The Philippines has some of the lowest labour costs in the world. It costs very little to hire someone to batch cook and clean every other day, and saves a massive amount of time. Having a personal chef makes it more likely that you will eat healthy food because it's sitting in the fridge, rather than indulging on a snack. I recommend giving it a try by having someone come for a full day once per week, doing a deep clean, washing and ironing sheets and other laundry, chopping of onions potatoes vegetables and some food prep for a meal or two. If she is smart enough to cook at the same time she cleans, let her go early with a full day's pay and remember to let her enjoy some of the food she cooked. You can find someone by going to a nearby church and asking the Padre if there is an honest lady in need of a day of work per week to help supplement her family.

These interviews are great, but I can’t help wondering what are these guys back stories who come to a place like The Philippines at a late stage of life. What were they doing for the first few decades of their lives ? Just saying…
They come to the Philippines late in life because of affordability. You try living on 2000 bucks a month in the States. The rent alone is at least 1200 of that.
From my experience and other Americans I've talked to, maintenance medicine in the Philippines is more expensive than America. And, you still have to carry a pharmaceutical plan in America if you don't want to be penalized if you ever return to America.
If you're living in the US without insurance and are informed that you will be needing medication for a fairly common condition such as hypertension or high cholesterol you can request a complete list of generic drugs from Wal-Mart pharmacy included in their 90 day $10 program and present it to your doctor to prescribe from.

Dan, are local e-sims available in any of the East Asian countries? I got a new phone and there is no slot for a regular sim. The e-sims I am finding online are way more expensive than any local plan.
I am going to buy a phone especially for the Philippines with two SIM cards.. my sister took me to the Apple store and was going to give me a fancy Apple phone that did not have a SIM card.. I told her I wanted a SIM card so instead of getting the latest Apple phone I got a iPhone 13 with a SIM card. Do not know anything about technology but I think I could manage better with a SIM card.. these phone companies are trying to put us in the trick bag😅😅😮😮😊😊 I am in my late sixties and I think I have already been tricked enough during my lifetime to last me the rest of my lifetime..hehe😮😮😊😊

Though more expensive, you can assign your American courier to the esim slot without the plastic sim card instantly. The remaining sim card slot to smart or globe.

Hello, how do i get in touch with Robert.? I'm traveling to Philippines in February and would love to chat with him, get some advice etc.
Hello @kasiaihenio4400, His channel is in the description below this video. Just leave him a message he always replies. All of our videos have a webpage that has the information discussed in that video so you don't have to take notes. The link to that web page for this video is the first link in the description below this video.
In case you don't know how to find the link, here is a TH-cam video teaching how:

Haay .in life we cannot be too calculative.if we have more blessings we share with someone .after all when we leave this world we can't bring anything with us .
Well it's an individual decision and approaches btw .
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Dan, are local e-sims available in any of the East Asian countries? I got a new phone and there is no slot for a regular sim. The e-sims I am finding online are way more expensive than any local plan.
Buy a cheap android with a sim slot and use it as a hot spot for your nazi phone (or throw it away). e-sims are too expensive for me. :-) .
That's too bad. I'm still a few years away from traveling. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be better options by then. If not, then I'll figure something out. Thanks for your responses.
Though more expensive, you can assign your American courier to the esim slot without the plastic sim card instantly. The remaining sim card slot to smart or globe.
Living the dream on $20 bucks a day! Love to know if he had a large retirement pension if he would still live the same!
You can do just about anything with an internet speed if 25/12 or 50/20 unless you are in IT and need big upload.
As far as power, if appliance is off with no standby it uses nothing !
Thank you Robert and Dan for a great interview!! Robert must spend something for health care, no? Dental cleanings and an eye exam once a year? Dan, does pension mean social security or did he only qualify for a pension (his age or occupation)? Thanks!
His pension is social security in this case.
Siquijor island should be interesting for pensioners, but not all
The alternative clear point: Young Filipinas go for the oldies because they’re waiting for them to keel over. 99% love money not the guy. Just grow up and be realistic.
That doesn't happen in other places?
Very cool 😎
Vampire power draws 10-20% of your power used!you pay that much more monthly on your bill for nothing....unplug
You can put things on a power strip and turn it off when not using.i also do laundry, run dishwasher, charge things when the power is the cheapest each day .sometimes these cheaper times of day will change with seasons.your power comp. Can tell you all the information for your area so you can save
Is it humid and do they have typhoons?
If this guy doesn't have an expensive healthcare event, he could seriously live 10 years for $100K
@@RetireandGo Awesome, I'm looking to join you in 2 years.
I love your list, I would just add "eat your veggies", of course I'm a vegan, so that may not work for some.
@@RetireandGo One other thing, I just subscribed to your channel. I'm very interested in the Malaysian parts of Borneo and there is not a lot of TH-cam content on it. Should you ever make it there I would love to hear your perspective.
Hi DAN , Great interview , ROBERT seems like a nice guy.
He has clean eating ,living. WOW
Ty GOD BLESS you and your gf. CIAO
Understand
Unplugging electric device when their not being use is pointless. They are NOT USING power. $600 dollars a a month for rent/food/water/electricity? Lets see your place and the area??

Did you feel like a Dentist trying to extract a straight answer on his overall expenses? I guess maybe $950/month but who knows?
Interesting man and a good interview.
How do you spell sikihipor ? Thanks
Here is the Google Maps link to the island: maps.app.goo.gl/LVrrfaf5AbwLgLur9
How does Robert collect his pension in the Philippines?
I didn't ask. But most people have it deposited directly into their USA bank account and pull $$ out at ATMs when they need it.
Lol no hamburgers, but bacon every day 😅 bacon is ...
Makati or cebu. Best hodpitals for a heart attack or stroke.
That is what I hear also.
Smart
Rugby is the best.
Love Siquijor
"Bacon" isn't chicken and fish here in the United States.
Well, chicken, fish, and bacon😅😅
Smoked Bacon is from pork.
The American health care itself is typically great but the administration of Healthcare is a disaster
I can’t believe people just let their dogs bark constantly dogs are trainable make them mind make them obedient, much more enjoyable for everyone!!!
It will be hard to find a place without roosters and dogs barking. Such a noisy place!!! is there ever any peace and quiet anywhere in Southeast Asia?
It could be quite annoying with all those barking around .Many dogs barked at d slightest movement or human presence 😎
Seek and ye shall find 😮😮😊
Plenty of barking dogs right here in the u.s. I had to sell my house and move because of that. I would go nuts in a foreign country.
@@stevee9973 🤣🤣
is there any peace and quite in the cities of the USA???
Another crazy Philippines. Expat
Crazy like a fox.
@@VagabondAwake ok, nice guy.
The ones who are crazy are those who sit alone in their expensive city apartments paying through the nose just to survive.
👏👏👏👏👏
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That simple life sounds perfect for me.
