Audio comes out of your mixer via audio cable, then goes into a USB audio input capture device, then in OBS under sources you add an audio input capture. If your audio input capture device is. connected it will show up as an available source. Pick it and you are all set! 👌
Good stuff. For lighting any kind of dj uplights that have white color setting will work extremely well even green uplighting on a clear wall to create a green screen effect will also work.

I'm streaming with traktor, obs, a Maya 44 USB card (4 RCA in / 4 RCA out) and a two channel behringer mixer. The only thing I can't figure is how to manage the obs master volume from the 2 channel mixer so when live djing i have to keep coming back to obs windows to adjust the volume. Very annoying!
I wish I could help, but I only use Serato, so I wouldn't't know where to look. Your audio shouldn't be changing from what it was on your last session, so I'm not sure where the issue is.
Pulkit Hey what’s up. I did it Mainly for 2 reasons. One because it uses less CPU which makes for a smoother stream. The other reason is because at the time when I made this video, I was mainly using periscope to livestream. They have recommended settings and if you go higher they won’t let you connect to the platform. Most people watch periscope from their phone so streaming at 540p is still ok. You can always go higher but it will use more data.
Most computers can handle decent bitrate, and even more if it has a dedicated GPU. I wouldn’t recommended degrading video flat out. I’m on 2017 MacBook i7 with a dedicated GPU. I can even have Serato, in a Zoom meeting, GarageBand, 3 browser tabs, OBS, and even a few more smaller apps open. I’m fine at 3500bitrate with 192 audio. Also to assume most people are watching from their phone is not true. It’s more on what platform you’re streaming to. Twitch users mainly watch from computers.
@@cbalz0423 Hey what's up cbalz0423. I appreciate your comment and I believe what you are saying, however that has not been my experience. I have been primarily streaming on periscope for over 3 years and most of my audience watches from their phone. I understand this is probably not the case for twitch. On periscope when you use OBS through periscope producer, it tells you what you have to lower your settings to and it won't let you connect until you lower your audio & video bitrate settings. Still, this is my recommendation for a one computer stream setup for DJs. If you are confident having all those apps open with web browsers OBS running etc then that's cool, however I wouldn't recommend that. I have seen DJs Serato crash & freeze for much less. When you start adding up OBS, Serato, Mix Emergency, a Green Screen, Transparent Overlays, Animations, all the multiple layers that are combined to make a scene & being live it can add up on your cpu pretty quickly. Unless you can afford to have a second computer to take the streaming load off your performing computer, then sure go as high res as you can. I wouldn't recommend pushing your computer to the limit though when you are live-streaming especially if you are on a one computer setup. This has worked for many DJs that I have helped get their cpu under control. CPU being too high or spiking can be a nightmare. But hey I'm all ears man. If you think you have a better recommendation or if you think I am mistaken, then I would love to hear more from you! I want this to be an open community for us to share our experiences and learn from each other.
i connect my controller ddjsx with a USB on to my desktop computer and clicked on audio input capture and I don't know why still there is no sound coming from my controller even though I already clicked audio input then clicked device ddjsx
Update your serato, install iShowU audio capture, under settings audio make audio available for other applications, then use iShowU audio as your source.
no syphon client in windows version of obs. how do we get round that, i think apple has discontinued support for obs anyway now so syphon client doesnt work... can you help us please
Syphon client still works for obs on Mac. I'm not sure what is happening on PC. I think what you need to do is this. Go to mix emergency>preferences>sharing and make sure output is checked. If it is not checked it won't show up as an option for syphon client. Let me know if that works.
I believe so. You should also be able to do a syphon client for Serato video. Just make sure it is active first. You should def make the switch to ME though. In my opinion it's a way better version of Serato Video.

DjTecniq I get it. You could always go higher these are the better bare minimum settings that I wouldn’t go lower than. The less strain on your CPU the better your Serato and mix emergency will work.
DJ Beneficial That makes sense. I don’t use M.E. I still have Serato video lol which uses more cpu but my laptop is a 2014 w/dual graphics I’m still not even using half my cpu in Serato which is great. I use loopback, 2 webcams & syphon w/visuals . I love the duplicate scenes you mentioned i had no idea about that. This tutorial I’ve learned so much about OBS. You’re a legend!
hey champ i was wondering if you can help i was doing a 4hr set on mixcloud and it disconnected after 4hrs its meant to disconnect after 8hrs but it did not reconnect to virtual dj even though virtual dj was still playing is there a setting that needs to be turned on so mixcloud will automatically reconnect sorry im new to virtual dj
My first question is why would it disconnect at all unless you click the disconnect button? Do you set a time limit for yourself or is it a time limit that Mixcloud sets for you? It’s my understanding that you pay a monthly fee to get an unlimited amount of live streaming hours per month. I haven’t streamed on Mixcloud lately so I don’t know if the rules have changed but I thought it was just like any other streaming service just that you have to pay so you don’t worry about copyright issues. So I’m just wondering why would it disconnect even after eight hours? But my main thought would be that if you are using Wi-Fi that will disconnect all the time and you would need to get a hard wired connection. Even if your router is in the same room if it has a hic up for even a moment it can have a difficult time reconnecting and you would lose your feed. I’ve been streaming for years and this is a common disappointment but when I switched to a hard wired connection I never had that problem again. If you are scheduling a live stream from this time to that time maybe just don’t schedule it and go live then you can end it whenever you’re ready to do so. Also just based on what you’re saying here I’m trying to picture you’re saying it’s disconnecting to virtual DJ but are you not streaming from OBS? Sorry because I am not familiar with virtual DJ I have used it in the past but it’s been probably a decade. Originally I used it because it was the only video DJ software back in the late 2000s. If anything I would recommend Serato it’s the most stable most commonly used DJ software has the best support and just overall the most functional. I’m sure virtual DJ has some features that Serato doesn’t and vice versa but I think it might be worth a try to use Serato with OBS and it should work perfectly. I hope that helps.
Hey Dj Benefical, So I’m trying to video dj using two different computers 1st computer running Serato dj and a elgato hd60 capture card to a Mac mini running obs and can’t seem to output the music video to the capture card and into OBS I need help.
Not sure about the HD 60 I have the HD 60+ and it has worked for me sending to another Mac but not a Mac mini a regular MacBook Pro. What operating system are you on now? I still have not updated to Big Sur myself because a lot of things changed and a lot of apps I have used like snap cam no longer work so I had to use a time machine back up to revert back to Catalina. Personally I would recommend using a PC as your streaming computer. First off there are many more plug-ins available for it so your ability to create a more dynamic live stream would be much greater than anything you could ever do on a Mac which is what I plan on doing at some point. I don’t know if a Mac mini is powerful enough but I don’t know for a fact that it isn’t. So what actually happens when you connect it does it show up as an available source and you get a black screen, or does it not even show up as an available source? Also have you gone into your accessibility settings and granted OBS access to everything it needs? Have you tried all of your USB ports? Describe to me what you do and don’t see.
I got everything set up when I go live and I'm mixing people can listen to the song coming up when the channel one is up and the channel to is down so people are listening turn the channel to as well can you help me on that

Great job on the tutorial. I am looking to set up on Mixcloud, just want to ensure that my scenes and sources work correctly, especially with my 5 minute countdown timer. Wanted to know if I use Mixcloud, would I still need Restream IO to allow to the other sources such as TH-cam, FB or IG? Still working on getting the GoPro to work as well and another cam source such as a cell phone or Digital Cam
Thank you Hal 🙏 You would need restream if you wanted to do multiple sources. You broadcast to that source and they send it to your multiple sources. Theres just a small delay about 5 seconds.
@@anthonybrancato4318 I use the Mixcloud and it works great. With the recent OBS upgrade, I had to redo all of my settings, which was a bummer, but it worked. I do need to have better video without the buffering delay due to the settings too high. Not sure the perfect number to set that at. Make sure that you do stream with the OBS as well as the LIVE on Mixcloud. That should work for you

Hey Mike Whitt You can use any dj program that you like. I haven't used virtual DJ in a long time so im not sure if you can syphon the output window. You might need to do a display capture and have the videos on a 2nd monitor. Or maybe a window capture might work. As for zoom I wouldn't recommend it because Zoom isn't designed for music and sometimes the audio can cut out with too many people in one room. I have only used zoom for work conferences.

If you're doing a stream with just one camera and not too many layers in your scene I would say one computer will be fine. If you have multiple camera angles and use a lot of .mov .webm files layered that's where the issues start to happen. That's when you really need a streaming computer. Also Stinger transitions can make your cpu spike as well.
DJ JayByrd yes, the mix emergency or Serato video (which ever you prefer) will keep going in the background and it will look like you are DJing inside the music video.
Hello William Stokes, Yes you would need to mirror your display and have Serato on full screen with a capture card. I just got the Elgato HD60 S today and it is working for me. You can also do it on a 1 computer setup if you have 2 monitors by doing a display capture. OBS will need to be on the 2nd monitor to do this.

Sorry for the late reply. Mine is set to 2500. 3500 is good though. If you are looking to save cpu I wouldn't recommend going to low on audio, since it takes less cpu than video does. If cpu is an issue I would go down to 720 before lowering audio bitrate. Also make sure audio bitrate is at the least 160.

You can do a display capture. But you need a second monitor hooked up for it to work, and allow accessibility.

Hi just seen your video and hope you can help? When I set my Audio Input Capture settings to my irig stream device, nothing shows on obs audio mixer?
You probably need an audio input capture device that has a USB on it.

Only thing that threw me off was the audio bitrate 96? Why so low? I see 128-160 is standard for streaming? Just curious

I still have Serato video lol which uses more cpu but my laptop is a 2014 w/dual graphics I’m still not even using half my cpu in Serato which is great. I use loopback, 2 webcams & syphon w/visuals . hey champ i was wondering if you can help i was doing a 4hr set on mixcloud and it disconnected after 4hrs its meant to disconnect after 8hrs but it did not reconnect to virtual dj even though virtual dj was still playing is there a setting that needs to be turned on so mixcloud will automatically reconnect sorry im new to virtual dj
My first question is why would it disconnect at all unless you click the disconnect button? Do you set a time limit for yourself or is it a time limit that Mixcloud sets for you? It’s my understanding that you pay a monthly fee to get an unlimited amount of live streaming hours per month. I haven’t streamed on Mixcloud lately so I don’t know if the rules have changed but I thought it was just like any other streaming service just that you have to pay so you don’t worry about copyright issues. So I’m just wondering why would it disconnect even after eight hours? But my main thought would be that if you are using Wi-Fi that will disconnect all the time and you would need to get a hard wired connection. Even if your router is in the same room if it has a hic up for even a moment it can have a difficult time reconnecting and you would lose your feed. I’ve been streaming for years and this is a common disappointment but when I switched to a hard wired connection I never had that problem again. If you are scheduling a live stream from this time to that time maybe just don’t schedule it and go live then you can end it whenever you’re ready to do so. Also just based on what you’re saying here I’m trying to picture you’re saying it’s disconnecting to virtual DJ but are you not streaming from OBS? Sorry because I am not familiar with virtual DJ I have used it in the past but it’s been probably a decade. Originally I used it because it was the only video DJ software back in the late 2000s. If anything I would recommend Serato it’s the most stable most commonly used DJ software has the best support and just overall the most functional. I’m sure virtual DJ has some features that Serato doesn’t and vice versa but I think it might be worth a try to use Serato with OBS and it should work perfectly. I hope that helps.
Hey Dj Benefical, So I’m trying to video dj using two different computers 1st computer running Serato dj and a elgato hd60 capture card to a Mac mini running obs and can’t seem to output the music video to the capture card and into OBS I need help.
Not sure about the HD 60 I have the HD 60+ and it has worked for me sending to another Mac but not a Mac mini a regular MacBook Pro. What operating system are you on now? I still have not updated to Big Sur myself because a lot of things changed and a lot of apps I have used like snap cam no longer work so I had to use a time machine back up to revert back to Catalina. Personally I would recommend using a PC as your streaming computer. First off there are many more plug-ins available for it so your ability to create a more dynamic live stream would be much greater than anything you could ever do on a Mac which is what I plan on doing at some point. I don’t know if a Mac mini is powerful enough but I don’t know for a fact that it isn’t. So what actually happens when you connect it does it show up as an available source and you get a black screen, or does it not even show up as an available source? Also have you gone into your accessibility settings and granted OBS access to everything it needs? Have you tried all of your USB ports? Describe to me what you do and don’t see.

I got everything set up when I go live and I'm mixing people can listen to the song coming up when the channel one is up and the channel to is down so people are listening turn the channel to as well can you help me on that
How are you connecting your audio? And what type of mixer are you using?

Great job on the tutorial. I am looking to set up on Mixcloud, just want to ensure that my scenes and sources work correctly, especially with my 5 minute countdown timer. Wanted to know if I use Mixcloud, would I still need Restream IO to allow to the other sources such as TH-cam, FB or IG? Still working on getting the GoPro to work as well and another cam source such as a cell phone or Digital Cam
Thank you Hal 🙏 You would need restream if you wanted to do multiple sources. You broadcast to that source and they send it to your multiple sources. Theres just a small delay about 5 seconds.
Hi I read you use mic cloud. Have you had any connectivity issues? I couldn’t get my stream to come through last night. Green light was on obs
@@anthonybrancato4318 I use the Mixcloud and it works great. With the recent OBS upgrade, I had to redo all of my settings, which was a bummer, but it worked. I do need to have better video without the buffering delay due to the settings too high. Not sure the perfect number to set that at. Make sure that you do stream with the OBS as well as the LIVE on Mixcloud. That should work for you

I'm not sure, but I don't think so, because it has to send out a video signal even if it is blank. I don't think you can use OBS for just audio.

Hey Mike Whitt You can use any dj program that you like. I haven't used virtual DJ in a long time so im not sure if you can syphon the output window. You might need to do a display capture and have the videos on a 2nd monitor. Or maybe a window capture might work. As for zoom I wouldn't recommend it because Zoom isn't designed for music and sometimes the audio can cut out with too many people in one room. I have only used zoom for work conferences.

If you're doing a stream with just one camera and not too many layers in your scene I would say one computer will be fine. If you have multiple camera angles and use a lot of .mov .webm files layered that's where the issues start to happen. That's when you really need a streaming computer. Also Stinger transitions can make your cpu spike as well.
So when I use the green screen for music videos every time I change the song the new video will appear with it?
DJ JayByrd yes, the mix emergency or Serato video (which ever you prefer) will keep going in the background and it will look like you are DJing inside the music video.

Hello William Stokes, Yes you would need to mirror your display and have Serato on full screen with a capture card. I just got the Elgato HD60 S today and it is working for me. You can also do it on a 1 computer setup if you have 2 monitors by doing a display capture. OBS will need to be on the 2nd monitor to do this.

Sorry for the late reply. Mine is set to 2500. 3500 is good though. If you are looking to save cpu I wouldn't recommend going to low on audio, since it takes less cpu than video does. If cpu is an issue I would go down to 720 before lowering audio bitrate. Also make sure audio bitrate is at the least 160.

Here's a helpful hint. If you press the spacebar, it will pause the video. Also Pressing the left arrow key will rewind the video. I hope this helps! 👌
