Ok, I love that you speak out of theeth words. I like that you are not tied to what you will say from each company. For that you deserve a tone of credits BadSeed!
I own one of these and love it but it’s a niche use case. I am a forensic accountant and got it for work since our laptops don’t have 10keys. For my use case the Bluetooth and the overbuiltness of it are worth the cost. Sure, I could have gotten a keyboard but this fits in my briefcase much more easily. My wife uses it occasionally as well for the same sort of thing. As I said, edge case, but one that makes me grateful it was made. Also, charging it to the company as a business expense makes the cost easier to handle. Though, I got it before they approved the expense so that would not have been a deal killer for me.
As a brand designer who is an avid fan of Glorious, their most recent choices have started raising red flags IMO. I was super interested in this when they announced it, until I saw the price. That’s insane! Your honest take on this resonated very similarly to how I was feeling: kinda sour about this whole thing. 😣
yea, if only there was a blue tooth gasket mounted numpad with a full metal body pre lubed linear switches, rotary encoder, macro slider that didn’t cost 130$
Nah, this checks all the boxes for me. A zero-compromise product. I'll use it with my PC for macros for like 10 separate pieces of software, and take it on the go with my laptop for use with tablet mode for drawing, 3D sculpting, brush size, stabilization, hotkeys etc. It doesn't hurt that it's wireless, it doesn't hurt that it has backlight, all that is optional, all it does is increase the price, and you aren't forced to buy it. It is overpriced, but at the same time there's nothing like it on the market. A lite version would be great tho. Without the CNC aluminum. Battery life is a bit disappointing. I don't mind it not being optimized for a southpaw setup. FYI, RGB can be functional, it's not just for aesthetics. The only reason people have a problem with it is that it's sold by Glorious, a brand that used to be known for good, budget products. And now they're steering away from that brand image. If they released it under a premium sub-brand, then nobody would have an issue with it (similar to Toyota and Lexus). Or better yet, sell it as a 2x as expensive kit via group buys as that sub brand, then it would be sought after and enthusiasts/collectors would salivate over it. But I guess they aren't just some dude doing all that in a backyard shed. Or you can build yourself a Murphpad, for a similar cost, without backlight, with an OLED screen instead, with DIY build quality, with ZMK, so you're forced to remap your keys by hand in a text editor. No, thanks. Stop fanboying for brands, people. Love the product instead.
if you are looking for a numpad for macros or for just a numpad, I would recomend the Idabo one. It's a bit pricey and you'll need to get some switches too. But it is solid and I use it every day for work. I use the extra keys for macros, space, tab, backspace, delete, and esc. my only issue, getting keycaps for it, you pretty much have to canabalize a completely separate keycap set, but the extra keys are super handy
I still have my old full size GMMK and it keeps chugging along with no issues. I've thought about buying other stuff from Glorious but whenever I looked at their site their prices seemed to be all over the place. Once I saw they rebranded from Glorious PC Gaming Race I sorta understood what was happening. They wanted to pivot from a small company with a dedicated fanbase into trying to compete with bigger companies at bigger price points. That wouldn't be a huge issue if it didn't come at the expense of everything else, but it seems like they've effectively abandoned entry level customers.
I 1000% agree with what you said about glorious as a company. I haven’t felt right supporting them for awhile now. Especially since the knockoff aether keycaps
I was actually pretty interested in this product to pair in southpaw orientation with a 65% or 75% layout keyboard, especially since it'd give me access to an additional knob and slider, but after I saw the price I decided to pass on the first preorder batch and do some research first, and I'm glad I did. I might even still be interested in this product regardless of numpad functionality, reprogramming the keys entirely and just using it like a macro pad essentially, if only Glorious handled the execution better. 😒
I could see this thing but in a very different role: as a smart home remote. Encoder + slider + a bunch of keys + Bluetooth is a very unique and useful combination in that role
I'm new to the custom keyboard scene so I wasn't sure if $130 was a normal price for something like this mousepad. I appreciate your objectivity when it came to critiquing the pricing while still highlighting certain qualities that you actually thought were good. Definitely helped me decide that while the GMMK Pro Barebones was an okay investment, this num pad is not
Tbh if the angle and corner chamfering was matched to the Pro, and it was a Bluetooth / Wireless / wired swappable I would buy it for like 25-50% off the price.
Glorious really only had mt support for their mice. The Model O wireless has been my favorite mouse I've used. When I saw the newer full shell mice I got excited as over time I've grown to dislike the skeletal design if the model O as its annoying to clean. I can't properly express my disappointment when I saw it was a group buy and that it had already ended.
They design a lighter version of the Model O without holes and instead of just releasing that as the Model O v2 they made it a limited time GB, that’s just stupid logic.
Max Falcon 20 for the win. RGB, your choice of switches, and 5 layers x 20 keys = 100 possible macros. Huge time saver for repetitive tasks in PowerPoint, Excel, and Avid Sibelius. $50 if I recall.
glorious seems to have forgotten they made their name on high quality (sometimes) budget options, and seem too interested in now making half assed highish end but not quite good enough stuff they can nickel and dime people with. glad i stopped buying from them after they told me my standards were too high when complaining about qc on a MOW
This move by glorious makes it seems like they’d be the type of roommate who marks where their oj level was with a sharpie in the fridge but still helps themselves to pizza when you offer
I was contemplating getting one until I heard about the announcement for this and was all for this until I saw everything pointed out in this video, especially that $130 price tag. Now I'm definitely gonna go with the murphpad or similar products
Thank you for being so transparent on this video. It’s so hard to think of this I also had a great thought of glorious that just sort of faded naturally over time then forced negative with all the group buy red flags until they turned into finalmouse in my brain. It can’t be shook when the choices are that way. The only glorious thing I still have in my daily setup is the xxl mouse pad / desk mat which is again arguably too damn expensive still but an excellent product. What can you really do though in todays world inflation is a bitch and the companies are all doing sketchy shit like this now. I’d have gladly looked into this numpad at $60-80 but fuck if I’ll even look at specs at that price.
I really appreciate the criticism about how Glorious has been. They need to hear it. I've always felt like they were really close to greatness, just mismanaged. Well whatever management was steering them wrong just took full control cause this is completely insane.
I have a lot of love for the glorious products I've bought. The Gmmk Pro was my first and so far only custom keyboard but it's pretty much perfect to me after some personalization, and the Model D- is one of my favorite ergo mice. I want the numpad just to have a left side numpad, to save room for my mouse when playing shooter games. But I genuinely don't understand what a second knob is for
A numpad with a slider and a knob, and bluetooth, and an actual case for $129 isn't anywhere as bad as you might think, relatively speaking. Relatively speaking is the key set of words though. Honestly go shopping for that kind of numpad and you'll quickly realize that it's actually somehow not a terrible deal
I have plenty of the Glorious mice, model O, O-, D, wireless etc, great mice, but when it comes to their keyboards I passed. I have a number of custom keyboards and most of them are from Keychron, I have almost all the keychron Q models, because I find it fun to customise them and change form factor every now and then and I always know they will work fine out of the box (with Linux as well). I find the keychron prices reasonable and within the realms of the custom keyboards hobby, I would even say very affordable. But I have a hard time understanding where Glorious is going with these products and prices, I think they should be evolving the GMMK Pro brand with new models etc. like keychron does.
Lol. I bought this preordered this the other day because I need a numpad for work but I find 98% layouts too cramped. I own an RK with the same layout as the Keychron. It’s just too tight to be really effective. And since no one wants to build interesting full layouts, this is a great addition to a TKL
The piece of aluminum this thing is made from definitely adds to the majority of the cost. Bluetooth without the dongle also adds a decent amount of cost. I agree, the slider is useless since you have the nob for volume. I'm sure if you could make a macro for brightness for the then it'd be great but, that seems more feasible for a laptop than the desktop I use it with. What's kinda weird is that it goes into power saving mode after a few minutes of inactivity even when it's directly connected to PC via USB. I did get up upsold on different switches bc I wanted clicky ones to match my keyboard. Even then $129 is outrageous not counting shipping or any other accessories available.
Harvy Dent said it best, you either die a hero or you live long enought to see yourself become the villain. I narrowed my eyes as soon as I got that first group buy e-mail for the model-O pro.
If you just need a numpad with an encoder, I'm a big fan of the CustomMK genesis. It's pretty barebones. Stacked FR4 and Acrylic with rubber feet, but it costs 67$ and has full VIA support, numpad and macropad layout options, and really nice RGB. Plus it seems like they keep it in stock.
But if you don't want to order one online this is the only good option where I live. It's this one or an ugly cheap numpad from Logitech. I prefer the look of this numpad more so it's simple. Cost whatever, I "need" those keys today and don't want to wait several weeks or months for an order from across the globe.
Funny enough your coverage of the Gmmk Pro brought me into the keeb hobby. After going down the custom keeb rabbit hole I cancelled 2 pre orders of the Gmmk Pro and picked up a KBD67lite and recently a Zoom65. Haven’t looked at Glorious products since then, and this numpad is confirmation that they are still going in the wrong direction.
Thanks for this! I received the email not too long ago about the pre-order for this thing and was truly curious. It wasn't all the addons that pushed me away from this item, but it was the price point itself. I could get a the Mountain Core + Numpad and still pay less overall for that than a Glorious Pro + Numpad. I have to agree with many of the commentors as well; what IS going on with Glorious? Why such a sudden turn from affordable entry/mid-game keebs to ... group guys and outrageous price points? /soapbox Speaking of, do you have any other southpaw style keebs you could recommend?
The phrase "jumps the shark" comes to mind - I'm a big fan of this brand - and was looking for a nice num pad that I could use mainly to try/test new switch types but at $130 probably not gonna happen. We have a couple (one for my son one for my wife) GMMK Pro barebones that we built up - probably have about $250-260 in each when it's all said and done - is it worth the $100 more to have it "pre-built" I don't know - perhaps. Personally, I went down a notch to their non-Pro TKL and swapped the switches and went with nicer key caps - I have about $160 in that board and with the exception of the knob (which is cool but may not be worth the $60 more plus switches if you swap out the ones the non-Pro comes with) my board is in the same ballpark, functional but not as "nice" as my wife's/son's GMMK Pro.
I was such a fan when I saw Glorious' post on instagram about this, but now I probably wouldn't stop scowling at this knowing the price. I'd just get a different num/macro pad, and swallow the missed opportunity to have a good looking one.
Okay I'm the demographic for this, an accountant. I use the montex pad by idabao as it has basically the same footprint but an additional row and column of keys. I don't know who would pay $130 for a numpad and buy this?! The barebones montex pad is only $80 too....
Most numpads I've seen recently are being used as macro pads, so it seems companies are pricing it as dock stations for streamers and other products like it, just disguised as "its a super customizable numpad full of bells and whistles for no particular reason!"
That's what I've been thinking. I use to be a huge fan. Fell in love with the Model-O, got the wrist rests thick and thin, then one for brother. I use to highly recommend their mice to all my friends. Now with the group buys and the "guild" emails, I've backed away. Even got myself a gpx. They really became villains.
Sent an email to their sales team, pretty much stating that i'd love to buy one, but after seeing their other keybs around 75 dollars, i think this is a ridiculour price point. I'd love to switch my current game pad
I switched to TKL because I needed more room, but realized I do need the numpad for data keeping. Shame this is so unreasonably expensive because I’d buy it immediately. I’d spend $50 on it at most.
I was considering buying the GMMK Pro plus an aftermarket numpad... whoo boy am I glad I got a Keychron Q6 instead. It's super beefy and I'm really happy with it as my first custom keeb.
Yeah, glad I’m not the only one who feels differently about glorious. Was set on buying the model o wireless and gmmk pro, found keychron and went that route instead
I agree with virtually the entire review, except for the comments on the knob/slider. More buttons on my board means I can use the same mouse for gaming as I do for productivity, but to each their own. For pairing with the GMMK Pro, I've found the KBDPAD MkII to be an excellent option, the angle is pretty close and the case corners are identical. Misses side RGB and gaskets, but on a numpad those are unnecessary. I will also investigate a pass through patch style cable on my setup, thanks for that idea.
I need a numpad for work. This one fits all the requirements aside from the outlandish price and the awful logo which guarantees it will only match with glorious boards. Its so close to being exactly what I want and have been trying to find for years, oh well.
Glad I've seen this review. I've been a Glorious fanboy ever since I've gotten a GMMK Pro during the group buy, and also picked up a Model O and had been very satisfied. I got the email for the GMMK Numpad and honestly, at first sight wanted to buy it. I too took a look at current prices and felt taken advantage of, even I can't debate spending almost the same price as the group buy GMMK Pro on a numpad.
Yep i just found out about it today. Excitedly opened the page expecting something reasonable, but i mean a numpad that cost the same amount as the GB for my main keyboard (after adding like a single plate and another small item) is not justifiable
what's wrong with the pricing? It's competitive or even good. Keychron Q0 with no knob or sliders is like $90. $130 with knob/slider plus wireless. I think it's a steal IMO if it works well
Got one. It is perfect for my Razer Blade 15 Advanced laptop, though the numpad is very heavy. I bought it for the cnc build quality and wireless features. I imagine it is best matched to their $169 keyboard. I think it is quality over bargain pricing.
I mean look at the gmmk pro, to completely build one it is over $300. That huge price allowed them to increase the price of other things to come closer to that.
It truly sucks too because we know they can make good products, we've seen it. For all their QC problems they make some of the best mice on the market. You perfectly summed up my feelings on what glorious has been up to.
I’ve had 3 MOW lemons right out of the box, turned me off Glorious as a company. Glad I had that experience before buying a keyboard too. Bought a Logitech super light X and haven’t looked back.
Imagine getting a GMMK pro pre build (350) and the numpad (130) a grand total of 480 plus sf! not to mention you'll be changing stock switches, caps and stabs etc etc
I’ve had a lot of glorious products over the years and honestly it took me over a year to get off my a** and put the gmmk pro together after ordering an fr4 plate and gmk keycaps for it. Just to be completely underwhelmed. Oh well, plenty of other peripheral companies out there.
As someone who uses gmk caps on a K95 pro i can say that the caps are great and made th board a looot better, but in any aspect oter than for average gamer joe it is still bad.
I honestly don't know what went through the mind of the employees' minds at Glorious, you can buy a Leopold FC980m for 120, and that is arguably the best prebuilt 1800 out there.
In my country at least, the Fc980m is discontinued and the Gmmk2 96 is the only option in the same price category. Got other cheaper Chinese 1800 layout options however
Does the Leopold FC980m come with: - encoder - slider - RGB backlight for profile/layer indication - wireless interface ? No, it doesn't. Instead, it's a very high quality, budget 1800 layout keyboard with great PBT caps. Not even hot swap switches btw. It's a different fucking product, okay?
Since it's QMK, wonder if it's ViAL compatible - but that price is steep compared to other offerings, yes it looks amazing - no they didn't give customization options without it being an upsale. Only numpad I've seen in this price point are the Topre based ones, which I would possibly take over this. Glorious has grown outside of what they used to stand for imo.
The thing is, I want a 17 key numpad and the options for that are limited. Everyone seems to think that 21 key is the way to go for numpads and the only 17 key available are cheap plastic or from a two year old group buy. Will I buy this? No. I don't need bluetooth, a slider or a knob either.
I loved their mice so I got the gmmk pro as my first keyboard build, I liked it but it came with a lot of threaded screws so I couldn’t swap out the stabilizers for the space bar and enter, tried asking if I could get a replacement or help on getting them out and I got a pretty bad response from them that really turned me off. Haven’t bought from them since.

Ok, I love that you speak out of theeth words. I like that you are not tied to what you will say from each company. For that you deserve a tone of credits BadSeed!
Damn Brian, you went hard on them and I respect you for that.
Good on you for being upfront about you affiliations, makes your info much easier to trust

FINALLY. I've been waiting for something like this for YEARS. That and keyboards with numpads on the left. Great for productivity.
Brutally honest. Needed from a trusted source. Well done.
In between their fashion endeavors and group buys, Glorious speed runs into Finalmouse territory!
not even finalmouse does this stuff LMAO
Appreciate your honest take. Subscribed.
considering all the cool keyboards that I want nowadays don't have media controls or numpads, this seems like an acceptable compromise.
What are numpads/macropads/stream decks that you *do* recommend?
I 1000% agree with what you said about glorious as a company. I haven’t felt right supporting them for awhile now. Especially since the knockoff aether keycaps
I originally thought it was a pretty neat product when I saw it, but as the video went on I found myself agreeing with every point you brought up
I was actually pretty interested in this product to pair in southpaw orientation with a 65% or 75% layout keyboard, especially since it'd give me access to an additional knob and slider,
but after I saw the price I decided to pass on the first preorder batch and do some research first, and I'm glad I did.
I might even still be interested in this product regardless of numpad functionality, reprogramming the keys entirely and just using it like a macro pad essentially, if only Glorious handled the execution better. 😒
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
I could see this thing but in a very different role: as a smart home remote. Encoder + slider + a bunch of keys + Bluetooth is a very unique and useful combination in that role
Well goodluck trying to adjust using their software. Lmao they promised us VIA support 2 years ago and there’s still no updates
My guy went OFF and didn't miss a BEAT. Love the video, couldn't agree more on everything that was said, good and bad.
Glorious joining the "nah no more list". Right beside Rama and GMK
They made their name by using popular designs and making slight improvements
This move by glorious makes it seems like they’d be the type of roommate who marks where their oj level was with a sharpie in the fridge but still helps themselves to pizza when you offer
murphpad : )
It's soldered but it's also $34 and has oled and knob
I was contemplating getting one until I heard about the announcement for this and was all for this until I saw everything pointed out in this video, especially that $130 price tag. Now I'm definitely gonna go with the murphpad or similar products
@@daftpunk672 Mechwild has some of the most interesting kits.

I have no doubt you'll be hitting 1 million+ subscribers one of these days. Awesome job on this as always.
Totally agree on your view of Glorious now a days.
Great to see such an honest opinion about this.
Honestly, having a numpad as an engineer does help a lot on doing CAD work
It critical for me working as an accountant
No punches pulled. I love it. And totally agree; they became that which they promised to fight.
I really appreciate the criticism about how Glorious has been. They need to hear it. I've always felt like they were really close to greatness, just mismanaged. Well whatever management was steering them wrong just took full control cause this is completely insane.
Glorious has gone bonkers
I have a lot of love for the glorious products I've bought. The Gmmk Pro was my first and so far only custom keyboard but it's pretty much perfect to me after some personalization, and the Model D- is one of my favorite ergo mice.
I want the numpad just to have a left side numpad, to save room for my mouse when playing shooter games. But I genuinely don't understand what a second knob is for
I have the Mammoth20 on my desk and that beatiful, heavy, solid pice of metal was only $109 plus shipping.
another banger of a video, amazing review.
Keep toping your self king 👑❤️
I think I'd pay maybe $70-80 for this thing. they're crazy.

"its gross" very well put, could not have said it better myself.

Yeah I have the glorious model d, And I saw the GMM two come out, was kind of blown away at the price they were asking.
Enjoyed the upsell counter.
/soapbox
Speaking of, do you have any other southpaw style keebs you could recommend?
Thanks for the video, I didn’t know about the Q0 and that seems like a no brainer over this, for what I need
Appreciate your realness as always.
Oof that price is rough. Thankfully I don't have a need for a numpad. Thank you for your raw honesty!

Love the raw honesty, thanks for the vid! Didn't know OnePlus made keyboard tech...
I wish I could find a key board with nav + num pad cluster on the left. Or something like this that included the nav keys.
Another great review on the product & company. Totally agree with you & always love the honesty.
Sent an email to their sales team, pretty much stating that i'd love to buy one, but after seeing their other keybs around 75 dollars, i think this is a ridiculour price point. I'd love to switch my current game pad

@@badseedtech Thanks! If they make a 65% version I'll be sold...
I like it. I'm probably going to buy one. I have a mode 65, but I like this numpad.

Great video and I think your attitudes and sentiments are right on point.
I just cancelled my order. I was super stoked to pre-order it, then it hit me that I had customized a $180 numpad.
I think it's a steal IMO if it works well
You'll need the numpad to add up all of your add-on costs!
I have a Keychron Q5 1800 keyboard for when I need a numeric pad.
Seems like they are going the Mountain Everest and Asus Claymore route with this - if you bought a TKL but changed your mind after kind of thing.
Got one. It is perfect for my Razer Blade 15 Advanced laptop, though the numpad is very heavy. I bought it for the cnc build quality and wireless features.
I imagine it is best matched to their $169 keyboard. I think it is quality over bargain pricing.
As someone with 2 GMMK pros I agree!
Sheesh respect the honesty even for affiliate
I mean look at the gmmk pro, to completely build one it is over $300. That huge price allowed them to increase the price of other things to come closer to that.

It truly sucks too because we know they can make good products, we've seen it. For all their QC problems they make some of the best mice on the market. You perfectly summed up my feelings on what glorious has been up to.
I’ve had 3 MOW lemons right out of the box, turned me off Glorious as a company. Glad I had that experience before buying a keyboard too. Bought a Logitech super light X and haven’t looked back.
keychron for me would've been stupid shipping costs, I end up getting barebones GMMK Pro and the V2 GMMK from glorious

Got other cheaper Chinese 1800 layout options however
Leopold makes the best prebuilts, period. Their keycaps are so good that some people harvest them and use it for other boards.
@@J7T800I totally agree. I haven't owned an MX Leopold board but I do own an FC980c, the keycaps are crazy good.
Does the Leopold FC980m come with:
- encoder
- slider
- RGB backlight for profile/layer indication
- wireless interface
?
No, it doesn't. Instead, it's a very high quality, budget 1800 layout keyboard with great PBT caps. Not even hot swap switches btw. It's a different fucking product, okay?
@@neoqueto here come the glorious shills
