Oistrakh has an absolutely perfect blend of virtuosity and musicality. The GREATEST.
WW2 destroyed most of those things a few years before this was recorded. It was barely getting back to normal
My only ONE violinist, David Oistrach❤
Possibly the greatest rendering of this under-performed masterpiece. The genius of Dvorak’s writing for strings comes alive in Mr. Oistrakh’s energetic, polished, and expressive playing.
The best violin concerto played by the best violinist... wow
I agree
🎉
Indeed.
The concerto for violin of Dvorak is a very lyrical work. It stands between the model of Mendessohn, where the voilin enters from the beginning, and the construction of the concertos of Beethoven and Brahms. Together, this lyrical aspect and that peculiar construction make it so appealing ! Oïstrakh is excellent when rendering this lyrical aspect of the score. This recording is a gem.
He is the world's finest ever
Such clarity and sensitivity.
Excellent Tone. Excellent Speed, not too fast, just perfect. Every note is nice and clear!
Dude good morning. He is David Oistrakh what do you expecting 😂🤔
Pure GOLD!
The greatest musician under all violinists ever.
Heiftez and Menuhin as far as I listened to, were just as amazing~!
Exactly 😊
Absolument...
he's just the best one of all time !! thank's M OISTRAKH for so much emotions and happyness.
David Oistrakh is a god!!
No, he was gifted by God.
Damn! Almost 70 years old and it looks like it was recorded only 20 years ago! Truly beautiful!
Here's to remastering!
In Oistrakh's hands, the Dvorak sounds like a completely different concerto. I've NEVER heard it played so poetically.
I totally agree. David's magic...
King David
Quels « autres » ? Il n'y a que lui, pour moi.
Oistrach.... such power!
This is a very expressive version of the concerto of Dvorak - that is what he was looking for, he did notplan to build up a concerto like Beethoven or his friend Brahms. The voicce of the soloist is the main focus of the concerto, and here what a voice! Great registering !!!!!!!
The transition between the first and the second movement is marvelous… 9:53
INDEED !
This is my David Oistrakh!
The orquestra also sounds great.
Perhaps the best interpretation of this concerto. It's a pity this piece is not performed frequently.
YES!
I like very much also Mitropoulos/Stern 1951.
>> It's a pity this piece is not performed frequently.
@zvi kreisler
Not that I disagree in principle. But on the other hand, maybe it's a good thing, actually. If there were twice as much gold in the world, gold would be worthy only half as much.
@@TS13579 I agree with you!
May be because it is extremely difficult to play!
@@falamimire Thank you!
Tolle Aufnahme!
Krásna a ťažká skladba v podaní Maestra znie nádherne.Vzácny kus a vzácne prevedenie.Anika.
This gave me goosebumps. Beautifully played.
The GOAT.
Maestro 🙏
The best interpretation in my mind. Thanks for uploading!
Such clarity, expressiveness and rhythmic unity from a recording session so long ago! Ya lublyu etu musiku!
Good Russian! Next time try using cirilics. My hubby after 40 years never progressed beyond Zdravstvuite!
endless thanks for this magnificent masterpiece. IMO this is the finest rendition of Dvorak's violin concerto by far- Oistrakh elevates it to unattainable beauty & grace, just beyond words. thanks once more.
Thank you so much for uploaded.Bravo, Brava!!!!!👍👍👏👏
Brava is for Females only, plural would be Bravi
Music is such a universal language, no need for translation. 😃
Blew my mind. Totally. Spasibo Oistrakh
Me too. Amazing.
David, you beast! Wonderful!
BEST...PIECE...EVER!!!!!
Wonderful rendition.
This concert has SO MUCH of the symphony of the new world, I love it!
What does that mean?
BRAVO ; deslumbrante interpretación .
Un violino che era un'intera orchestra. Un poeta.
many thanks did not know this was part of Oistrakh's repertoire. Excellent
Old but gold.
A masterpiece, thank you.
This video is a gem. Thanks so much for loading down.
Einfach wunderbar!
I love Kondrashin!!!!!! Life!!!!!
Just perfect!
Wow!
This wonderful recording is ruined by having ads in the middle of the performance! Shame TH-cam! 😡
4:36 this part is beautiful

Magnifique !
Magnifico
Idk it seems pretty good
Wonderful ! Thank you for posting !
A MASTERPIECE DVRJAC OISTRAKC
When making comments it should be about the performance of the Dvorak Violin concerto op 53 that is recorded in Soviet Russia in 1949. It should not be about the social situation, or the political situation, or the economic situation in Soviet Russia etc.
How about music? Not performers
@@rushana1956 each performer sounds differently! It’s like saying the scene is more important then the artist, who painted it!
@@stonefireice6058 in some way, yes -- scene is even more important
Lol who made you the rule maker
bello
Can't have a better Dvorak vc. Can't have anyone better than Oistrakh. Not even Heifetz.
Kavakos comes very close
The clash of classic really. Dvorzak is so new and modern, hard for conservative standings but so much full of life, especialy in this outfit.Wish I had a soul...
Without soul this music would be dead to you, so you have it! But there is no clash, Dvorak stands tall with all composers before him and after. He is among them, loved and appreciated.
Cela me rappelle tant de souvenirs,,,
Gracias !!!
I own this on cd. it's awesome!
7:34 this. This. So stunning.
Enchanting!
Hey David! How are you doing these days? You sound great as always. Hope to see you soon!
que hermoso!!!
I wonder if it is recorded in 1949. Nothing like analog sound.
Charlotte Lai
...this was my very first record of the Dvorak which I bought around 1975 by Melodia Eurodisc: the pressing and the sound of that record was really horrible: now the new versions are excellent. Another great artist for the Dvorak was my very dear friend Ruggiero Ricci, I copied his fingerings of the Sydney-version for Ovation Press. I also love Isaac Stern with Ormandy...
excellent!!
Excelente canal.
BRAVOOOO
bravo
BEST!
Hes perfect for Dvorak!
Oistrakh is perfect for any composer,be that Haydn, Beethoven, Dvorak or Shostakovich!
1949!
musique maqnifique
juer divinement
It was worth living to listen to this magnificent performance (both the orchestra-conductor and soloist) of this beautiful masterpiece.
So sad that if you are searching for this concerto on TH-cam. the results are fully spammed by the those mediocre, boring female performers of recent days....
Lol misogyny is so hilarious
Heard others play it and forgot usually. The strong forceful rendition is so lively ,honest it will stay with me. Did Kogan too record this. Kremer wouldn't bother. He'd be interesting in this. Prefer Schnittke to this certainly. Kremer hasn't recorded the Stravinsky or Ligeti concerti that I'm aware they are more than worthwhile.
Terrific!
I just listened to the recent Hahn live recording. Here Oistrakh's tone makes hers sound like a student. Plus there's just so much more soul.
If it is a fact that this was recorded in 1949, this is the most astonishing recorded sound I've ever heard. Can anyone actually confirm this?
It's highly doubtful this is a 1949 Soviet recording. The sound is not just hi-fi but seems stereophonic. The real clue is the sound of the orchestra. Great performance of course.
22:34
Does anyone know what piece Oistrakh is holding the sheet music to in the photo?
Beethoven 6th sonata
nadharne
Love these old Soviet recordings. Reminds of a time we all lived in fear/awe of what was coming out of Russia
Klaus Götza You forgot about Afghanistan, Ukraine, etc., and the subjugation of Eastern Europe? How convenient of you, my Frau. Oh, and since you're German, what have the Germans wrought in misery and suffering? You must be a Communist, and we know approximately how many scores of millions they have murdered. Let's just enjoy Maestro Oistrakh, and forget about politics for a day and think of beauty and sunshine. Oh, I'm sorry - I guess you are a guy. My bad. Your hairstyle made me think you were a Grandmother..
Well those times are back
