I just watched it. You can sqwent your eyes and say yeah jiri won the first round. Nothing they were throwing was that aggressive. Alec had stiff leg kicks though.
Before the knock down Alex was back pedaling as jiri was advancing in. Alex didn't look stunned or hurt. It seemed to be strategy.
@@kev30631 it’s the subtle things to look for. Like the feints Jiri was throwing and how Alex picked up to the fake take down attempts followed up by overhand right. Almost caught Jiri dipping his head. Even Jiri acknowledged it.
Alex was making his reads and was turning with all of Jiri’s shots. He did eat a couple of clean shots. But he made the adjustments and laid Jiri out. It wasn’t a lucky shot. Neither was he getting run through and found that one shot. It was competitive until Alex made his reads and countered Jiri’s blitz. High level striking. The coping from some people is just wild to me

The majority of the strikes which Alex landed were to the head, and you're telling me that he didn't land anything on Jiri save the leg kicks?

Was it an early stoppage? Sure. But lets be real dude, Jiri was about to get brutally flatline-KO'd via vicious ground and pound. He was badly dazed, and Pereira was top-mounted on him. Things were about to get very ugly very fast.
All and all these are some bad arguments dude. If anything, Jiri is the one who doesn't have anything for Alex. Hes not going to knock him out, Pereiras chin is granite at 205, and if Jan (who is a better grappler than Jiri) couldn't submit him, Jiri certainly isn't. Jiri keeps his hands low, chin up, in a bladed karate-type stance. And Alex is a master of getting reads on his opponent and finding the left hook. Hes an extremely precise and technical kickboxer, and since hes already fought Jiri once, and since based on the Rakic fight, Jiri has made ZERO adjustments, if anything, Pereira's going to KO him even faster than last time because he has him figured out!

That's a very gutsy prediction. I do agree with you however that Jiri is possibly the only guy - other than Adesanya - who figured Pereira out. But you underestimate Pereira's ability to study his opponent and make the necessary adjustments. It's 50-50 for me.
How did Adesanya figure Alex out? Alex just got over aggressive when he thought Izzy was hurt and Izzy caught him. Izzy tried that same punch against Strickland in the first round got dropped.

He's making waaaaaaayyyyyy too much of the weight cut. 25 lbs in 2-3 weeks is really nothing if you know how much weight is usually cut during fight week alone. DC said if he was 225 coming into fight week then he knew he was good to make 205 then Joey says later in the video that Alex used to cut down to middleweight from 230(he wasn't) but ok if you think that he was that big at middleweight and made the weight everytime why tf would cutting to 205 from 230 be a problem🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣
Jiri is not waiting for the later rounds. That's not how the man fights. He only has one gear and one way of fighting. Also, the longer the fight, the more it swings in Alex's favor. Giving the more technical/skilled fighter with power time to pick up on your tendencies and opportunities to capitalize is no bueno. On top of the Jiris, movements, and counters will slow down and leave more openings. I think Alex's game plan in the first fight was to batter his legs and counter the entire time. I think he will do the same in the rematch. Imo

What makes you think Pereira wants a war? The first fight was still a lesson learned despite winning. You're real confident
3:07 and those leg kicks were hurting Jiri badly, and one of them even dropped Jiri. I think Jiri can win this rematch and should be favorite though, I don't think Alex can catch Jiri again easily, but if Alex hurts Jiri badly again with leg kicks then Jiri might make another mistake due to mobility issues after the leg damage.

Regarding the last fight between JP and AP, I think you totally missed the bigger picture, which was that Jiri was hurt bad, his legs were hurting so much that all his aggression was as a result of this, and much of it was rushed. Alex controlled most of the fight thanks to this key advantage and I can bet you that is the main issue that will be on Jiri's mind going into this fight. The issue for Jiri is that he can't check leg kicks and in fact, no one can against Alex, so his only options are (more chaos / aggression) that would 9/10 end with Jiri on the canvas or a much more concerted effort by Jiri to take down Alex, his only path to victory imho.
There is of course, a high chance that Alex counters one of the take down attempts with a well timed knee kick.

I've watched the first fight many times, but Jiri is always open to be hit though..Agreed it's an awkward style to adapt to, but Alex can easily find Yiri's chin if Yiri doesn't get him out of there early..Yiri has the toughness, durability, and heart that helps him overcome getting his but kicked, but Alex has won many fights after getting hurt and wobbled..This is a 50/50 fight, there is no need to talk yourself into which guy will win, just enjoy the scrap, and realize it could go either way..

In a word, yes.
To say Alex didn't want the fight is misleading, he was on the other side of the world doing work for sponsors and vacationing with his family, as well as being smart enough to negotiate with the UFC, and get a proper payday, instead of agreeing immediately, like Volk would, for half the money..But either one of these guys could win this fight on any given night, as long as Alex doesn't get his spirit buddies involved in the scrap..
I agree that jiri can walk through leg kicks but that only lasts so long, I think that he knew he had to get aggressive in the first fight and that cost him. I don't know if I agree with the idea that going longer only benefit's jiri

I just watched the fight yesterday. What are you even talking about? Alex did great at defending while on bottom. Jiri couldn't get kuch done down there. Jiri landed some good shots on the standpoint but the leg kicks did more damage mostly lol. It was a good fight but jiri wasn't winning convincingly.
