If you’re having a problem with your Coleman UT400 not shifting in reverse, this may help you fix it. The transmission is great, the shift link was the problem. Was not going into reverse.
This is a temporary fix. You should extend the shifter lever by 3/4”. This will change the throw needed to get the gear into each selection that is made. Also what I have found is on the newer units, the detent inside the engine is revised and causes the fork to bind in forward gear not allowing it to engage 100%. As compared to the older units the detent is too narrow of a span and the shift fork plate is too narrow of a window preventing full engagement.

Won't go into Neutral to allow Buggy to start
Mine starts in gear as long as the brake is pressed.
My is shifting great but it won’t keep the battery charged.
I believe there was a connection under the front hood I had to check when mine didn’t charge. I don’t have this machine any more.
