    Seems like you are doing it right. Usually we ran the disk a week or two after we plowed. The disk might work better in dryer conditions.

      💪👍Hi Kevin! Roger that! I just picked up an old plow, so maybe I do that next and try discing again. Thanks for stopping by! Take care!! 🚜🇺🇸🍺

    Hi Mike. Steady away over it I suppose. Funny, I was at the garden centre the other day and I saw someone buying rocks!!! Just like the ones on your land. Just thought I would share that information with you lol. Take care and see you soon xxx

      🤣👍 Hi Annie! Right!? Funny how we are buying things others are trying to get rid of and so it goes!!! Have a great thanksgiving if I don’t see you before that!🇺🇸🚜🍺

    You need to get rid of “large” rocks first. Secondly you have to much vegetation, which is why farmers spray roundup so they can contact the soil with the disk. Third, you could get a “chisel” plow to turn the sod first, then you could switch to the disk.

    So you just discing to knock the grass down? That is a good way to encourage native grasses and forbs to come back. What they call strip discing If you don't disc it all up to bare dirt. Looking good buddy. If you are wanting to plant something there, it is best to plow it first then wait a week or so and then to disc it. Otherwise, you will be there a while discing. It is possible though. I am not expert but that is the way we do it anyways. Good luck.

      💪👍Hi Early Bird! Thanks I appreciate your thoughts on this. What you are saying makes sense. I am really hoping to get the area to a point where I can manage it somehow. Mow it or plant it. I guess I’ll see if I can get the rocks out and get the grass and weeds down. Take care!!!🍺🚜🇺🇸

    Is the disc adjustable? You need more angle on your disks and more weight. However, getting those rocks out first would be good. Try your rake. My landscape rake works great for that.

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Not adjustable that I can tell. I definitely could add some weight. I actually do not have a regular rake, I have a debris rake. I was thinking about trying to plow it. I found one for $150. One gentleman suggested the box blade. It might too wet for anything pretty soon🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks for stopping by!🍺🚜🇺🇸

    Hi Mike! Great to see the new attachments working! 🤩 Looks good so far! The disc will work better if you drive faster 🚜 But the big rocks are a problem for the disc. I would remove them first.
    If you plan to create a vegetable garden or a field in this area, it would be better to plow it first. Have fun! ☺️🍻🍀🚜

      🚜👍 Hi Christian! I am starting to figure out that I should plow first. I found an old one for $150, so maybe that will do the trick! Take care!!!🍺💪😎

    Water follows the furrows and will create ruts. I suggest going across the slope as much as possible.
    Discing is probably your best option to find the stones. Then the loader to move them.
    Have fun.

    Use a 2 bottom plow to kick up the rocks. The disks won't do much about them. I used a big ripper before I plowed made it easier. Lots of guys disk after rototilling or after plowing. I don't think the disk is going to get your virgin land cleared.

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      👍😊Hi Raul, thanks for the feedback. I bought an antique bottom plow, I am waiting for the ground to dry out a bit. I am looking forward to plowing it up, it will be my first time 😂🚜🇺🇸🍺

  • @meadsoutdooradventures
    @meadsoutdooradventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If it were me I would use a landscape rake, back blade, or box blade to move the rocks out of the area. The disc will just run them over and not help the situation.

    I have seen farmers drop TP strips on the rock areas as they drive... discs will roll over the top, but spring loaded tines may pick some stones out. then again, may be too big and break the sheer bolts... I really like watching your videos

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      👍 Hi Sparkee! Thanks for the feedback! Getting those rocks to pop out would definitely be a plus! We will keep after it and figure it out. I appreciate you checking out the video and commenting, it means a lot!🍺🚜🇺🇸

    I think discing this time of year would equal mud! Also, your disc isn't digging in enough. go get those rocks out of your field. Did you get a rake? that'll help you find those rocks! Lookin good brother!

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      💪👍 Hi Tracy! Yes, the disc definitely needs more weight. I do not have a landscape rake, but I like that idea. Yes, it is getting pretty wet up there now! Thanks for stopping by buddy!🍺🚜🇺🇸

  • @TKCL
    @TKCL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Going to be extremely difficult to get a light set of discs to work that ground with all that vegetation. Sadly your in a predicament, you need to mow and get the grass/weeds gone.... But I understand you can't because those rocks would destroy your mower. Also faster speed will work the disc harder too and tear the soil up more.

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      💪👍 Hi buddy! Thanks Good advice. I’m thinking about a couple options. Box blade rippers or maybe plowing. Trial and error! Your place is looking awesome BTW!🍺🚜🇺🇸

  • @kipcudd7253
    @kipcudd7253 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had a discussion just like that, had to add some weight on it as the ground around me was hard to disc. Maybe a chisel or rippers would work better to break the sod up plus going slow with rippers might loosen the rocks up and a root rake possibly, 2 bottom plow?

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      👍 Hi Kip! Good thoughts! That’s what I was thinking. Maybe the rippers on the box blade. I also found a two down plow on Marketplace for $150. I’m going to give that a try too. Thanks buddy 🍺🚜🇺🇸

    Disc and tiller will be destroyed. I think it will be best to rent a dozer to uproot and collect all the rocks. Or as I do, push/pull the rocks around with landscape box until I can pick them up with the FEL....move to a central collection point....repeat until all done. Sorry, but best I can come up with tonight. 🤔🙄😬🥴👍
