    On Thursday, one week after they operated the inaugural flight out of Kansas City’s brand new terminal, Southwest Airlines also became the first airline to launch new service out of the new terminal by inaugurating nonstop flights from Kansas City to Long Beach California! As always, I was there to capture the events in full 4K 60fps, so you too can enjoy the festivities and flight. Now sit back, relax, and join me on Southwest flight 1234, inaugural service from Kansas City to Long Beach! If you would like to see a more detailed view of Kansas City's new terminal, you can check out my video from last week when I took the inaugural flight out of the new terminal: th-cam.com/video/1fE6OOGfV5o/w-d-xo.html

    Long Beach Airport? Years ago when things were a lot cheaper a friend who was considering taking pilot training and I drove down there from L.A. and walked into one of the flight schools there. A friendly young woman behind the counter there chatted with us for a moment and then said "want to go up?" "Sure!" So off we went, my first flight ever in a small private aircraft. She flew us around for about 15 minutes showing us great views of the area and coastline. It was a blast...and she didn't charge us a cent!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's how they hook you! Take you on a "free flight" to give you the bug and then you'll have to come back for more haha. It sure would be fun to fly around Socal in a small plane like that. Maybe that's what I should do. Fly all over and then head to flight schools and get free flights in all 50 states or something haha.

    Thank you, thank you for showing the correct identifier for the Kansas City Airport. MCI, not KCI. 👍👍👍. 3-17-2023

    • @sla31
      @sla31  ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone who has spent many years now working in aviation and as someone with a private pilots license, I understand why people call is KCI. Just like people from Denver calling DIA instead of DEN. But... I've found over the years that calling airports something other than their actual identifier ultimate causes more confusion than anything else. People call it KCI, but then are confused when they try to use that to find flights and can't find anything. So, I'm with you. I always use airports FAA identifiers. Thanks for watching my friend!

    WOWOWOWOW!!!!! Super-Awesome views of the Colorado Rockies!!!! Be thankful you weren't on that LAX-BOS flight where that highly unruly man assaulted the flight attendant and tried to take over the plane.
    Anyhow, time for me to rest up from the jet lag - and also from the upcoming switch to DST late tonight.

    Another spectacular SoCal approach with some nice turns and what appeared to be a butter landing. Tell me, was that touchdown as smooth as it looked? And I noticed you were sitting in row 17. That is the row I go for every time I fly on a Southwest -700. That row provides the best view of both the wing and the scenery below.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. This is my go to row for most 737-700 flight on WN. As for the landing, this one wasn't nearly as smooth as it looked. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of cameras being so good these days, is that the auto stabilization often makes landings look much smoother than they really were. I have to be really careful what adjectives I use when I post landings by themself. If it was a rough or hard landing, and I know it was, but the camera makes it look much better, the video will get disliked into oblivion if I say "hard landing" and it doesn't look like it was one. This was actually a pretty windy and abrupt landing. We also did a bit of a swerve motion due to some crosswind. You can actually hear the people around me kind of gasp right after we landed. This is definitely one of those where it looks much better than it really was. That said, the pilots did a fine job considering the wind. Don't misunderstand my points as criticism of the pilots. They did a good job with the conditions presented.

      @@emreus9464 He never uses third-party to book them.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, I never use third-party websites to buy tickets. If you book airline tickets through a site like kayak or Expedia, they essentially become your travel agent. And if anything goes wrong with your ticket, you now have to deal with that site instead of the airline. Everyone should always buy their airline tickets directly from the airlines they are going to fly on. Then if there’s a problem with the ticket it is easily fixable. Airlines also sell some tickets to those third-party websites at an extremely discounted price. And those tickets, although you might be able to find a good deal every once in a while, are non-changeable, non-refundable, and non-negotiable. Basically, if you don’t show up for your flight on the specific day and time, you lose everything.
