Amazing base, I made a change by adding a jump up/ladder hatch where you put your locker and then you can expand to second floor, inner peaks, shooting floor, etc. This is basically the best bunkered 2x2.
Thats literally how I expand up! I just didn't give all my secrets cuz I literally main this base

Real easy to build I tried it in pve just to see if it I could get it to work. That's definitely takes some patients to loot open them. Great build for my solo play I will be using it next wipe. Save me alot of time building. I can do a few of these around the map rather then a compound.
A seed, scope or binoculars makes loot 10000x easier and yes 2 to 3 of these is much more effective on any server than a big base! Survives wipe after wipe for me
I have 7k hours and this is a very good base design for solo in high pop servers ty for the great video of how to build it.

First off, love the design. Small change I would make to it is to add a pixel bunker on the bottom floor instead of in the pancake layer. You do lose 2 boxes worth of storage, however you gain much more protection from splash damage. This way you will only loose one roof square instead of 2.
100% it's all about reducing losses for when you enevitably get raided
agreed, put it under the floor and gain 2 extra garage doors in the process.
Good raiders usually check stability with hammer and this way we know if its foundation or pixel bunker and you can break the boxes and with timing, reach the lootbag so its basically useless. On the roof it is just less expected and harder to spot
I agree the real exp raiders will figure it out. But then as many have called out. Is it worth it for a clearly solo base? The cost is pretty high to full loot and I think most wouldn't bother.
Less exp raiders would be completely swindled and confused
@@Reksmore Yes i agree with you, i think the bunker on the top is good, less noticable, but i was talking about the comment saying it should be in the floor. I like and respect the roof idea, havent seen it before, keep it up.
I’ve always found the best way to last a full wipe is too live in a small base that doesn’t look too upgraded throughout the wipe, whilst also just trying not to make enemies and always checking over my shoulder before going home.
Thar is indeed the best way in my opinion too! Which is why an innocent honey combed 2x2 is a good play!
That's how I play as a duo we don't even farm just pvp ocasional
I played a wipe where i lived out of 5 stone 2x1s and didnt get raided at all. Kind of a pain but i did it for science.

I did the same when I first started playing and it worked fairly well but as I kept playing with my bro our playstyle changed and we make way too many enemies to survive in a small base as usually bigger teams end up raiding and those bases are much harder to defend against numbers … we never build mega bases but usually try to design something with defending it in mind we’ve tried lots of different builds liked compounds for a while at the start when I first got the blueprints for the larger walls… now I quite like having multiple bases aswell as a main one which makes spawning back in with sets and avoiding cooldowns much handier and we leave kits in all the bases I also always make a trap base usually as I just enjoy making them haha I’ve pissed off some of the wrong people with these before though a zerg was on their way to raid a base neighbouring my trap base and the guy with the boom fell in and a second died tryna get the boom with a full kit they demanded we gave it back I laughed at them n went to my neighbour to warn them they were gonna be raided n what happened we tagged along with their group to raid them n we split the loot we didn’t get all their stuff but was a good haul but they remained enemies of ours on that server even past that wipe n tbf they managed to screw us next wipe after taking over a whole island and few monuments it took too long to notice them as I was not super close to them and nobody really contested them so they really became a powerhouse that side of the map was just constant Zerg running around kitted out and everyone around them was constantly getting raided as they had a constant supply of sulfur inside their base smh 😂

Dude the time it takes you to launch rust and load into a server is insane… I didn’t know it was possible. 😧
It takes me 5 minutes to launch rust, and other 15 minutes to load into a server…
SSD man, life changing how quick things load
I have an 8 year old computer and it takes me about 25 minutes to load rust and about 65 minutes to get on the server and often the admin will boot me as soon as i wake up because waking up takes me like 5 minutes
@@naaadr3740 i had a old laptop with a HDD that could barely run google. It took me the same amount to load in as it takes you. But I switched to a better device with a SSD and also a good ethernet cable. I can load in rust and in a server under 5 minutes without a doubt. You should upgrade, its worth it.
always run SSD for rust. im literally in any server in under 5 mins

This base is AMAZING for rust console because you can use your teammate to place the loot room boxes so you can immediately access the pixel gap loot rooms without having to wiggle around
Idk if it works on pc, but if you set one player up, looking straight up into the gap, and the other pushes the box placement as far into the players hit box as possible, you can quickly and easily access the loot room every time
It works on high pop servers cuz people don't care bout it

Also on console you have a dot in the middle of your screen super easy to open tc and boxes

I built this on a build server and when you create the gap using 5 triangle foundations, you can loot the boxes through the ceiling gap, but not the TC through the wall. I tried it on each different wall upgrade.
If you create the gap using 7 triangle foundations instead of 5, the wall gap is wide enough to loot the TC as well as the boxes, but it’s obviously slightly more noticeable of a gap so you have to hide it a little better. Great design, I’ll give it a run next wipe. 🤟

What triangles do I delete and what floors do I keep?
Lil tip to find those pixel gaps… using W/D (moving backward and forward) + adjusting your mouse left and right is much more precise than just using A/S (moving side to side) + hoping it lines up. Cheers!

I got distracted by some fucker who offlineraidet my duo base 3 times and used over 100 rockets in total by now
Cool idea but honestly the best raid defense I have ever seen is Auto turrets inside a compound with batteries covering with fence gates. External TCS are really good too where TC ownership just gets passed back making it impossible to build/grief unless you destroy the externals.
Honestly I'm looking at this as like a core. then expanding it to a tower/compound, going up where the locker goes
Those are expensive and time consuming. Not to mention makes you a target.
critic: you can raid the foundation to the right of the entrence revealing a small gap where you can shoot out the twig holding up the bunker. you could easily raid this base with 12 rockets and some explo. And if you unfortunately get top downed or raided through walls (since you can clearly see a bunker through the walls making it useless raiding through doors) there is a decent chance they will hit the tc or loot rooms.
If you take off the bunker people won’t notice it. You can also add a raised foundation to the side of the base so the bunker won’t be noticed

I do this every wipe and add 2 more floors then I add a shooting floor with outer tcs and compound great for duos or solo upkeep is quite hearty for a solo

found out that you can cover up the pixel gap if its too noticeable with a bearskin rug, gotta be good at finding the gap though using the ground to line yourself up!

The roof pixel bunker is pretty clever but most people just splash the roof so that will probably be the first thing they find when raiding the roof.
It's important to make it look like it's worth door raiding. Putting a vending machine in one of the walls by the front door and using only sheet metal doors from what can be seen outside will help with that.

Another thing you can do is build multiple bases, and try to keep your loot as evenly spread as possible. That's the tactic, I like when playing in a larger team. If they reaid one it's easier to recover, also reading all of them at the same time is harder and less likely. Finally, if it's an online raid, it's easier to counter when you have guys spawning from multiple locations.

Being easier to see is actually a bad thing as it can make it visible to raiders

In regards to the tc, are you able to put the honeycomb walls(instead of it being wide open) still and just wedge the tc in the pixel gap? Would it let you if you connected the walls to the proper sockets??
Unfortunately if another wall or frame fills that socket for the pixel gap it closes. I tried every possible combination I could think of to add more security there without compromise to size (adding more honeycomb)
@@Reksmore u can probably put a very slight floor stack and loot between two half walls
if you make the base this way tc cant be reachable now but the top boxes still can be reachable. Tip from me: Use triangle halfwall pixel bunker method for just tc then apply 5 triangle method to have the boxes on top. 😇
The background booms
Given you will be door raided its a nice base. If they are going to start at walls you better hope they luckily don't hit the TC wall. And if they go roof its even worse, they will find your hiddens booms.
I like to remove the floor that's above the bunker and it gives about 4 extra boxes
if they were to get destroyed they can get the loot bag, place the boxes more to the side so if they were destroyed they couldnt be looted thru the loot bag
Just wanna let everyone know I’m on console I used this based still to this day Tc does work it is a bit harder to get thru on stone but metal much easier, but I messed up n put HQM and now I can’t access can’t get thru the gap
I have been running this for about 3 wipes now, I’ve expanded to multiple floors and shooting floor multiple times. I’ve been raided and nobody has ever found the ceiling loot, I have a clip of me going back in after a raid and showing it 😂

I've done this concept with external TCs and in caves. Just a heads up this is able to be explo'd or melee'd in the right spot. Put a large box between the TC and wall. Lock both. Box can be shot out etc but the TC can't.

i thought up a way to make this a double bunker with externals , wide gapped , open core , internals and shooting floor off of just that starter
Hell yes! I love the people who realize this is just a starting point. It opens up many options
just so you know, that bunker can be broken with a single incen rocket shot in the top left corner. the flame splashes through the walls and burns the twig. this bug makes this bunker almost useless, so i would recommend going with a standard roof conditional instead of this one.

thats why with bunkers, you dont seal with twig, you seal with wood. Takes longer to open but most arent willing to fire off a bunch of incens to open it and have to deal with counters while everyone hears rockets.

Patched? Tried it several times on console and never could get it to allow me to open the tc. Could see a black line, but nothing else seemed to be working
the tradeoff is that you cannot fully honeycomb since you have the TC there
I think this idea has a really great potential. There are possibly a ton of things that can be done with this extension of the classic pixel bunker

Maybe putting a twig + sheet door on pixelgap to look like it's a builders mistake
I do that with double door frames! I just didn't put it in because then people know all my secrets
well... if raiders go through side honeycombs they'll have 25% chance of getting straight to TC with only 8 rockets. Taking that into account, I'd prefer keeping TC inside the 2x2 and put one garage dor more instead of having access the gap. Then it will cost at least 8+16 rockets to get TC if considering raiders going through walls and could cost even more when going through doors because of the 16 rockets roof bunker.
Valid concerns, I like to try to give people a reason to raid in a certain path. So when I build this with expansion plans, I leave the locker area open to go up. This makes players much more likely to raid the wall behind the locker as it'd be cheaper to core
People dont put pixel gap in the roof cause if they realize they will jack hammer up.

as far as i know we shouldn't be seeing a patch on it, but it could happen anytime as this kind of building is not intentional! it works right now!

destroy the wall that closes it, if you're stuck outside you need to spawn inside to do so. That should be a twig wall

As I have now built, and been raided in this base, here is my critique.
The pixel gaps are great, both times ive been raided, they missed them or didnt care enough to try. The second time they used the biggest and easiest downfall of this design.. the twig. They were able to break the twig using some form of spash damage but I am sure most would work. This effectively cut the cost to raid by 15 rockets (I had armored roof pieces and wall near front door).
I am no builder, but if you could somehow make it so that placing a piece is what opens it, as opposed to closes it, that would eliminate that big issue.
But with that twig piece being so easily broken by raiders, this base becomes almost completely unusable.
Great note! So, at the time of this build, I was not aware that this type of conditional roof bunker was raidable via fire.
I will likely do a keeper 2.0 soon to revamp a couple issues with this base.
if you swapped it out for the other type of conditional roof bunker, I BELIEVE it is not raidable in the same manor. (i do have a video of how to do this type of bunker) it's not much different and does also offer more storage space
