You had courage! and you did it really nice! Looks Great! Problem with cutting hair is getting it even, and this beard cut makes it easier to get it even! Good Job! Love, wendy

Hi Louise, you did an excellent job trimming your own hair!! I noticed you were struggling trying to see how the back of your hair looked where you had cut it. Just stand with your back facing the bathroom mirror, take a small mirror and hold it in front of your face, and can see how the back of your hair looks. You probably already know that 😂 but I just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't. I have long hair also, about the same length as yours, and I've always cut my own hair. I check on youtube every now and then to check out any new techniques that may have surfaced. There are tons of helpful hacks on here. I enjoyed your video!! Thanks.

I have cut my hair a lot over the years. When it had some length, it was never an issue but back in the 70's when I had a foot of length cut off and went for a short pixie, then I went to a salon! I never trusted myself to do anything besides my bangs when it was short. Getting the split ends off every 6 weeks or so really helps the way it looks and I have just never been a fan of going to a shop to get the ends trimmed and coming out feeling like I have just been to a barber shop and have a man's haircut! So, now I do my own all the time. It's not long but not short, either. But, I do have some waves and curls, and I have recently done the wolf cut because I need some layers. It turned out great. You have beautiful hair and now, you can maintain it yourself, if you choose.

Do yourself a favor and splurge on the salon scissors. Even if you use them just once, they essentially pay for themselves in the fact that you didn't pay for a visit to the salon, and you own something you can just put away until you want to use them again. I've been cutting my own hair for 20+ years and I can tell you--using sharp, professional scissors makes a HUGE difference (although it looks like you did a nice job with your fabric scissors).

    • @Corrans

Real hair scissors aren't very expensive. Maybe $15-20 or less depending where you buy them (Target, Sally's, Amazon, etc). Much less $$$ than going to a salon and does a much better job than regular or fabric scissors.
