Jimin was a perfect intelligent hardworking student in school he recently received his award his diploma his father accepted it on his behalf cause Jimin is relaxing at home taking it easy u know when being discharged from hospital he was there for his surgery and was tested positive for COVID but he's thankfully ok now check it all out on weverse Jimin's posts and bighit announcements.

♦️Jimin wrote the lyrics not only by himself, but was the only one to send his very first draft to the producers, and it was approved, so no need for a rewrite! The lie is the lie he keeps telling himself. Always in the past aiming for perfection and by doing so always questioning and second guessing himself! Although deep inside he knows better! The other lie is telling himself as well as everyone else that everything is alright when it's not!! Jimin has grown and changed, along with the other members since then. All learning to love themselves for who & what they are flaws and all! Jimin is now able to, as his song 'PROMISE' says, shine the light on himself, as well, speaking up more when things bother him and allowing himself to laugh off whenever he makes any kind of mistake, knowing now he can always perfect or improve on whatever is lacking next time!!
I always thought of it this way: this is a time where Jimin was into dangerous eating habits (among other things because of internet haters telling he's too fat). The lie is what the mirror tells him, that he's still not slim enough. He needs to be saved from his body dysmorphia to return to a point where he was happy. I understand some remarks by Tae (in Bon Voyage and others) that he's sad Jimin got to this state of mind and that he couldn't help him more.
@My bias is OT7 - Careful, your true colors are showing. It's always the ones that insist they're ot7 that are indeed solo stans of certain members spreading false unfounded, especially when concerning JIMIN, (for whatever reason), unproven rumors that are based on untruths. Stop playing the JIMIN victim card. All members have gone on diets, as well as all idols at various times, but in Jimin's case, he was already proud of his body before he even signed with BigHit when he was performing in an Afterschool Busan Highschool of the Arts performance where he was so. Comfortable and proud of his body had no problem taking off his shirt and showing off his abs while performing TVXQ Mirotic. JIMIN has always had a strong muscular body, which is why he has such stamina & endurance on stage while still being able to hit those highnotes. Certain factions of anti JIMIN haters have even gone so far as purposely misinterpreted translation if article where he said he had 1 meal a day for 10 days, to 1 meal in 10 days,.,lol!! Even JIMIN said he'd never try anything as foolish as this unhealthy diet again. This was when he was successfully achieving that amazing jawline for the Wings comeback. But even reactors watching all performances can't help question statements like yours since JIMIN always has looked fit and quite muscular especially his thighs and abs.also ppl are being now being made aware of others spreading false unsubstantiated untruths such as what you're doing. Please do be more careful of what you say for your own sake.

I stated clearly that those are my own thoughts, not facts. I'm not sure what you think my true colors are. I think of myself as OT7 with a Jimin bias. I don't question Jimin's physique as very appealing. All members have been on diets, and I PERSONALLY don't think Kpop diets are ideal for people. I PERSONALLY don't think it's ideal for a minor to show his abs in every performance. I PERSONALLY think at some times there was a lot of pressure on him (and other members) to look a certain way. I just wish and all the members to be happy and healthy. I'm probably not the person you have to go up against. Maybe save your anger for a more worthy target?
@@mybiasisot7779 I thought your comment was perfectly fine. There's always going to be "armys" that will manipulate what a person is saying to victimize and/or make something fit their narrative. It's obvious you were stating your thoughts (not facts) about the interpretation on a song....not the entire situation of the extreme diet he was doing. They've all in some form expressed the struggles on these topics they went through. Thankfully, Jimin specifically, has said he's happy with the person he is now and knows that the dieting wasn't healthy and won't do something that extreme anymore and the "perfectionist" side of him that would get VERY disheartened if he made the smallest mistake has learned those things aren’t worth the stress. I will say the biggest confusion of that situation is armys (mostly newer armys) said he had a EATING DISORDER when it wasn't that at all; literally just a horribly extreme diet regiment and I wished this would be cleared up. Either way I try not to continue spreading this story around anymore because its causes a lot of preconceived notions about Jimin (and similarly the other members) that are no longer true or honestly not even relevant. Hope that makes sense :)
@@mybiasisot7779 Unfortunately, because of saying these types of thoughts, they cause false narratives and speculations to be misinterpreted about idols, especially Jimin, even if a new Army read you, they would also believe it before thinking and writing, you should investigate for that is true you have to be very careful especially not to ruin the image of your artist Jimin is a strong man even this covid situation plus his surgery and the way he recovered so quickly speaks of his good health even in the last concert showed how strong and muscular he is and still is and I am proud of this.
An interesting little fun fact about the composition of the song is that in the chorus the key change is a "lie" 😊 a fun little alignment of the music, lyrics and choreo. Jimin wrote all of Lie by himself and has co-composer and producer credits as well on this song. Jimin also worked extremely hard on the dancing and made his own changes to make it fit the song perfectly. Namjoon spoke on vlive about how impressed he was and how Jimin was the first one to complete his solo and how hard he worked. Lie is considered a legendary song in the Kpop industry. It's one of the most covered songs by any idol ever and Kpop companies even make their trainees learn the song for their evaluations.

❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!!
JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. Jimin tends to take in the music and interprets all the emotion & feelings, whatever it's trying to convey through his body movements as well as his vocals.
JIMIN has now won the prestigious titles for 3 yrs in a row, for both KING OF KPOP, as well as also winning BEST TOP #1 DANCER IN KPOP, also 3 yrs in a row!! All the solos on Wings are introspective/ about the self. The Lie jimin is talking about are the lies his mind keeps telling himself about not being "good enough". Jimin is a perfectionist and often used to be much too hard on himself over really tiny mistakes. According to the rest of BTS, he's the hardest worker among them and pushes himself to extremes to give the fans the best performance possible every single time. Lie is about how those negative thoughts in your head can make you feel like you're in hell even when externally it looks like you have no reason to not be happy. Jimin said Promise was kind of an anti-thesis to Lie :) he's grown to love and appreciate himself a lot more and Promise is about teaching yourself to be your own light and being kind to yourself.

2:53 This choreography is basically one of the most covered solo song by kpop rookies, and it's amazing considering it's just a bside with no MV while other songs being covered by rookies are title tracks. Rookies basically study Jimin's fancams. More than 5 years after Lie was released and it's still being covered to this day. And that's Jimin with his first solo song with choreo. (Serendipity is also one of rookie staples). No one came close in portraying this choreography the way Jimin does tho to be fair some did pretty good job.
The funny thing is very few do the actual choreo WHILE SINGING like Jimin does, lmao. The few who did mostly served as cautionary tale 😭

The Lie is probably referring to himself. Through all the negativity he had gone through: thinking he wasn't good enough...the eating disorder...trying to lose the weight...and through all of this he just put up a facade of being happy and jovial around his members ...army and front of the camera. That's the Lie he was caught in...but I'm glad he overcame the many obstacles he faced. Jimin fought a tough battle of finding himself and being who he is right now. He changed himself to what he was comfortable with ...a happier him...loving himself and a Promise to never wallow away or bury himself in negative aspects of life. Well done Jimin...you realise what's wrong ...find the problem and resolve it yourself. You are a mentor for us going through the ups and downs of life. It’s okay to distinguish Jimin’s dancing ability. He has been studying dance since middle school. He better have a little special oomph in his moves. Jimin’s controlled pop is his signature move. Hobi was a street dancer, it’s okay to look and be in awe of his bugaloo, dance talent.

You guys are correct about Jimin feeling as if he's been telling a lie and has to keep it up. Part of it is him being so hard on himself and being a perfectionist, but it's also the "lie" that he's telling ARMY. The performer on stage and the man behind that performer are two different people. ARMY saw him as someone that he couldn't see himself as. Strong, sexy, talented as both a singer and a dancer. He felt that he had to live up to that image, but that wasn't who he was off-stage. RM has said that Jimin is shy and too embarrassed to act the same way off stage as he does on stage. Jimin has since learned to accept himself both as he is and as ARMY sees him. That was the point of Filter. Rather than being trapped as someone he's not, his stage persona is like a filter, overlaid on his true self. Before, he felt like he was living a lie but now, he says that he can be whoever ARMY wants him to be if we will just let him know what that is. Jimin actually thanked ARMY during a live because of all of the comments he got from ARMY, telling him that we didn't want him to make himself fit a particular mold. We just wanted him to be himself, or whoever HE wanted to be. His song Promise was part of the journey from Lie to Filter.

Jimin said in an interview that he wanted the concept of his song 'Filter' to be to present himself to the world in many different ways! Jimin also said that it's about perspective & prejudices as well!! Aside from saying in the song that I can be anything you (army) want me to be for you, I believe that Jimin is also trying to tell so many army that keep saying things like he's insecure, weak, or helpless, and needs protecting, or just cute or sexy, or just any one thing, whatever army indeed wants to think he is, isn't the real him! That he wears whatever 'filter' that army wants him to be, but indeed in reality is so not him!! That's why army are continually surprised when they see a glimmer of the real Jimin, the way more self assured, demonstrative, take charge, confident, charismatic, alluring, at times sexy, person that kills on stage! So this (pure genius) song, that in actuality the CEO 'Hit man Bang' Mr. Bang Si Hyuk, wha actually j volley in writing the ever so genius lyrics, that Jimin had a hand in as well. The songs lyrics have more then one meaning!! So Jimin has pretty much been doing this since the beginning, playing the role of whatever army seems to prefer for him, but in actuality, hardly anyone knows the real Jimin! So much more then what many army believe him to be. Plus since Jimin never talks much about all his amazing last acheive at abilities and accomplishments, even before ever joint BTS, many army are still unaware of so much.
@@abbiea1237 the best way to get a glimpse of the real Jimin is to look at his predebut background and achievements. To me it shows an increadibly intelligent, focused, ambitious and hardworking child / teenager who discovered his talent and passion early in life and with meticulous planning, went for it with all guns blazing.

LIE was the very first performance I saw. Jimin's talent brought me to BTS and I will forever be grateful. I was recovering from COVID and TH-cam pushed his live performance to me.....I love to watch dance videos. Can't dance worth a sh*t, but so appreciate those who can. (JEALOUSY overload). But, because of Jimin's dance and vocals, I had to know who he was and BAM....down the BTS rabbit hole I went. So happy about it. I am so glad you watched a straight up performance and not a stage mix of this song. Don't get me wrong, those who put them up do a good job, but sometimes the continuity is lost to me, which can be frustrating. [I'm too busy thinking about the costume changes, the hair color changes during the performance(s). ] Loved the video!
Lie is such a masterpiece and the live performance is just amazing and insane. The combination of such fantastic musicality, choreography and his sexiness is just incredible. Would love to see him perform it again now to see how he would interpret it.
This song is about telling yourself lies about yourself such as you are not good enough, smart enough, or pretty enough, etc. He is saying if you knew the real me, you won't love or accept me as I am so I hide the real me from you.

I think Ziah is right on that sin is a big theme in this song...the blindfold conveys being blinded by desire and falling into temptation. That cld mean falling into crime, addiction or giving in to one's dark side. Then one starts lying to oneself & others to keep up a facade that's like a house of cards (to reference another song of theirs). At least that's my guess, as this is from the Wings era which touches on the loss of innocence. Shizi's point tt it cld relate to lying in a relationship makes a lot of sense too.

One thing about BTS, is they never waste a moment - they perform even rehearse with their entire being full of passion. Expressions, movements, voices all exude the message. Even the little hand movements. They sell it, man! That's why I love them and knowing the backstories and hearing them express themselves at a concert... each one speaks is powerful and that's why they are the best. When they do their individual songs they always watch each other on a screen backstage cheering each other on. Never gets old to me, we should always cheer for each other and be glad for them. (I listened to your cover of Not Today... a while ago. This past week that song keeps going through my head whenever I think about the Ukraine and Putin invasion... Putin- no, no, not today!)

The song itself is about not lieing to yourself and be true to you.
The blindfold coming off can symbolize many things, for me, it's finally seeing the true you and taking off the blindfold is also accepting that.
There is also from blood sweat and tears you see the blindfolds as well. There are a couple theorys, one is that if you don't see the sin then can you be affected by the sin? Another has to do with a theory of the BU, that certain members were in this alternate evil universe and they gave in to temptations, and the ones blindfolded or their eyes closed hasn't yet fallen until Jin does.
......yeah it's convoluted. I prefer my 1st Theory for the song though.
With praising Jimin, dammit, praise him all you want because on the other members solos, you'll praise them all you want. Don't give into the few toxic assholes.
Jhope, V and Jk have all said that they learned performance and charm by watching Jimin and learning from him. He can bring any emotion or character he wants to the stage just for the sole purpose of giving us entertainment. He is a masterful dancer and stage performer. I love you guys 🤣💜 This is an iconic performance from Jimin, the emotions just flow from his choreo. I love how ambiguous BTS are with lyrics, especially considering Jimin wrote this himself. You can basically put yourself into any of their songs, I've felt that or I thought that way. It's a true gift that they can do it time and time again.
For me , I am similar to Jimin (both Libras) in that I try to be perfect, and berate myself when I'm not. I am my own worst critic and judge myself far more than I would anyone else. It's partly the fault of the people who raised me, you hear a lie enough times you believe it. Even if it's yourself telling you.
