- Water levels on the river has risen to flooding conditions and it causes certain sections of the river walk to be blocked due to flooding. Since access to the river walk has been limited, I decide to take my boat out on the river and the fishing action is better than expected. Due to the higher water conditions, these river stripers are on the move and actively feeding heavily on shad.

That day of fishing will be a day to remember. The high water due to Lake Murray releasing water down spillway. The stripers are making their way up to the lake Murray dam to spawn. Thanks for the great video.
It looks like 2 out of 3 were belly up. Your buddy should have held them on the side boat to help revive them.Stripers cannot last in a cooler( no water)for a long period of time. You need to make that decision once you bring it in the boat, either keep or release. No disrespect, I like your videos, but this one just hit me wrong. They closed the Congaree years back so the stripers could make a comeback. I would hate to see them have to do it again.

Thomas Newman boat landing and with the water being so high that time the boat dock actually was blocking the current so it was easier to launch. As far as American shad I haven’t heard of anyone catching them as far as that goes

@@jasontfishing No way those fish survived after being in a dry cooler for 15-20 minutes and just being tossed back. I know shit happens in the heat of the moment and you realized you had too many over 26" and tried to make it right, but just learn from it so we don't kill too may fish out of the amazing resources we have here. Great day of fishing though! I've had a few of those and I remember them all like they were yesterday.
Where I fish at in greenwood sc at the river called buzzard roast when they get in the river pretty good we catch them about the size yall catching them I know that was fun

Yes that’s a scrounger head and I just anchored upstream and let the current push against the boat to keep it from moving

I have a 14ft Jon boat that I sometimes use my Honda CR-V to toe if I’m river fishing so I don’t think it’s a problem cuz the boat is not heavy

Cant understand why anyone would keep a fish. Theyre slimy, a lot have worms, parasites, gill maggots, you have to clean them, gut them, fillet them, just go to long john silvers for $6. Nasty, seriously. Theyre just fun and challenging to catch, but let them go
