I had the privilege of sitting with this lady for lunch at an Ibiza event a few years ago. She is as nice as she comes across on this video. Such a down to earth lovely woman.

Brilliant! Roland make great innovatory instruments, we used lot's on our music including TB303, TR606/808, SH101, Juno 60, Jupiter 8 and more. We still have the TB303 and Juno 60, both are still in working order!
That insomnia riff she plays on the keyboard is iconic
As soon as they broke onto the scene they were clearly something special. They created real musical art. So sad at Maxi's passing.

Juno 106 went out of tune? Well it doesn't since it is a DCO-based Synth. DCO= Digital Controlled Oscillator, an oscillator that doesn't drift!Something that the 106 and all DCO-based synths have been criticized for as not being "real analogues" (Which is a stretch since the oscillators are still generated as analogue even if they are kept in tune by digital circuits.)

Watching Sister Bliss standing and dleivering at the Keyboards while 60K people around jump in unison, is one of the most definitive images of House Music (for me).
The JP8000 had no mention, what disrespect!. It originated the fat supersaw sound, and we all know she used it a lot back then. I know the synth is now way out dated, but why are people embarressed to have used it. Maybe it became too commercial?

This is what I call music and I think this what is wrong with all electronic these days is that artist feel boxed in by having to be part of a genre.

I saw them in Belgrade Serbia back in 2008-2009.. was the absolute loudest concert I've ever been too. Not my favorite band , but incredible live.

Interesting Studio. Progressively bigger Genelecs as surround speakers. What do you actually monitor Stereo on?
I love Genelecs for monitoring but I have a small room and I use 8030s.
I use to use Mission sm65A and they were awesome but they started crackling after about 15 years so I benched them for now.
Curious to see if the Genelecs are your main stereo monitors too?

lol she was my dream woman in the mid 90s (still is) and she also gave us pianists/keyboardists some much needed street cred after 5 years of guitar dominated grunge and hard rock! :)
Came here cause I just recreated the patch and the riff of Insomnia on my Sequential take 5 as an exercise. Wanted to know how it was made originally. The process made me go back and revisit Reverance. What an amazing album! Faithless has a special place in EDM!
RIP Jazz indeed, way too young taken from us. What I always liked about the songs from Faithless was the percussion, I called it the Bliss Drum parts, it had that special sound and energy, that's why I hate those live events, sorry Sister. An organic drum kit can't change the drum machine. < that sounds very weird, because I'm an analog guy 😆
Btw, I'm subscribed to another Roland Channel that look dead, is this the official channel? I'm a little puzzled. In the 80's I had 2x S1 samplers from Roland, the Juno of course, a D70 digi piano, and the DAW was Cubase one of the early versions, on a Amiga PC. I sold them for way under the price. And now I have a bunch of midi keyboards and a lot of software. But still not the same as the analog ones.
Juno 106 that kept going out of tune because it's analogue ?
It had 6 DCO's (digital oscillators), so it was a digital synth, with a VCF (analogue filter).
I think their Juno 106 was broken. DCO's were used in it as they were more stable than VCO's.
I hope many new albums will follow with new good dance music to go on. Synthesizer is a lovely track! And Sister Bliss is like Sister Bless.
recently finished my first ep using only roland gear. favorite company in the world. ever.

to this day..line up all the kicks..the 909 is just the best kick ever..
dont have a machine so ive looked for samples..its not the same..
