Welcome back everyone! In this episode while on vacation with my family, my wife and I booked a charter with Captain Bill down in the low country to angle for redfish. He mentioned he could probably find some bulls during off season and I said “put me on em sir”. Well he sure did! We catch 2 big bulls and then spend the rest of the day playing with sharks and finally a large ray. Thanks for wat...

Monster Striper on Lower Saluda with wife!
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey everyone! Welcome back. I went out with my wife this evening for an hour to fish from the bank for striper in lower saluda and we caught a beast. Around 43”. I tried to let her handle the fish as much as she could, but it is a very large fish for a fairly small setup, so she needed a lot of help. I’m still very proud of Jess! Please like and subscribe to help the channel! Tight lines!

Nice fish dude 👍🏽
I have the same exact waiters as you.
That railroad trellis is incredible. Never gets old. Great smallies!
Crazy I fish the same ultralight rod but with a daiwa fuego.. but use the same plueger with a mega bass rod.
You near the dam above the park? Raised fly and spinner fishing right there. Just got in from Murray on my hobie lynx. Great day finesse fishing. 😊
What size weight are you using for the lower Saluda? Thanks for the video.
You can’t go wrong with 1.5-2 ounce egg weights
Got myself four babys, two electric n two normal jack dempseys🐟💪.
The electrics are very sensitive. I had to baby mine to get it this big!
@@TheEricInman Good job g he looks great, hopefully I can grow em to that size. I plan on buying a 120 gallon after growing em a lil in my 20.
Where is some good public spots on the saluda to get on some stripers?
I live here in Columbia as well and would love to find a local expert to go fishing with.
Massive. Good job. That being said, why was the wife so grumpy?
I think she was just nervous about doing something wrong. She doesn’t fish often
Where is a good spot to fish from bank. I want my kids to catch a decent striper? Thanks for the videos
There really aren’t many that are easy to access. The ones I use I kayak to usually.
Thats a catch of a lifetime! Nice job, i live near the saluda river just between pickens and ealsey. Fishing the lake for big catfish is fun but ive tried striped bass fishing with little to no success. I think its my bait but i dont know where or how to get herring. Any advice?
Lake world sells herring almost year round by the dam. I know there’s a few other tackle shops along the lake that do so as well
Nice
Glad to see you posting again.
I live in White Knoll and you're making me want to fish the broad River now. It seems like every cast your hooking something
Video editing makes it seem that way. I spent a good 3 hours out there each day.
What kind of bait is that your using for the bass
I’m using Texas rigged worms, weighted fluke and sometimes a spook or popper.
@@TheEricInman thanks man
Is this South Carolina's broad River
It is
dude lets go fishing, looking to learn the Braod
That bird at the beginning is an Osprey. They’re everywhere up there. Also called fish hawks or fish eagles sometimes because they’re primarily fish eaters.
Too bad they don't live long otherwise I'd have at least 2
Stunning fish 2024👍
Is this Saluda river in Greenville county or Columbia area?
Lower saluda is in Columbia. This is lake Murray tail waters
@@TheEricInman awesome fish ! Thanks, I live close to Saluda river in Pelzer SC . Just curious as to where lower Saluda was .
@@PalmettoFlooringGallery I believe there are some striper there as well but they are land locked and won’t get as large as these that come from the sea. Not 100% sure but I think that’s correct
During herring spawn at Murray, is there a place to easily next them? Somewhere close to the towers perhaps
Along the sand beach over there you could net the herring a
Well done guys!!!
Thank you!
Suprising to see every electric blue jwck i have ever seen or owned die within weeks of purchasing them from the store. This is so rare to see one that size
Try liveaqauria.com. They are located in california but ship pretty much anywhere. Mine lived to be about 5 which is longer than most EBJD but still shorter than a regular Jack.
i am from the UK unfortunately they are readily available here but as i said never live past a few weeks. I have a stary night cichlid too such awesome looking fish@@TheEricInman
@@intergalacticmuffin7071 i agree both are beautiful fish. I’m sorry to hear that about the EBJDs in your area. They unfortunately are like that just about every where. Super prone to disease and just very weak fish in general
not a remotely suitable tank for this fish
Show me your 11” EBJD and we’ll talk
Stunning fish ❤
Wowww beautiful I had two about 3 inches but they didn’t make it now I have a Oscar tank
Nice fish
If you want some real fun, go down to Riverfront Park on the Broad, a bit upstream from where the Saluda and the Broad converge. Start at the I-126 bridge and scout upstream towards the Broad River bridge. Bigger patches of water there will hold some pretty nice flathead catfish, which you can land at night on small bream, which I believe are permissible to use as live bait as long as you use them where you catch them. Bring heavy tackle, and make sure to use live bait; a big ball of nightcrawlers is not bad, or crayfish...cut bait will mostly get you stripers, channels, blues, and of course gar. It's a patience game, but the payoff is tremendous. There are some large flatties a few hundred yards north of I-126 I guarantee you. That area is teeming with life.
Nasty looking water.
Muddy water still has great fish
Great catch and great job with release!
Thank you
Were you near Columbia
Close by yes
What did you use for bait?
Herring
@@TheEricInman Thanks, I was there last month and I didn't get anything. I will use your strategy
@@Nelsonaaguilar94 I catch them on artificial sometimes but cut bait is the best way to ensure you catch them
Fishy Pharmacist is interviewing a potential pharmacy technician. FP: What are your qualifications? PPT: I’m PTCB certified, I own an 18 foot Fishrite aluminum jet boat, and I like to fish. FP: Hired!!!
She didnt wanna grab him by the mouth, she didnt wanna hold him, she didnt want nothin to do with it if she had to touch him. Great catch. My wife caught a monster too that she couldnt hold, in the cumberland river at old hickory dam in Hendersonville tn in may 2006 It was 38 lbs. So she took the pic of me holding her fish. too bad for her. Lol
Love the videos. Keep them coming. That's a really great spot. I'm glad it takes some serious work to get too.
Me too. I kayak it pretty frequently, and I’m very glad there’s not an actual boat ramp nearby.
sad about the scale being dead! I'd take a length measurement just to have a frame of reference.
I had my bump board. Just forgot to use it
great as always!
Thank you!
Nice post! Did you ever caught them by topwater or swimbait at this spot?
I’ll go out on my kayak sometimes to do that but you can at this spot also
How did you get them to survive to adulthood? They are so fragile
The electric blue was tough to keep. He was very fragile. I was vigilant in making sure they had a 30% water change almost every single day for 5 years
@@TheEricInman thats amazing. I tried them twice, never had one make a month. They just aren't meant to exist I think
@@paulhopkins1905 I got some from local fish stores around my area in South Carolina and they never lived to maturity. This one I ordered from live aquaria online, it’s a store in california and I had two make it to adult hood out of 3! One was much more fragile than this one though and only made it about 2-3 years
@@paulhopkins1905 they arent meant to live long though. It’s like being an albino or something
@@TheEricInman I've had albino oscars live 10 years. I think there are other genetic issues with EBJD's
What did/reel combo are you using? Looks like the one I’m using…..
It's a Penn Pursuit 2 4000 reel on a medium heavy ugly stick GX2
@@TheEricInman that’s my reel! I bought a combo from academy about a year ago
@@TheEricInman love the channel especially since I live locally in the Columbia area.

Im gonna try floating the section from 99islands to Worth Mountain in a couple weeks. Any tips? Never done anything like this before.
spinners like mepps work really well in current. Hit all the eddies within the current that you can with jigs or weighted plastics. If you decide to use topwater, I suggest whopper plopper or buzzbait over walking baits in faster running water.
What was that spinning rod?
Shimano Clarus
cool video! enjoyed it all. can’t beat topwater
Thank you!
Enjoyed it as always
Thank you!
Good fishing fish..
Absolutely beautiful fish brotha
That was a mean mouth bass
