  • Hey everyone! Welcome back. I went out with my wife this evening for an hour to fish from the bank for striper in lower saluda and we caught a beast. Around 43”. I tried to let her handle the fish as much as she could, but it is a very large fish for a fairly small setup, so she needed a lot of help. I’m still very proud of Jess! Please like and subscribe to help the channel! Tight lines!

She didnt wanna grab him by the mouth, she didnt wanna hold him, she didnt want nothin to do with it if she had to touch him. Great catch. My wife caught a monster too that she couldnt hold, in the cumberland river at old hickory dam in Hendersonville tn in may 2006 It was 38 lbs. So she took the pic of me holding her fish. too bad for her. Lol

Massive. Good job. That being said, why was the wife so grumpy?

I think she was just nervous about doing something wrong. She doesn’t fish often

Another monster striper. Fish looked great at the release! Most people will fish a lifetime and never catch a fish of this caliber.

Thats a catch of a lifetime! Nice job, i live near the saluda river just between pickens and ealsey. Fishing the lake for big catfish is fun but ive tried striped bass fishing with little to no success. I think its my bait but i dont know where or how to get herring. Any advice?

Lake world sells herring almost year round by the dam. I know there’s a few other tackle shops along the lake that do so as well

Awesome fish man, congrats! I think you had time for a quick measurement and weight if you kept it in the water before lifting up for a sec, but better safe than sorry with a fish like that. Definitely a 30 pounder for sure, tank 💪

If it went over 45” I would have taken more time for dimensions but I knew we were just gonna get a pic and release

Awesome catch! Great teamwork with your wife. Just like mine.
I live in Murrells Inlet and am coming up this month to camp on the lake. Have you fished the lake by boat for stripers? By the dam in deep water I would think? Any knowledge would be appreciated!

Yes so I made a video of catching striper on the lake when the herring were spawning and easy. Best way to do it this time of year is go early in the morning and find points that you see them blowing up on. Also follow the birds. If you see them diving in the water, that means they are going after bait balls that striper are busting on. You can also troll around points if you’re into trolling methods. I’ve also dropped cut bait down near the towers at the dam about 50-100 feet and you can catch the big ones doing that. Hope any of this helps! And thanks for watching!

What size weight are you using for the lower Saluda? Thanks for the video.

You can’t go wrong with 1.5-2 ounce egg weights

@@PalmettoFlooringGallery I believe there are some striper there as well but they are land locked and won’t get as large as these that come from the sea. Not 100% sure but I think that’s correct
