    It's cool to get comms like this from the designers/manufacturers.
    I hope your venture is a success.

      Thanks heaps for the feedback mate! Let me tell you I get why most manufacturers don't do it, it is really hard to deal with criticism and then to pause and turn around and admitting you might be on the wrong path. Most people will dig their heels in and dismiss the feedback and then wonder later why it didn't go so well. I rather have to deal with the "discomfort" upfront and make a successful product straight of the bat. Time will tell if that was a good idea, but your feedback is certainly encouraging us to continue.

    Ill admit that my reluctance to pre-order would has mostly come from seeing people who got burnt by the Taipan but in saying that and seeing how transparent you guys seem to be aiming for, I think ill be pre-ordering. Honesty is key, like you said, if you let people know (even with delays) they can stomach that, being kept in the dark as the alternative can hurt companies. With my online business even with supply issues I've always let customers know what's going on and even with delays I've always received positive feedback. People will be happy to pay a bit extra for something that works, is reliable, built here and is accurate for purpose. Can't wait for the Stockade.

      @@hugotyson308 Hi mate, we are still playing around with the design of a full length stock, but it requires either custom timber stocks made in turkey or a plastic mold, and a mold this size would require the sale of thousands of units in order to bring the price down to something reasonable. We are still looking into it, but gut feel tells me that the financials might not add up if we can get the Stockade accepted in NSW and Vic. Tassy alone wouldn't support the numbers. Great video. Hopefully you guys incorporate basic features like a case deflector and slightly flared mag well into the next prototype revision. I know you are trying to avoid it looking like an AR15, but please don't ignore the refined ergonomics and functionality perfected in the AR15 design. Also I'm guessing most people want 1:8 twist because it can stabilise both heavy and light projectiles, whereas 1:12 might struggle with heavier rounds. Better to over-stabilise a 55gr round with 1:8, than under-stabilise a 77gr round with 1:12, I guess? But still, testing will tell the truth. Cheers.

    • @AustralianSportingAgencies
      @AustralianSportingAgencies  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great comment! We are investigating to internally flare the magazine well as we are limited by the maximum outside diametre. Meaning that if we were to fully flare the mag well, we would require a larger piece of aluminum as the receiver is made from a solid billet, this in turn would increase the overall tool time and material cost by a fair bit. What might be more likely is to allow for an after market mag well to be added. I will discuss with the team, so thanks for the feedback!

  • @CJBrunt
    @CJBrunt 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Keeping the machining simple for cheaper cost makes sense. If someone really wants to pay extra for e.g. m-lok or lightening cuts everywhere, theyre still better off buying a cheap unmilled gun and then paying that extra for the exact aftermarket customisation they want.

    I see an ar180, i immediately have an interest. That said, there are certainly some things that make them work. The 2 part drive rod in the brn180 allows for a softer set of springs, which, reduces counter pressure against the drive rod. Hence the bend. Canadian ar180s having a single piece drive rod have innumerable failures. Even when using a 10mm rod. Which is massive, and heavy. As for drive rod return springs, ive got nothin. I have had piston AR-15s and ar10s that didn't bind. But the have a cupped bushing, it's possible that helps.

    The problem with 1:12 twist rates is we don't have a good availability of M193 here for some reason. It's easier to get ADI 5.56 in the USA than it is in Australia which is ridiculous.

    • @AustralianSportingAgencies
      @AustralianSportingAgencies  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know right?! While at shot show I learned that the dealers in the US only make 0.3-0.5 cents per round, so basically nothing, which explains also why the ammo is so "cheap" over there. However, the accessories are super expensive due to the fact that the dealers need to make money on something. Go figure.

    • @CJBrunt
      @CJBrunt 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The whole issue with twist rates is twofold.
      1.Specific rates are for specific projo weights/styles so most manufacturers go with a generic average thats 'ok' for the broadest range of projos.
      2. Most shooters arent ballistics experts, so they just go with 'what they know' or what theyve seen before. Now that may upset the ballistic purists, but for commercial sales, giving the 'average shooter' what he thinks is 'right' is the correct answer by the online-poll to maximise sales, even if it isnt actually the scientific optimum.
      Its like manual-v-auto in performance cars, every revhead thinks he can instinctively change gears 'better' than a slush-box, wheras for at least 99% of drivers its not, but manual boxes still sell.

    Just advice on the barrels. If using high grade match projectiles going to an 8 twist will not effect accuracy in any meaningfull way. We build a lot of target rifles. Most IPSC shooters will likley want to run 69gr projectiles not 55s. An 8 twist will shoot up to 77gr projectiles well. A 12 twist won't stabilise a 69gr projectile.
    As for caliber conversions eg complete uppers. With 9mm you can potentially get 9mm inserts for P Mags that way the 9mm could run in the 223 lower. Other calibers need to be based on the 223 Maxwell eg 223, 300 BO, 350 Legend and also look at 300 Hamr. 350 Legend and 300 Hamr both can make IPSC Major Power factor with factory ammo in a 16" barrel. Going to a 308 based firearm is a good idea however I would think it would be a fait way down the line as you need to completely engineer everything except the trigger mechanism. Also as this is based on an AR180 I don't believe anyone has scaled one up to 308 based cartriges so you will have a lot of R and D and I'm not sure that the end product would be appealing as the weight would be excessive.

      @@glennkester6231 me too mate. I love my .308 Very Carron speedline because it is light and easy to carry, but the eureka .308 will be my culling gun and hopefully she will have great accuracy, which means I can go long from the vehicle at night. Stay tuned, more info on the Eureka coming tomorrow or Thursday.

    Has NSW come to the party yet?

    • @AustralianSportingAgencies
      @AustralianSportingAgencies  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, we have not yet engaged with them, so there is no progress at this point as the firearm has not been completed, hence LGS can not make an assessment on the firearm. Once we complete the design, we will submit it for registration and then we will find out what they will say. We will keep all that discussion public so everyone can be part of how this works. Stay tuned.

      yup mate, it certainly is. Rules are an issue if they are subjective which they shouldn't be or when they are not applied equally. Fingers crossed we get through it.

      @@JD-nf3rd sorry I had to, was in a funny mood when I saw your comment. I know what you mean tho. We are working on making the design slicker, it is just a fine line between sweet looks and price. The price needs to stay as low as possible so that a lot of people can afford it which is our primary concern. If we can make it look amazing and not increase costs we will. We are also considering a lux version that looks apart. Stay tuned!
