Every single one of Jimin's solo songs are top tier but Lie has got to be one of his best. The raw emotion behind the song and the performance makes it as good as it is. The vocals, the visuals, the performance, the lyrics...all of it makes it so amazing

Absolutely! This song fits his unique, delicate but powerful vocals to a T. This song performed by anyone else just would not hit the same. And paired with his incredibly magnetic dancing and stage presence? It's perfect. This song just so perfectly encapsulates what makes Jimin such a brilliant performer.

Lie is a timeless masterpiece and Jimin's first solo song. It showcases his talent as a lyricist and an artist. The lyrics, Jimin's vocal delivery, the legendary live performance. The impact it had on the industry is undeniable; it has been covered countless times by trainees/idols, and is even used by trainees as an audition song when they try to get signed by companies. In the words of korean fans - "he brought the classical modern dance/style into kpop" Jimin has set the bar so high, and keeps proving how he's the standard!

People say Lie by Jimin is a song ahead of its time, and I agree. This song needs to be known worldwide because it's just SO GOOD. Just the first seconds already give me chills. The whole song is just skkskskckkwkwks it's kinda haunting but relaxing at the same time, I dunno if I'm making sense tbh
❤️Jimin wrote the lyrics not only by himself, but was the only one to send his very first draft to the producers, and it was approved, so no need for a rewrite! The lie is the lie he kept telling himself. Always in the past aiming for perfection and by doing so always questioning and second guessing himself! Although deep inside he knows better! The other lie is telling himself, as well as everyone else that everything is alright when it's not!! Jimin has grown and changed, along with the other members since then. All learning to love themselves for who & what they are flaws and all! Jimin is now able to, as his song Promise says, shine the light on himself, as well, speaking up more when things bother him and allowing himself to laugh off whenever he makes any kind of mistake, knowing now he can always perfect or improve on what ever needs to be corrected next time!!

This song is a true masterpiece. The music itself is written as a "lie ". Mixed with vocals and then dance. Whew 1 of my absolute favorites of the boys.
“Lie” is hands down my favorite Jimin solo song. The musicality, the vocal performance, the production, the choreography, the incorporation of classical instruments. It’s all top tier.
And DONT get me started on how they used the production of the song, it’s key and so forth, to audibly create a literal lie to our ears (via the sudden switch to major key from minor key in the chorus). I could go on abt that all day.

This is probably my favorite song ever. It’s like a perfectionist’s anthem. Jimin wrote most of the lyrics, saying it was from personal experience. The concept of imposter syndrome, constantly telling yourself “it’s not good enough, it could be better” (something he clearly still struggles with). The key changes when he sings out “lie” hits with such emotion. And the dance, is just…cherry on top. What isn’t there to love about it? The unique message, the dance, his vocals, the musical arrangement, everything! I resonate with it all!
Edit: This song came off of their Wings album, which was themed around the struggles of growing up and accepting the evils of the world. So almost every song has a connection in the concept of being enticed with individual greed, regret, and/or acceptance. The original album only had one single (Blood, Sweat, and Tears), but the hype around it was huge. Caught my attention getting out of high school… :3
No he didn't write any of the lyrics. He said he talked to the producers, explained his feelings and what he wanted to portray, and they made the song.

" so it seems like he doesn't really know how the song was made, he said he didn't even know jimin wrote it'. @@priiifrg Jimin will always downplay what he's involved in. No one knew he did the melody for Blood Sweat and Tears until an interview for one of their festas. Like being the project manager for BE....I've been a project manager and it's a lot of work, but he downplayed every time and put the spotlight on the other members achievements. The best place to know what Jimin has done behind the scenes is from the other members or staff.

Jimin's performances are often very artistic, like this one, because he did contemporary dance before joining BTS and his voice isn't something you usually hear in a male singer. I feel like he adds a very unique flavor to the group.

He's the one telling himself the lie (that he's not good enough, needs to work more, needs to look a certain way...), so he's both the one lying and the one caught in the lie. Jimin is a perfectionnist and has suffered a lot from it in the past, he is kinder to himself now which makes me so happy. That song is a masterpiece, the classical music, the lyrics, the change from minor to major chord, the edge in his voice, the choreo... No wonder Jimin is considered the best dancer and performer in kpop.

This song is closely related to the BTS storyline in their MVs. Jimin’s character in the storyline was in the hospital and tells a lie for the first time and says that he doesn’t remember anything. If you want to check out the storyline I would recommend it highly. It is a very fascinating story but it’s a bit hard to understand sometimes.
Yo, I kid you not, I wanted to learn their names just so I could understand the storyline. I mean, the story is so interesting when you figure out key details. And, well, we all know what happens when we learn their names… ;P
Not quiet right. It fits the line but it isn't about it:
The Solo songs on Wings (?) were personal. Jimin's mind tells him lies: when something doesn't work and he makes mistakes (and possible when someone critizises him) than his mind beginns to spiral and tell him how he has to work harder, be perfect and that he is bad/not good enough. The perfectioism is not healthy and he struggeled with it.
That stuggel is btw in "The Rise of Bangtan"-documentary. It is really cool! Borahae! 💜
this song is such master piece, Jimin's voice is an art itself. i got goosebumps every time listen to this song. so majestic.
For context: this song (cowritten by Jimin) is from an era where Jimin tried to be "sexy" (which in kpop means thin) and had gotten internet hate for bring "fat" because of his soft checks. His dieting became harmful to the point where he would collapse from exhaustion and malnourishment. To me the "Lie" is his mirror telling him he's still not slim enough (body dysmorphia). I'm not the only Army alarmed whenever he loses weight.

This song is a musical peace of art. Magnificent classical sound, deep lyrics, and amazingly expressive vocals. Jimin had full participation in the writing and composition of this masterpiece. Each solo in the Wings album is related to the BU (bangtan Universe) aka the fictional storyline witch run threw MV and albums since "I need you", specially the short films. So the lyrics of Lie fits to the fictional character played by Jimin but it's also related to Jimin himself, the struggles he faced, and we can feel the authentic emotions and pain. The Wings album revolves around the concept of Hermann Hesse’s novel, ‘Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair’s Youth’, a coming of age piece that uses myths and references to follow the journey of a young boy to self-realization.
One of the key points of this book is the importance of accepting the “dualism”, the idea of two opposing forces (maybe good and bad or truth vs fake) that are both necessary in life. This idea is portrayed by Jimin’s solo where we see an inner fight between his two sides, his true and insecure self, and this mask that he created to face the world but is swallowing him up (as in the verse : the prey vs the snake) . It’s a complex song where metaphors, vocal and music composition details mix to vignette a cry for help. This song is a portrait of what struggling with your identity, insecurities and inner demons is. RM explained that Jimin used to blame himself for all the failures and shortcomings, having thoughts like “I’m not good enough, I can’t do this” and that he wrote the song reflecting that mentality. Knowing this reflective way of working to deliver an honest history is why this song is so important for so many ARMY. The choreography and interpretation is incredible too .Lie has been popular all through the years, being the most streamed solo song from the WINGS album. Now Lie by Jimin being refered to as a rite of passage for rookie idols, they cover LIE as a show of their vocal and dance capabilities, as the song is considered to be highly technical in both aspects.

At one point Jimin talked about the original image that Big Hit had for him. If you remember, there was a performance where he ripped off a hoodie and undershirt, stamping his feet and ending up completely bare-chested. But Jimin never felt completely comfortable with that character/image. Lie supposedly reflects some of that -- getting caught in presenting an image that wasn't totally authentic to his real character/nature. He and BigHit worked through that and Jimin now feels that his stage persona and his real personality are much more aligned.
what makes lie even more interesting to me is that the entire song is in minor key signature except at the moment he sings 'caught in a lie' which is in major key signature. for those who don't know a minor key signature has a rather depressing sound as opposed to a major key signature which sounds much more cheerful and happy. the sudden use of the major key sounds kinda out of place and seems like it is hinting something is not quite right, and then they skilfully go back to back minor as if jimin was concealing something. that song is basically a lie.

The whole song is a minor key but when it gets to the chorus it seems to switch to a major key but IT'S STILL MINOR KEY, which coincides with the idea of it being a Lie. This was Jimin's first written song and he also helped with the composing based on RM's comments. There's so much messaging in this song it's insane. LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR REACTIONS 💜💜💜

Not many newer armies know this but Jimin suffered from body dysmorphia for a long time. The lie he’s talking about is the lie his mind keeps telling him. The lyrics are beautifully written and describe all that he went through. The modern contemporary choreography truly does justice to the song.The song and mv also fit in with the BU story line in a different context.
Jimin's way of singing, which I love the most and want to hear every time, is how this song is sung. Jimin's addictive voice, which is as sharp as screaming and soft and beautiful, is suctioned into this song, so it is my favorite Jimin's song. And Jimin's charisma and masculine charm harmonize, making him a wonderful stage genius beyond sexiness. I think it would have been much more attractive if I had sung Jimin's another solo song, Filter, in the singing style of this song. It's because the filter is too feminine. I prefer Jimin's more masculine singing style, so I hope Jimin will return with a new all-time solo song with the singing style of this song "Lie."😊
I'm a Shinee girl and all round kpop nut. Jimin's vocals are my absolute favourite of all Idols and there are some great vocals out there. He is far from technically great but just his tone is so good.

This is one of my ABSOLUTE Favourites. The first time I heard this song, I listened to it on repeat for over an hour. Lie was my most played song on my Spotify Wrapped 2021 (And I heard my first ever BTS song in June 2021, btw). Also, Jimin is not my bias, but among the vocal line solos, I think I particularly favour all of his solos. He is a FANTASTIC vocalist. Beautiful voice.
5:27 Jimin in this case tells and listen to lie in the same time. He lied to himself and believed himself that he is inferior, that he is not enough, that he is not as good as others. He had EXTREMELY low self-esteem back in a day. So this song became a catharsis for him. He understood and admitted this problem, worked on it and learned to love and accept himself as he is.

RM tells us Jimin wrote Lie. It’s about himself, talking to himself. About the insecurities, self-doubts and negative thoughts which are the lies which the lyrics say he can’t break free from, have taken his smile away and threaten to swallow him whole. When you watch him perform it, you don’t need subtitles. His dance manifests the music and message so perfectly and you can feel the pain in him.

Lie will forever be a masterpiece
This song is about Jimin's troubles. I think he wrote it. At one point of his career he felt insecure about his looks and he starved himself to loose weight. He was developing back then and still growing physically. He gets so much hate and also the other guys for stupid reasons from ignorant, mean people. I just feel for our boys. They are such kind and amazing human beings and artists and also so handsome. I wish I could protect them from all harm and the rest of Army does too.🥺💜
