  • EASY Overview on removing a Jeep Wrangler JK or JKU Front Grille (Grill). Need to change a turn signal bulb, switching from Halogen to LED Headlights, Halos, LED Blinkers, swapping front grills or replacing inserts? It all starts with removing the front grill. DIY simple steps and video. Also, this shows you how to access front turn signals.
    The JL uses the same 6 clips. You do not have to disconnect the lower parking / turn signal with the JL or JT (Gladiator).

    When re-installing it, pay attention to the lower plastic pin that is located between (centered) all the lower clips, this helps you align the grill when reinstalling it.

      @@JohnsJeepGarage After watching your video yesterday I pulled the grill off, easy as you described. I have Quadratec LED, older version headlights. The passenger side light didn't come on the other day, but yesterday did. I checked the connections and they seemed fine and the light is still working??? I"m guessing the ballast or what ever it's called might be going to fail. Again thanks for your channel ... it really helps those of us not too mechanically inclined.

    Perfect thanks so much for this! Short into the point. I just want to put some black rust paint on that bar in front of the radiator and I wasn’t sure how the grill came out. Appreciate it!

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! I did the same thing. I think my Rust-Oleum black paint I put on that bar has lasted longer than any OEM factory paint ever has. It is funny how that is the first to show rust. I am glad it helped.

    • @momanddadplusus
      @momanddadplusus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnsJeepGarage Yea I just got it about a month ago and that rust really bothers me lol. The underside is very clean and rust free so I want to take care of that. I was looking at getting the metal inner fender liners but my OEM liners have plastic pop rivets holding them in. Have you ever made a video on how to remove those?

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely have replaced them but have not made a video on it. The reason is there are so many options for inner fenders and different installations. I didn't think about separating the video from how to remove the OEM inner fender as a single video but now you have given me a great idea for a new video.

    • @momanddadplusus
      @momanddadplusus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnsJeepGarage Gotcha, that makes perfect sense to me! Yeah I am pretty savvy at working on vehicles and normally would have no issues with this but I’ve never had a vehicle with pop riveted inner fender liners. Just wasn’t sure what the best way to go about removing them was. Would love to see a video if you ever have time!

    Thanks John, I need to do this to install the screws for headlight adjustment.

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be able to access the adjustment screws with a long handle torx wrench (star drive) from Harbor Freight (example). So you should see the access grove to the 2 screws without having to remove the front grill. It is easier to access with the grill removed but you it was designed to do without removing the grill if you are only adjusting the headlight. If you are removing them, then you have to remove the front grill. This link is an example of the wrench / tool.

    • @JohnsJeepGarage

      If you are talking about the pan handles on the black doors for the 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ, I can purchase different pan handles on Quadratec.com, Morris 4x4 and Extreme Terrain. I have a video on our channel "How to replace Jeep Wrangler TJ Door Handles" and there is a reference to specific black ones I purchased to replace the current rusty / chrome plated ones. Remember, there is a handle for the driver's side and passenger side. Otherwords, contact me through John's Jeep Garage on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and I will reply directly to you.
