Montblanc Permanent Blue is a blue fountain pen ink.
Here on the channel there is a new ink review posted daily. I get inks test them and share the results with you, so you know before you buy. We will show writing sample and discuss the writing experience on Clairfontain, Tomoe River, Rhodia and few few others after that. A Jinhao 159, x450, x750 and a pen of the day are used to get a range of experience with the ink. Two different chromatography's are discussed as well as there is a resistance test done. The inks viscosity and dry time are compared to over 1000 other inks. A complement ink is suggested. General thoughts on the ink are given. There is also a nib, pen recommendation for this ink.

When i say a blue ink needs to have something in it for me to consider buying a bottle, as i have loads of blue inks, this is what it is. Nice ink i am definitely going to consider getting a bottle of this one.

Coming back here with some info. which might be useful for folk. I have read on some fountain pen forums that this ink causes staining. One person was advised by Mont Blanc only to use it if their pen would be regularly serviced by them and never to use it in a demonstrator, or pens with show through parts. A regular user of this ink said that they use 50:50 alcohol and water to clean their pen once a month but that it was not possible to get all of the staining off the ink window.
One poster said, "I know about the Permanent Blue because it stained 2 pens in the past and Montblanc quite nicely exchanged my barrels at no cost, but did warn me to quit this ink on any 'pen of higher value' in a letter."
So it's good for pens with no show through parts. Apparently clogging is not an issue. (It's a pigment ink).
Such a shame I think the colour is great.

I have heard some of the staining people have mentioned, but haven't experienced it myself. As for the user that uses 50/50 alcohol and water, I would never use and never recommend using alcohol to clean a pen ever. The alcohol can have bad reactions with the plastic of the pen.
I will be pinning this to the top to make sure others see the warning about staining.
      Thank you!

Hi Barry, I don't know if you meant to reply under my comment. I'll give you my take anyway. In over fifty years of using fountain pens I have never needed an off the shelf cleaning kit. Additionally the syringe needle appears to have far too greater bore. Most often a needle with an orange coding is a more common size for tasks like ink filling. I like a black one for flushing in addition. I look at the price and know that for that money I could get half a dozen syringes and needles online for that money.
10% bleach is usually recommended for stained pen windows and converters and a little liquid soap in some warm water will clean out most pen feed issues. Again I have never had to use the latter, water has sufficed.
An ear flushing bulb makes a great device to flush out pen feeds, sticking in where the converter would normally go.
I hope that was helpful. Just my take. The pen world will bottle and sell anything to get another product out.

I use fountain pen to fill forms and sign stuff on very cheap hospital grade photocopy paper. Any ink I have used feathers like nobody's business. Except this permanent blue. Doesn't matter what nib size I put it in. From EF [pilot E95S] to BB [Montblanc 149], the ink lays beautifully. I only wish the permanent black behaved similarly. The black goes on like a sharpie no matter what size nib I put in.

Thanks for this review. It was on my, "I hope I.G. does this one." list.
Mont Blanc does it again, chuckles. The shade is really rather nice, but then I am struck with the fact that Noodler's True Blue has a similar shade, perhaps a little darker. It too flushes out of the pen easily. True Blue also has the overwhelming advantage that I already have a bottle. If I hadn't this would have gone on my buy now list. Thanks, another great vlog.

Anytime there is an ink you think I should look at just mention it to me in the comments. I will then put it onto my list and EVENTUALLY work to get to it. There is always more I have to seek out to keep trying different inks.

My notebooks are infrequently getting themselves left in in places where they can get wet, or soaked. Rascal notebooks! My Pelikan Tanzanite have just enough permanence, but my bottle is running empty, so the MB permanent blue could be worth a try.

A very nice review, as always. However people on FPN do complain that this ink clogs pens during long term use, even with regular flushing.

      @AnInkGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I am surprised to hear that there have been clogging issues but appreciate you sharing that.
