGAE. CALYPSO INFLUENCE JAMAICAN MENTO WHICH WAS THE PRECURSOR FOR REGGAE.
I NEVER SAID REGGAE IS FROM TRINIDAD. IT IS CLEAR THAT YOU ARE COGNITIVE DEFICIENT. THE THINGS YOU SAID IS FROM AN UNINFORMED, HIGHLY BIGOTED MINDSET.
NO ONE ASSOCIATES "CARNIVAL" WITH JAMAICA TRINBAGO IS THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE OF CARNIVAL IN THE CARIBBEAN AND MANY PLACES IN THE WORLD. TO SAY THAT JAMAICANS "ALWAYS" LOVE CALYPO IS NOT ONLY A LIE, BUT UNFOUNDED. THAT IS YOUR OPINION IT IS NOT A FACT. AND THE LAST I CHECK FACT TRUMPS OPINION. . He went on to state that Trinidad want to share its knowledge and finding of it oil development ,however Jamaican wanted nothing to do with the matter. The subtle relationship undercurrent of Caribbean people will never be resolved as the islands are insulated by their own insularity. I think Jamaicans are very arrogant to be upset .Trini aint Dey country period and that means Jamaica don’t get to decide Trinidadians govern Trinidad we can let u in people and we can decide to stop if to decide to stop its most likely due to economic reasons ...it’s a small island and more than one nation of people be trying to live in trini..we like a Jamaicans ..gimme a break to me it’s unintelligent for Jamaica to have a reaction like they did . It’s like when a desperate family member beg lodging and then after move in they mooch and act entitled and they like to act like they run things JA seem to act like that a lot like they run shit and can’t be criticized bc they the best..I grew up with JA all my life and they have that kind of trait ..they fun but they pushy and beggy beggy and feel they always rite and despite all of that Trinidad like Jamaica more than any other island..but Jamaica turn me off with this one gtfoh and most of the comments Jamaica making on here sound stupid sorry

Rashiid, one of the major problem with us, as people of the Caribbean we are not very objective. We are a mixture of people from 4 Continent, so we should be the most objective, by looking at the World for what it is, rather than through a confused mind wrap up in conjecture. Many of us believe that if your skin is Black you should be relating to Africa or if other person skin is white they are the oppressor. Some people may use skin colour to enslave, oppress, and discriminate however, skin colour have nothing to do with oppression or slavery. It's more to do with having the wherewithal to take advantage of others, whether white, brown or black! African enslave African and sold them to the European, England was enslave by the Roman for 4 Hundred years, the first Jamaican (Black) that was educated at Cambridge University back in 1740's, came back to Jamaica, became wealthy, and own slaves. Men of all shades, will take advantage of other Men given half the chance. One of Jamaica major problems is, we rebel against the very things that can help us, and embrace nonsense, because it have something to do with Africa. Whether we like or not most of our culture is British, if we are smart we would use the high standard of Literature, Science, Engineering, mathematics, that is embedded in the English Language, to build our Nation instead of wasting time with Patois, which have none of these elements within it. The day that we in Jamaica open our mind to the real truth of embracing English & Spanish as the foundation to success, no other country can disrespect us...

Shalom my friend there is truth in what you said. Biblically this was foretold about us in our holy boom the bible. We will have a evil eye towards our kinfolks. We will be enslaved by our enemies. Africans enslaved yisrealites not africans. Deuturomy explains all of our curses. You are right skin color has nothing to do with our conditions we broke our father's commandments Isreal did not africans. Read Deuturomy it will explain our conditions. Our people are isrealites. Our home is not Africa but Jerusalem she is the mother our mother land. Galatians chapter 4. Some of our family are scattered around the four corners of the earth. Some are in the land cush Mizram, Ebo, people's in Nigeria are our families. Shalom my friend.

I use to see trini people on TV and I loved their accents and the way they express themselves. But then one they my mom told me you guys don't like us, and she laughed while saying it. And she didn't have any hate for trinis, I like em but when you guys get the chance to say any thing about us you always boast about how you are more educate and have a better economy and that's why we say offensive things about trinidad. Maybe you guys are the problem, oh wait yes you are. Stop calling us uneducated, stupid and broke, and maybe we'll say nice things. The federation would have benefited all the other islands more than Jamaica. Jamaicans have work ethic ingrained in their Jewish ancestry from the IBO tribe from Nigeria and the Jews from Portugal. We as Jamaicans are way ahead and still ahead of the lesser Antilles.. When we voted against Federation our dollar was higher than the American Dollar. What has happened since is a betrayal by our own leaders who dont know where we are coming from. Micheal Manley was a leader who understood our capability but he was stymied by the USA and the CIA plant Seaga.(CIAGA). We as a people did not understand what Manley was saying and advocating that we learn to produce enough food to feed ourselves and so be self sufficient. America did not want that they wanted to keep us dependent on their Ohio Potatoes and Onions and Skellion and Powdered Milk.. They flooded our market after Seaga won in 1980 and they destroyed our dairy industry. The rest is history. Today we have to import everything and we are a poverty economy. Federation was not for us hard working Jamaicans. Federation was for us to work to support the other Islands who dont have the Jamaican inate character. The British just withdrew from the European community for the same reason and Britain will survive because there will always be an England and there will always be a Jamaica so take hope Jamaica we are world leaders in our own little corner of the world in our Caribbean Sea.

The powers that be have instilled the divide and conquer mentality in the Caribbean but hopefully future generations will see through this crap and unite more while being proud of their heritage. I read some of the comments. I am a jamaican living in Trinidad, my wife ks trini a lot of my jamaican friends have tt wives. Facts TT women love jamaican men. Jamaican have impacted the world more than TT. The abolishment of slavery in the carribean, and south Africa. Freeing of Mandela, Sports, music ect. A lot of you who are commenting seems to be very young, so you may come on the net and write inaccurate things. In England during the 50s 60s 70s when people from the carribean when to England, the were beaten by the whites, except the Jamaicans. It was the Jamaicans defended them. Many lf them started learning jamaican language to sound like us, because the whites feared the Jamaicans. And for many of you who just write for pushing up trini. Many people across the world do not know of trinidad, but jamaica, long b4 2008. And many believe Trinidad is in Jamaica. What does that tell you about Jamaica.

There is no rift....between Trinidad and Jamaica....Every country reserves the right to allow/disallow entry via its ports, regardless of the visitors circumstances. I have travelled to 65 countries and have been refused entry to 8 countries, it all depends on immigration policies, the officers in attendance, your own personal circumstances (whether you have a local address or respondent in tow),etc, etc. Not every day is Sunday. The people of the Caribbean due to lack of travel experience and their inability to follow rules, sometimes makes a penny ,look as though it were a pound. While the sentiments shared were fair...There are no facts to substantiate claims made via this video.Let us learn to separate our feelings from facts. In a court of law..The judge might feel that you are guilty..but he has to rule by the facts..Without solid evidence..I would say,let us continue to exist peaceably as neighbours.

the fear jamaica had of the federation was that the other island people were more educated and if the other islanders were allowed to freely migrate to Jamaica they would have taken over in many areas where Jamaicans would not have been able to compete due a lack of education amongst it's own people. Bustamante was stooge and a cia agent for america who did not want to see the Caribbean unified especially when most of the leaders at that time were panafricanism. Bustamante a white man did America's dirty work

Mr. King how do u know how Jamaicans were thinking. I doubt you r Jamaican. We didn't have problems with our educational system then so why would we be afraid of people taking jobs from us. At the time it was Trinidad and Jamaican who were doing well. The other islands didn't have much and Trinidad was not able to manage the burden on its own. England had focused a lot on Jamaican at the time so we had way more opportunities for education etc. Not saying looking back we shouldn't have joined but our reason for not joining was bc Busta convinced people that the smaller islands would suck out our wealth. Trinidad and Jamaica were to be the daddy for the other islands.
Also it was Trinidad who was more concerned about freedom of movement. Jamaica was located not close to the other islands. My family members voted in that election. Manley lost bc Busta convinced people that Jamaican would become poor from having to support the smaller islands. Trinidad was not happy either. It was just like brexit.

Wanna know the reason why we left the federation
So here we are , a small nation as Jamaica uniting the Caribbean. The other Caribbean countries excluding Trinidad had no natural resources. This placed a strain our resources and cost us billions. Because of this we weren't spontaneous about the whole federation deal but Trinidad was. The prime minister eventually got us to leave the federation and Trinidad being the only country with natural resources couldn't risk straining theirs as well for the sake of the small islands so they left as well. So it was basically a domino effect.
    I don't want a federation
    It has nothing to offer
And I respect the sovereignty of countries .
    Let's just stay to ourselves

Allyuh want deep facts, here a quote from 1950s in Lloyd Braithwaites "Social stratification in Trinidad",
The effects of this immigration are often masked because of the
similarity of race and culture between the immigrant groups.
Periodically, there have been outbursts of sentiment against the individuals of the other islands, but these have been more marked by
jocular derision than by any form of sustained hostility. The problems of adjustment consequent on immigration, the frequent absence of kinship ties such as the "native" Trinidadian possesses, have for the most part been overlooked, but they need examination if the out look of the present population of Trinidad is to be understood.
