For a fuller beard that can be shaped without being too crazy, I'd definitely suggest beard hairs that are 15mm to 25mm in length. This is short-medium beard territory and should be exactly what you're looking for!

Do you want to trim with the grain or against the grain of the beard hair?

If I'm trimming to reduce overall length then I go against the grain to lift the beard hairs up before trimming them off evenly. If I want to just limit the flyaways, then I'll trim with the grain to get the stragglers that are floating around!
