I have never seen a game with so much talented and creative artists, the ship designs are over the top amazing, not to forget to mention space and stations and so on. You will probably hear this a lot from others, I have been playing eve for over 8 years and many of the ships are so so ugly, but I love that game a lot. However, the more I watch video's of Star Citizen, I really think this Star Citizen has a whole lot of promise and definite awards will be in its future. That is the pro's, the con's is that I am probably going to be spending way to much money on this game because the designs and options available just right now are must have items. Just imagine when it gets going. I have decided to pledge. I would have earlier but didn't find out about this until just a few days ago, from other players on Eve Online talking about it lol. The video's are breathtaking. I hope that space is vast to the point where people can actually get lost and actually explore and do scientific stuff, such as research or constructive things, build things. To get lost if they so desire to, unlike eve and other games, where other people are always up your butt in numbers. You just can't go anywhere where no man has gone before, there are already way too many people there when you get there and ready to gang you. A solo type person has no chance. I like pvp and working with other people, but I don't like the fact that you have to put up with a lot of new generation asshats in games with no morals or respect for others, that think their way is the only way and treat everyone else like they are dumb, especially new people to game. So that's just the way its going to be, with those things in mind, its important for people in games to have the option to work with a group or corporation or such or also have the option to solo if they so choose. The police in eve, called concord, are a joke, they are overrun by huge player corps that own the game now and most gates are overcamped, so a solo player does not have a chance. Some may disagree but I think there should be options for all types of players. Not everyone once constant action of dog fighting and dying, some are constructive, and that's why EVE has that amazing market with blueprints and industry for building things. Just from looking at Start Citizen the last few days, I really feel like this game is going to be, like I said, over the top. It is going to be hard for other sci-fi games to compete with this game. I plan to be there :) Thanks for sharing the video and I hope everyone has, pardon the pun, a blast!
@Samsi13 Yes. once the game goes live most certainly. Pledging now for all types of models are meant as pledges to better the development. You can enjoy the full game with the cheapest game package. The aurora indeed. This also included the solo campaign sq42 for those who backed before februari i recall. There will be a discounted price for the solo campaign if you bought a Star Citizen package after this deadline. So for about 40 dollars for the cheapest package and about 16/20? dollars for the solo campaign you needn't spent another dime. Presumably when the persistent universe alpha improves, at a certain point shipyards will be included where you can spent your ingame aUEC (alpha UEC) which you earned by doing missions, trade runs etc. As of right now you can earn aUEC in game by a couple of ways. ICC probe missions, Covalex shipping hub P.I. mission, fixing com sats and killing the ultimate badass in the server. This currency can be expended in the in game shops for better guns, armour, clothes, fuel, repair costs. every alpha update this will be wiped to test balancing etc. once the game goes live there will be UEC and everything you want to buy you can in game. Chris Roberts stated that he wants to introduce the Pay for convenience instead of pay to win. You WILL be able to buy UEC with real dollars/euros etc if you have more money than time. This will be capped by a daily amount and once your virtual bank account exceeds a certain balance you wouldnt be able to buy more uec. Also some special items can only be obtained by playing the game. so just the other way around from pay to win.
These ships are cool and all, but I hope they are working on the actual game mechanics as well. But I guess they need to keep marketing and making ships that people can buy to ensure Star Citizen doesn't run out of money. With all the promises they have made by now, this game should be the most awesome space game ever.
ninja1818 Believe it or not, when your running a developing company and developing a huge game with this kind of scope and tech involved and outsourcing other companies to do work such as Artificial Intelligence for the game, and many other factors such as paying your people, facility maintenance/upkeep/purchase, etc. $48 million isn't actually THAT much when u factor in all the costs.
Big publisher titles like that also will roll the marketing costs into the "Production budget" to pad the numbers and build hype. It's like how you can have hugely famous movies that on the books show a loss. Look up "Hollywood accounting" on Wikipedia for some of the more egregious examples. I know for sure that every damn ad I saw on TH-cam was for TitanFall the month prior and the month after release. Every. Damn. Ad. Someone has to be paying for that hype machine running full-tilt.
OOo that''s a really nice commercial. I love the way they did it from the pilots point of view, rather than from a showroom pov. And the jump graphics... oooeeee really nice. Hope I don''t blow up on my first jump lol.
Impressive approach to advertising in-game items. I wonder how many people don't realize this is in-game footage. No web lies in the multimedia from greedy publishers around here.
DesignVisStudios Well, here's what Chris Roberts (head of development) said back when the Hornet commercial was aired: "It's rendered 100 per cent in-engine in real-time at 4K resolution. We scale everything for the super high resolutions that will be the basis of tomorrow's gaming experience; our assets are designed with high polycounts instead of having details baked into their textures. That's a big part of why Nvidia and AMD have been demoing Star Citizen at 4K!" Source: www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-10-23-stunning-star-citizen-in-engine-4k-resolution-gameplay-released
Espen Moe Good quoting. I can see high polycounts and 4k res. At this early stage it's great and I don't see why people are making attempts at putting this game down. It's totally futile. Maybe they can't comprehend a team of developers settling for nothing but the very best! Hard to swallow maybe huh?! Ryan is right. A lot of people are going to think there is a big difference between this commercial and game-play. a) because this commercial looks so good b) because that is what they are used to. It comes down to a target audience which is used to false advertising. Sure the disclaimers are usually displayed "This is not actually..." but that is still a problem we're just putting up with. How many fucking years have we put up with advertising for games by publishers and developers afraid to show us exactly what experience they created for the average consumer? Too bloody long and Chris Roberts doesn't need to demand such marketing tactics from his team. They are just offering it up on a plate as it is and I'm a fat bastard because I'm feeding on it.
Sure, you can't see out your windows much, but you don't HAVE to. Srsly I love my DUR so much. It's such a great ship and it's totally the Firefly-fan ship. It's got that round aesthetic and the commercial totally vibes that. Best ship! Can't wait until the exploration is in.
The acoustic guitar reminds me of Firefly and the commercial type setting reminds me of the space race Stargate episode. It would be cool to see commercials like this in the actual game for deep immersion. Great job.

who else saw the Mother Truckers bumper sticker?
The Ford F150 of Star Citizen.
I like the car/truck commercial themes of these ships. Very fitting and creative idea.
CIG. Has to implement THOSE sound effects, omg that sfx is soooo amazing:D!
I want that Freelancer because it reminds me of the Millenium Falcon.
Can you buy ships with gamemoney? I mean, if you have the aurora but saw the epic freelancer, can you buy it in the game without real money?
Knowing the track record of the guy behind it, it WILL be the most awesome space game ever made.
ninja1818 Believe it or not, when your running a developing company and developing a huge game with this kind of scope and tech involved and outsourcing other companies to do work such as Artificial Intelligence for the game, and many other factors such as paying your people, facility maintenance/upkeep/purchase, etc. $48 million isn't actually THAT much when u factor in all the costs.
Droplifter A game artist's salary is usually around 100 grand a year. Given that there are 400 people working on it, it really isn't that much.
Droplifter MW2 also doesn't have 400 developers, and Infinity Ward isn't exactly an indie studio.
Purchased right now .... frickin Serenity wibes... best ship ever build. (ninja cutting onions) .........RIP Firefly.
I watched the awesome jump effect four times. :) Top-notch work!
OOo that''s a really nice commercial. I love the way they did it from the pilots point of view, rather than from a showroom pov. And the jump graphics... oooeeee really nice. Hope I don''t blow up on my first jump lol.
THAT JUMP
OH MY GOD
I love how this is basically a Ford commercial...
"Built for life."
Even the song reminds me of the firefly show. so happy to have this ship
Best sound design I've heard in a while. I'm impressed RSI. I hope this is a taste of what's to come.
Dat space truck commercial!
Impressive approach to advertising in-game items. I wonder how many people don't realize this is in-game footage. No web lies in the multimedia from greedy publishers around here.
I wonder how many people don't realise that in engine footage does not mean real time footage.
DesignVisStudios Well, here's what Chris Roberts (head of development) said back when the Hornet commercial was aired:
"It's rendered 100 per cent in-engine in real-time at 4K resolution. We scale everything for the super high resolutions that will be the basis of tomorrow's gaming experience; our assets are designed with high polycounts instead of having details baked into their textures. That's a big part of why Nvidia and AMD have been demoing Star Citizen at 4K!"

DesignVisStudios Have you played the alpha? Assuming your computer can run it, you get this level of graphics. It's in-game, real time.
DesignVisStudios everything in game engine is also real time.
Holy shit i just realized whos narrating this trailer, is that Lance Henriksen?!
commonly known as admiral hackett
Kal'Geelas vas Rayya nar Qwib Qwib and Bishop, from Aliens
Troop3r666 mind=blown
seb sm would've been funnier if they got Dennis Leary to do it
Sure, you can't see out your windows much, but you don't HAVE to.
Great job.
Best commercial in gaming history
This is the ship of my dreams.... if the game ever releases though.
this video is why I decided to pledge to Star Citizen in 2014...Browncoats forever!
3.0 coming soon, what happened in this vid will become a reality :D
That jump is just beautiful, hope it looks and sounds like that in the final iteration.
I have to watch this again and again because it's so awesome!
I think I just shit myself. Dat jump animation...
I came from the sexiness
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me.
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me.
Leave the men where they lay
They'll never see another day
Lost my soul, lost my dream
You can't take the sky from me.
I feel the black reaching out
I hear its song without a doubt
I still hear and I still see
That you can't take the sky from me.
Lost my love, lost my land
Lost the last place I could stand
There's no place I can be
Since I've found Serenity
Yo CIG can we have these types of QT effects?
LANCE !!!!!
Oh my god. That voice! He already read the timelines in Star Wars: The Old Republic. He is Admiral Hacket. He is Bishop. He has one of the most iconic voices in the buiseness! I can´t stop grinning. He is my idol.
I can't be 100% sure without a proper credits screen, but I'm pretty damn sure that's Lance Henriksen doing the VO work. And if it is, CR wasn't blowing smoke when he said they were hiring more and better VO actors in the future. Kudos and awesome advert.
It is Lance Henriksen.
One of their best commercials sofar.
Will be interesting if they release a commercial for the Redeemer, not that it's needed tho.
Why doesn't the warp effect look like that in game?
It's like a space Ford.
AHHHH they need to update some of these commercials. Some of the older styles had some cool stuff.
See how the game design change ? That’s amazing
