Jan Sibelius
Violin Concerto in D minor, Op 47
1 Allegro moderato
2 Adagio di molto
3 Allegro, ma non tanto
David Oistrakh, violin
Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra
Gennady Rozhdestvensky, conductor -
Oistrakh is not only one of the greatest violinist ever, is also a musical Genius.
The violin here is not the "solist" instrument but the living heart of the whole composition.
His musical vision is wider than his instrument, he embrace the whole orchestra. Huge masterpiece.
the one and only..........
Precisely. For me this is it so far as this concerto goes.
I used to think Heifetz was the gold standard for this concerto. No longer. Flawless technique, of course, but also power, drive and above all certainty. Amazing and unique. Bravo.
He perfectly negotiates passages that others gloss or stumble over. No affectations. Another day at the office. A great performance. Thank you the whole ensemble.
One of the best violinist of all history, technically impeccable and musically sublime.
THE best 😍

NOT TRUE! David Oistrakh not the Best Sibelius violin concerto player! The Best greatest Sibelius violin concerto players Are really 1: Guila Bustabo ( THE QUEEN TIGER!!!).2: Viktor Tretjakov ( THE KING! THE GREATEST).3: Jascha Heifetz (.The Big hot Juice violin sound! Heifetz better sound than David Oistrakh).4:Gidon Kremer ( not his LP or CD! LIVE KREMER=Hurricane version! The Best Sibelius violin concerto!.).5: Leonid.Kogan( Better than David Oistrakh! Russia should Check All Their radio broadcast archives to find.more documents Kogan Sibelius!. Only is France 1974 tape).

For me still the greatest violinist ever
I agree with you but I like Henryk Szeryng very mush, too. He is also one of the giants. Try to hear him and you'll love it.

In fact I knew some in his family. Grear, kindest man, from poorest circumstances. His first pay for a concert was ten kilos of potatoes. Very valuable then as today. I know well the country of poverty then and in particular today. Poor bastards. They had to pay a high price for the "freedom".
I love his performances for over 30 years. Absolutely great.
Couldn’t agree with you more.
Ah, David, we miss you still.
Jaw dropping performance! Only a violinist would understand - such power, such lyricism, such phrasing, king of violinists as he was called!
The orchestra couldn't keep up with him
Great great great!! Any concerto he played became gold. Legend!!!
Strong, precise, and warm, as usual. My favorite.
These violinist of yesteryear will never be replaced.such emotion and precised bowing and such demand of the violin.bravo.
Großartige Interpretation eines an Wundern reichen Konzertes. Danke!
Wonderful performance, emotional and commited as Oistrakh used to do. It is another masterpiece by Jean Sibelius.
Nothing compares to this.
You can tell the beauty of the music by the contrast of the video quality to the music. Just amazing.
(Also the audience doesn't clap between movements, my right ear much appreciates this)
What a treasure! Thank you for this recording. ❤️ 💙 💜
What a wonderful player he was! And this performance of the Sibelius was superb - technically and musically! Thanks for posting! 💐🌹🍀🌺🍁🦋🎉🎶🎻🎶🌺🍀👍😀
Too marvelous for words.
Maravillosa ejecución del Prestigioso Maestro y Excepcional CONCERTISTA , el Legendarios Violinista David Oistrakh .
BRAVO
I cried listening his 2nd movement
Me too😭
A gorgeous, sumptuous performance of a magnificent piece. This is one of my all-time favourite musical compositions, exquisitely performed.
extraordinary performance! By far the best version. masterful playing.
Straordinario come sempre.
the legend...
Too good, truly incomparable!!!
Best version.
Absolument unique
He’s always been my favorite. His playing inspired me to start playing violin in my late teens. I was compelled to play that instrument after hearing one of his recordings while in college. I was blown away. Made it to semi professional level. Even with the sub par recording equipment and blurry video quality the beauty, power, and his amazing tone still come through so strongly. Never heard anyone like him before or since!
Wonderful performance ! Thanks for sharing :)
Amazing !!! What a marvelous performance!!! It took my breath away!!! Thank you for sharing ❤️
unique, i like it more than the famous Heifetz recording. So much intensity in his tone.
The 1935 Beecham/Heifetz is the one to look for, not the 1960 most people go to. The Ferras video is extremely moving too. Oistrakh here is sublime indeed.
A piece of art
breathtaking...
Totally understandable why so many Junior semi-finalists at this year's 2021 Menuhin Competition are inspired by David Oistrakh's playing
Did they all play Sibelius?
Perfection.
Sublime
That violin sings holy shit.
My musical grate grandfather
Az egyik leg emberibb hegedűverseny Beethoven után. Nincsenek benne sallangok.
Francoise Pailhes Merci! Je l'ecouté. C'est vrai absolutment grandieuse!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The ONLY ONE.
Timeless, of course. But does anyone know when this recording was made?
1966
да .
What year is this marvellous performance recorded?
1966
While I enjoyed this whole thing, mind, nonetheless one wishes that the bit beginning 4:47 had gone on & on...

michele beart lol nice
5 people are not violinists
