Forget about it being straight that driveway is a disaster. Beyond repairable. You shouldn't be ok with anything about this driveway. Hire a lawyer. They devalued your property.
I pave for a living. I would blame both the company and the plant who made the asphalt but definitely more so the company that paved your driveway. It’s a thin coat, was rolled when it was cold and the base was probably poor seeing as there are stress cracks. I would not pay for that
This has to be the most horrible asphalt driveway install i've ever seen. The edges are terrible and seams are so obvious that it makes it so ugly. The crew that did this job took ZERO pride in their work and i would NEVER pay someone for this job. If i had to take them to court i would for sure.
Thank god I didn’t pay him a dime. We just used it as a base and put a nice top coat on it. Some had to be ripped out though. Just met my new neighbors that just built their home and his driveway looked horrible. Same co messed up his driveway but he had paid him 100%. Totally terrible what this co is going about doing in the Scranton Pa area. Here’s the company info online dcontrol.com/profile/sealmasters-paving-excavating-llc They are going by seal masters and cats paving. Seems they are changing company names often. www.buildzoom.com/contractor/cats-paving-excavating-llc
What a mess... in my area there is an ongoing scam, guy shows up and tells the homeowner "we are working nearby and we have extra asphalt, would you like us to pave your driveway?" Anyone that agees gets workmanship like this, cold, lumpy, thin and seams. Guy showed up at my place last year and gave me his spiel. I said "Really? You have enough *EXTRA* ashpalt to pave a 500' long driveway? Get the F out of here!"
Can you provide an update on what happened with the company? Did they re do the job to satisfaction? did you end up having to take them to court? or did you refuse to pay in full after? I have been in contact with multiple paving companies in Ontario Canada, and have been quoted 20K for a driveway which looks to be half the size of yours. I would be raging hard if I came home to that.
Looks like SH*T, I would have them rip the whole thing out and redo it!! Completely unacceptable, I would have refused final payment if that is what I got!! I paid 15k to have my driveway done, and it looks top notch, they even came out a couple years later for seal coating. Asphalt is a great driveway option, half the cost of a concrete job, and is fully recyclable option. Keep it clean of debris and seal coat every 4 years. As long as the contractor takes pride in the foundation with proper compaction, and puts down the asphalt the correct way; the driveway can last many many years.
I just had a much smaller driveway done and it was expensive..can’t imagine what that cost to do it correctly..in my opinion that needs to be removed and replaced..should at least have been done all at the same time..horrible work.
Looks like they amended some pretty decent asphalt with some old recycle. Wondering if it was real wet when they did the job. They obviously don't know how to rake or finish for sure. Looks like they used a couple 2 by 4 and a screadboard
It looks like that was just the first layer put down and they’re going to come back and do the second layer… typically they don’t just do one lift on a driveway
That is a horrrible job and I would expect them to fix it. It also looks like the amount of asphalt used was very minimal. I would expect proper edging and everything even.
Don't know enough about asphalt but looks to me there is barely enough on there think it should be thicker than that. Plus needing a whole lot heavier roller. Good Luck!
Top seal will not solve all the problems i see.First of all draw a line of curves and cut them out so it looks at least decent, then cut out with circular concrete saw all the holes and places where it is already rumbling and pour in new asphalt and seal edges with thick bitumen so water does not enter joints (ofc compact when patch holes) and on top of bitumen edging throw some quartz sand to prevent stycky effect, also with extra asphalt fill in after preparing missing spots that are not covered, dig out on both sides of asphalt grass 2 feet wide and 4-5 inches deep and put in compacting gravel mixture and go over it with compactor in a way to allow water to go on grass-that will keep your asphalt edges from rumbling and cracking in future and give more support to shoulders...maybe-just maybe after that top coating would give something to how it all looks but unfortunatelly wont help with bumps.Other solution is to force contractor to remove it all under threat of court subpoena or force him to make new minimum 2 inch of smoother asphalt mixture over that one-ofc after prepairing and fixing holes, curves and missing parts.
From your description, you researched the company AFTER the job? As crappy as it is, if you don't pay them, they can still lien your property in most states.
Yeah, look at the driveway, that wouldn’t hold up in court. They need to redo or repair. But this is why I always hire local who have a brick and mortar location in town, been there for many years and have a rep. This way if something isn’t right, you go down there directly and work it out face to face. Fly by night is just that.
you really need to learn how to write. it took me about 5 minutes to understand what u were trying to say. you should have written : (ive never seen a job like that. it looks like it was done by a couple 15 year old kids......) see how that makes more sense than the soup of a sentence u wrote?
I am 4th generation Paving professional. They absolutely have no idea what they was doing. It's called you got footed. Meaning they charge you top dollar and lay as thin as possible to save on material cost. Sobsorry this happened, please do homework before hiring
He definitely didn’t get footed obviously whoever did the driveway did a terrible job of course 100% but I guarantee you the guy who hired him who made this video is probably some kind of contractor probably beat. The guy up on the price didn’t want to spend the money to do the right job and I know for a fact he never paid the guy so he got a free driveway. He probably wanted all kind of extra work done for free. I’m not a gambling man but Im right on point
I used a paver was in business for many years, he would grind up used blacktop and use that as a base to cut costs. He was/is very good at leveling and his finished product came out really nice. However I question the durability that he doesn't use the traditional packed in stone as a base. Driveway is nearly 10 years old some cracking that I have filled over the years and I sealcoat it every year or 2 with the Home Depot "10 year" Latex-ite made by Dalton. It still looks good but I work hard to maintain where friends who didn't do much or anything over the years to maintain it have driveways that look nearly as good. That being said, looks like this guy did a budget job with cheap materials, would definitely have him repave the top properly, not sure how this ended see this was posted a while ago. Hope he did the right thing.
@@ParaPropMngr maybe,,if i could vibrate the heck out of it so it crushes down enough to be a base course,,,otherwise i would remove the ssphalt and see whats underneath before I pave,,,asphalt is only as good as the base under it...either way if i was still in the paving biz i would give those poor people a heck of a deal to fix it,,they already were screwed once
This is what happens when theres a random knock at your front door by an 'asphalt company' that just so happens to be "working in your neighborhood" and also just so happens to have a few yards of left-over asphalt. Yea, right!
That is completely poor work and product. Seriously hire a lawyer to legally document everything and don't pay. If they try to lien your property report them to the Contractors License Board in your State. This is worth losing their license over. Better yet, call other Asphalt contractors to come look at it and give you a quote to replace or fix it. Watch how quickly they call this company out.
Wow, I would be absolutely LIVID if I came home and saw this, even if it was done for free. Would've been cheaper and looked 100% better to just use 3/8"-1/2" gray crusher run which compacts
don't need an expert to say you got cheated and paver made a fortune some spots looks like not even 1 inch of coverage and it defiantly was not hot. quick get a estimate from a different paver to estimative if it can take a 2nd coat or if it needs to be dug up new stone laid then new asphalt . and get ready to sue as well as who silences them
Whoever did this driveway did it wrong they didn't dig up the old driveway, they didn't use a hot base or hot blacktop to pave the driveway they used cold blacktop to pave the driveway.
I am in search for a company to put a driveway in my property. This is horrifying to see. This looks like a piss pore DIY attempt from someone who works in an office, or even an elementary school project. Sorry Boss, I would have a meltdown if that was my property.
My normal contractor I use was not available but he’s coming to rip it out and do it right. He’s done work for me in past and looks fantastic and super professional. If you need a referral IM me.
I can see its a bad job done but even that bad driveway is better than a hard gravel rocks I'd like it and use a bunch of crack filler and seal it if it was mine but our driveway is small so is why i wouldn't care much it all the gravel rocks get kicked in the yard and scooted out so that still being as bad as it is and looks is fixable because most of its done
No it needs more than sealer needs crack filler atleast and then seal is what i would do if it was mine i still would be happy with that its better than this hard gravel rock driveway i have
Judging from what a neighbor paid for similar sized driveway, that looks like a $25-30K driveway. Looks like a POS job however. Glad mine is concrete, still in very good shape after 45 yrs and has a 24% grade in the middle.
I hope you didn't pay them because that's the worst job I have ever seen and I been paving for 35 years it's thin and they rolled it late mix got cold and they must of did it by hand edges are terrible I feel sorry for you because you got scammed and if you paid you got screwed
Do not pay for this at all, terrible worksmanship no pride in the work. Looks like the asphalt was cold before even arriving mix is terrible, any decent contractor would not lay that mix.
Forget about it being straight that driveway is a disaster. Beyond repairable. You shouldn't be ok with anything about this driveway. Hire a lawyer. They devalued your property.
This is what happens when you go with the cheaper quote😂
Gupos
I pave for a living. I would blame both the company and the plant who made the asphalt but definitely more so the company that paved your driveway. It’s a thin coat, was rolled when it was cold and the base was probably poor seeing as there are stress cracks. I would not pay for that
Base dawg......at that..... 🎉🎉🎉
I Roll asphalt for a living it was cold when laid. And the lines are due to them not grading the driveway before asphalt went down

exactly. ive had them come to my place too. if you cant figure out how much you need and have that much extra you dont know what you are doing.
Professional scammers.
I would not pay for such horrible work either!! That company should be ashamed of doing such poor quality work!!!
Can you provide an update on what happened with the company? Did they re do the job to satisfaction? did you end up having to take them to court? or did you refuse to pay in full after? It looks like your entire driveway was done with 50lb bags of Quikrete Asphalt Repair Patch
I think you would have had a better jod if you hired the guys from in front of Home Depot.
It looks like that was just the first layer put down and they’re going to come back and do the second layer… typically they don’t just do one lift on a driveway
Yeah right !
How much is something like that cost in your area ?
That is a horrrible job and I would expect them to fix it. It also looks like the amount of asphalt used was very minimal. I would expect proper edging and everything even.

Just curious, how much did you pay for the driveway? Sometimes you get what you pay for. I agree though thats a very shoddy job
Did they have Irish accents ?

Who paved it Freddy flinestone
It looks like they rushed which is not a good thing, hope you can get your driveway fixed.
It looks like he was conned

never seen a job like that its like 2 -15yr olds did it and used go karts to compact it ! looks like a $500 job to me

Contact the state's contractor's board and file a complaint. Much quicker and easier than going to court. Have his bond pay for repaving.
Looks like the road in front of my property that VDOT paved.

Nice base to put a nice asphalt driveway on top of ! Looks like some Rodney hampton work to me
the asphalt was cold and very thin,,,,disgusting
Exactly I put a top coat on it.

So bad job sorry brother how did you handle this problem ?
Wow! Definitely not a professional outcome
That was a after party 🎉 drive way wait till a big rain storm u gonna have huge pond issues bro 🤦🏽♂️😂😂
Makes for a good base to just pave 2 inches or less over an it would look great

They didn't put tac down. And they rolled it when it was cold and not hot . The edges are nasty should of used headboard
Wow I’m so sorry that company has to come back and fix
umm they wont
Its better than a hard gravel rock driveway and easy to fix
Rubbish
This is why I’ll be using a respectable company. Looks like a crew of crack heads done that..
When you order an asphalt driveway off wish
Or Temu
That’s so bad. Sorry that happened to you man.
Wow, I would be absolutely LIVID if I came home and saw this, even if it was done for free. Would've been cheaper and looked 100% better to just use 3/8"-1/2" gray crusher run which compacts
Happy I don't have these problems
"It's hard to see in the video.."
Nah, it's pretty clear lol
not a dime, in fact HE owes you money!
Good god! I’d be livid. That’s the absolute worst hack job I’ve seen. I feel bad for you. Wow.
What that is imho is Cold blacktop. But i could be wrong. Piss poor job thats for dam sure. Sorry
probably Went with cheapest bid
Just WHY did you even contemplate this
Why did you let them continue after the first day?? Thats one of the worst jobs ive seen!!
Hard to belive what they did !!!
I would sue the hell out of them
Need go over that
OMG which amateurs did this job. OMG its bad!
I would never pay for this ever!
They need to come back and completely redo the entire driveway.
don't need an expert to say you got cheated and paver made a fortune some spots looks like not even 1 inch of coverage and it defiantly was not hot. quick get a estimate from a different paver to estimative if it can take a 2nd coat or if it needs to be dug up new stone laid then new asphalt . and get ready to sue as well as who silences them
No, you aren't wrong. You got hosed.
you should of stopped them about 3 meters from the garage
I like the how much a month for the rent if you do allow animals
Make them come back and take their asphalt and leave, no payment today boys.
This made me sad
Look how big those rucks are lol bet it doesn’t look like that the next day 😂
Idk man going by the craftsmanship I bet those workers breath was smelling like whisky
don't blame the whisky. blame the p...layer 😄
Whoever did this driveway did it wrong they didn't dig up the old driveway, they didn't use a hot base or hot blacktop to pave the driveway they used cold blacktop to pave the driveway.
Take a saw to line up the edges to make it look sharp torch the high spots even out and compact fill in low spots and seal coat it 👍
Do not pay them.
Damn that does look horrible.

Half inch of hot sand mix over it and it will look like a million bucks.
If this was my place and i was making this video youtube would immediately remove it for obscene language. That's F'd up.

I would make them come dig it up because I doubt they put good base in. Now no room to build up around buildings. Worst job in history
Get your money back ASAP
That's a DISASTER!!!...
That's embarrassing!!
Yea that's a bad job I wouldn't not pay for that I been in the game for over 10 years it's a lot wrong with his team of works
