    Never messed with MIDI, for the same reasons you mentioned at the start of the video. Thanks for the explanation. I think I’m going to give it a shot-this simplifies things a ton.

    Great video, thank you. I'm going to get a Jet MCX eventually. Having the ability to send multiple MIDI commands gets us beyond the 3 Snapshot limit of the HX Stomp.

    Good video. Personally, I like leaving MIDI Ch 1 open whenever possible. That makes it easier to just plug a factory new pedal into the rig to demo it or deal with pedals that listen on all channels by default.

    Great video, super helpful to understand the MCX since there isn’t much out there on the pedal. One thing I didn’t find in any other info is that the messages are sent on the release of the button, not the press. Wanted people to be aware if they are looking at the MCX.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it helped! And yes...Junior talked about that as a feature...like you could go ahead and step on a switch when you have time and to get ready and then release at the precise moment you want!

    The Jet MCX, Disaster Area Midi Baby and DMC Micro, Morningstar MC3... some really nice compact controllers out there for small boards.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Those are some good options as well. Those Disaster Area pedals can't do as much, (which may be fine) for example the DMC Micro only "Controls up to three MIDI devices". The MC3 is a beast AND it looks great AND has a screen. But it's just a little bit bigger. If I had more room, I would look it that for sure. I just love the look! And they've thought of everything as well.

Got interested in the HX Stomp while taking some time off over Christmas and have been trying to decide how I would incorporate it into my current rig if I decide to give it a try. Not currently a MIDI user but this is giving me some really good ideas! Really appreciate your heart for leading worship and investing in others doing the same.

    • @wbwright2
      @wbwright2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem Jimmy, keep it up, your enthusiasm and positive attitude are an encouragement. My current signal chain is...
      MXR Custom Comp -> Mad Prof Little Green Wonder -> EHX Soul Food -> Tech 21 Blonde (Amp Sim) -> Volume/Tuner -> Empress Echosystem -> TC Arena -> DI direct to mixer
      Ordered the Stomp last night, think I will try using drives in the Stomp along with snapshots and a MIDI controller for starters and maybe replace drives with something midi controlled in the future...idk?

    I 100% understand why you chose a small board... ive done it too where I go from a big board with 10 pedals to a small board with only 4 pedals to keep it as simple as possible... but it looks like you could benefit from getting a bigger board because I know you probably already miss your volume pedal

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha...yeah, that's always the struggle. I'm pretty comfortable using my volume knob but it def isn't as good. I still kept my VP, so I could throw it in front of my board if I really want it on a particular day.

    This is so good. You know your gear so well! How do you remember what does that, though? Wouldn't it be a lot easier if it had a screen like the Morningstar does?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, the screen would be nice. But then you have the size issue. I could get a bigger board, but I'm really trying to keep things as small as possible. But to keep my mind organized, I keep each bank a song, and have 3-8 sounds pre-programmed in each bank (leaving the other 2 for scrolling). Song 1 = Red Bank, Song 2 = Green bank and so on. And since you can save your presets or "songs" in the editor, you don't have to recreate them again. If in 3 weeks we do song 1 again, but we play it as song 3 in the set, I can just send all those settings back into the MCX in the 3rd bank.

    • @pdepurpurina
      @pdepurpurina 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the in depth tutorial and review. I just got the MCX. Do you notice a short delay on short press? I assigned short press to change my snapshots but there is a slight delay. Any workaround for this issue?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there is a very slight delay as the these are smart switches and they need to make sure you are just doing a short press. The new ones have to wait to see if you are going to do a long press...but they now have it to where you can turn that off if you don't want it

  • @CraigCrider
    @CraigCrider 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A really handy video. I'm looking to add a midi controller early next year to my Stomp. I've been considering the MC6 since I have space and I like the display. If I had less space to work with, the MCX would be a frontrunner for sure. Maybe it's a nitpick but on the MCX editor, should not the Channel be the first thing? Seems backward and potentially confusing to select the CC# BEFORE you select the device channel. Channel>CC>Value just makes more sense in my head.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree about the editor. I also would change some of the wording in the editor like "Start Over." I didn't want to click that at first, because I thought it would erase what I just did. As far as the MC6, that thing looks awesome. If you have the space, it's probably a good option as well. I haven't messed it before.

    Hey thanks for the walk through. I just want to ask, since it's not directly explained on your content,
    1. where are the TRS cables from the Revelation and Arrow going to from your pedalboard?
    2. during midi control settings on you mac, are all 3 pedals connected via USB to your mac?
    @HeyWorshipLeader

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s actually a midi junction box under the pedalboard!

  • @lcglazer
    @lcglazer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I see you created some setups on the green bank. But how do you select the green bank? I see your MCX is already on green so you can just go from there. But say I'm in green and I want to switch to blue - how do I do that?
    It seems the Midi controller can do a lot. You can have one button affect multiple things on multiple pedals at once. Currently I'm thinking simple. I want to access a color bank to access presets in one pedal, and then access another color bank to scroll presets of another pedal. Is there an easier way to do what I'm thinking, or am I on the right track?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’re on the right track. I think junior the builder uses it in a similar way. A short press of all 3 switches changes bank colors

    Great sounds ! I like your vid’s a whole lot. I have a question: first of all, I am about to put together a small HX Stomp based pedalboard like yours. But I have one specific objective: I want to be able to navigate a whole set with 1 foot switch… Sitting all by itself away from any other thing I could hit by accident … No aiming necessary… And that switch would just go to the next preset on the midi controller with one short press. How might I accomplish that? I’m klutzy and my foot - eye coordination is not good ... especially when I’m trying to play.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can hook up an external foot switch to scroll through presets via Foot Switch 4 ....most people use a dual foot switch to scroll up and down...if you use a single foot switch once you went past a preset you'd have to bend down to go back....which might be fine for you.
      You could use a simple foot switch like this one from JHS: www.amazon.com/Jhs-RedR-JHS-Remote-Footswitch/dp/B06XYQLXGC/ref=asc_df_B06XYQLXGC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312151212938&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15798644299894822065&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009718&hvtargid=pla-505505116997&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=65054436434&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312151212938&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15798644299894822065&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009718&hvtargid=pla-505505116997
      Or a single switch midi baby controller like this one from Disaster Area: www.disasterareadesigns.com/shop/p/midi-baby
      Hope that helps

      @@HeyWorshipLeader Man thanks a lot for your reply. Gonna be getting a Jet Micro HX 3.0 but good lord is it annoying to source a low profile MIDI Cable. they really should have stock of some to bundle with your order so you aren't having to scrounge the web for pedalboard friendly options. I was very close to going with Disaster Area over them for this reason but the MIDI Baby 3 has less viability in its uses so JET won out there.
