I had to subscribe.... this was such a peaceful tutorial without dogs barking or fed ex trucks throwing packages on doorsteps around you.

Ha, all that nonsense ends up on the cutting room floor. :)

Big thumbs up for that fix! I can't help thinking that you should just get into the habit of pressing the button when lifting the hand brake for now on.

+Tommy Oz The interesting thing is that I've generally done that, anyway, since I bought the car new 22 years ago. I guess it's just age and mechanical things eventually wear out.

Brilliant video. Excellent quality, beautifully explained and demonstrated, and you really improved my understanding of what's actually going on in there. You have given me the confidence to tackle this job myself now - thanks a heap :-)

Shows the ebrake light switch! Mine's busted and the cable-replacement videos don't show that.
I love the way you fixed the old handle instead of buying a new one--way less work than going to the store or placing an order.

that's why manual says to press button before using the end brake

Thank you this helped me, I ultimately pulled a better one from the scrapyard, the previous owner had a spot welded nightmare

MrSigaga Pretty neat, eh? I was surprised when I discovered that it was possible to repair that way.

Awesome, a component from before we became a throwaway society! I'd bet any similar component on a modern car would purposely be designed in a way to make this kind of repair impossible, requiring replacement of the entire assembly.

Genius. I'm going to try that

my mates button on the parkbrake lever is stuck in handle on his 1994 vs Commodore Ute. Will it come out tightening the adjusting behind the the hubs?

+Josh Dontno If the button is stuck inside the handle, I would remove the console as I did in this video and take the lever out. Then repair or replace the handle.

Nice curiosity: The seat pattern was only used in European models, so your 94 GLX is one which was manufactured in Germany. Aren't these german GLX very rare in the states? And do you still own this car?

Mine was built in Mexico and apparently these early MK3's were assembled much by hand. I bought it new and, yes, i still have it. It has been parked for a while waiting for me to fix a coolant leak. I bought the metal Eurowise thermostat housing and crack pipe but haven't gotten around to installing them yet.

@@WorseThanChiggers Wow - still in the hands of the first owner :) Nice that you keep it. Will you do new videos?
      Greetings from Germany

@@ropa219 Well, Hallo and Guten Tag to you in Germany from me in the USA! Thanks for all the kind comments. Life has taken me indoors for things like home renovation projects. Perhaps when winter is over I'll produce some more videos of the coolant leak repair.

Interesting, I thought the first 94 GLX's were built in Wolfsburg. I have WVW 94 glx vin.

Sorry to hear that. If you can't figure that out, you may be better of getting a replacement from your junk yard.
