Been 24/7 livestreaming non-stop since 2020...from using my own machine to vitural server . Having the virtual server was great except for the limitations. As for the audience...it's two different crowds thats for sure. My 24/7 crowd doesnt always make it to my "non-live" videos. I get it...it's hard to watch someone yapping away when you are used to the watching an erupting volcano live or viewing a earthquake swarm live. Good video Michael. Always like your take on educating those looking for way to better their channels. Aloha
Thanks for the feedback!
interesting. What is your hardware and software setup for your 24/7 stream?
What virtual server did you use?
Am having 142 subs...And starting now am gonna use 24*7 . Lets see how long I'll grow....Credits will be yours ,my friend.
I tried once doing the live stream with a video playing over and over looping it on StreamYard and my audience was like, "when are you coming on, Robin??" I couldn't get away with it lol but I might try it again with this little trick. Thanks so much for sharing!
Cant wait to hear how it goes.
love it. I've been thinking about doing this too. reminds me of after the late late night shows end, the infomercials play until morning. when i'm not live i'll just let my personal infomercial run till I get back online 🤔
I love that idea!!
Nice Video. Michael, your stuff is always staight to the point and clearly done. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great asset for the news channel I work with! Thank you Michael !
That’s the perfect type of thing for this.
I’m really curious about what you said at the end. Doing this from a cloud server for $20. You have examples of this?
You can do a search for server space and find all sorts of cheap options. its really a product of how much it takes to run a smooth instance of OBS and VLC tht just encodes simple videos and streams them. Since you probably have to use X264 for the encoding it could be more overhead to get a smoth stream than I am thinking, but if the videos are all optimized it shouldnt be much for OBS to encode an X264 stream and server bandwith going up is pretty much infinate, or at least way more than a stream like this would require.
Really nice tutorial :) Thank you!!
Glad to help.
Excellent information. 👍 Thanks so much Michael 😊👉🏻👻👻👻
Glad you enjoyed it
I could see this being useful as an indie game developer for having content running all day on launch day.
For sure
This is a great ideas for growing the audience! Thanks Michael for the great info, questions: can this be done on Facebook? What if I want to stream 3 days a week, is there a setup for it? Hop to hear from you, I always learn new things from your content, much appreciated you ❤
I dont see why it couldnt be done on facebook.
What a great idea!
Thanks
Thanks man!!
Nice video. I am just wondering how stable this would actually be as a 24/7 service, since OBS is software running in a desktop environment, i think running a web service type system might provide further stability, and could probably perform better on a lower powered system. Especially if someone is going to keep it on / running 24/7 365 days a year.
Michael, you mentioned a server....dumb question but where do you find that so I could do that. Great idea and great video
Just do a search for server space on your favorite search engine.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr so, i looked some up and they range widely......so i guess my question for you is how to i figure out the size i need to put OBS on and say a 2 hour loop of video....if you can point me in the direction to figure that out......i could decide on one perhaps....i mean there is 1 $5 a month with 30 GB SSD - 150 GB SSD and 1 - 8 cores, 1 GB - 8 GB but i just don't know how to translate that
@@beyondthepain-estrangementdid you ever figure it out? 😅
Stream yard?
I love this video so musch ❤
I love your content. I have a question: Why do you prefer using the stream key over connecting your account to OBS?
Mostly just a creature of habit. I was doing this long before any direct connection was available so I just got in the habit of doing it that way. I also change the stream key a lot for security just because I never know if I maay accidentally leave the key in a video or something.
Big ups for that Iced Earth t-shirt 🤘😁
One of my favorites
How do you make it 24/7 tho? I mean eventually you have to turn off your pc...? Won't OBS stop running ?
It will run as long as you keep it on.
this really helped me thx
Glad to help.
Thanks for content. I have a question that I can't find any answer for that anywhere. I have a7slll and I want recording with that in OBS with 4K 60FPS, but OBS just let me select preset for that maximum 1980*1080 and not more. why I can't find 3840x2160 option for that? in other hand I have DJI osmo pocket 3 and with that I have 3840x2160 but maximum in 30 FPS :)) . how can I have 4k in My Sony Camera in OBS ? I use iMac and I connect my camera to OBS with USB C and it works well. Thanks you
love your t-shirt! \m/
Thanks!
Very, very nice, Michael! Having watched a few of this kind of 24/7 stream on other channels I wondered if and how I could do it too.
however, I now have a great fear of seeing a 24/7 livestream of Carl the Cat
We need more Carl huh lol
good
Thanks
Always on point
Thanks
Does TH-cam allow uploading the same content a couple of time?
thanks you sir
Glad to help.
I did the same thing for my vertical live stream what u said, but audio is not working. Can u please guide me
What Obs version do you use?
I am currently on the newest version. Which is rare for me, but its stable.
Hello Michael, could you please advise why the streaming after 24+ hours OBS is lagging. The only helping if i am restarting the OBS. Same time PC is working properly. Thanks
could be lots of things, heat in the PC has it throttling performance, Ram fills up with no way to purge while you are live. Lots if potential things.
Thx
No problem
What about the 12 hour thing on TH-cam where you can only stream for 12 hours and then you need to make a new live stream?
I dont know how that works. I didnt see any limitation like that.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr yes TH-cam doesn’t archive live streams over 12 hours so you have to make a new one once the 12 hours is up.
You can stream for more than 12 hours, but the restriction is that TH-cam doesn't save the video, so users cannot watch it after the stream has finished.
@@RobinsBuysandDIYs you can do a stream for more than 12 hours, I have donde in other channel.
@@RobinsBuysandDIYsYou can do a stream for more than 12 hours; I have done it on another channel.
Something nice
:-)
How do we get more than one stream at the same time?
This sounds like a great way to get monetized? As long as someone’s watching, you are getting watch time?
Yep
You might run into problems by posting reused content. Not sure though
Do Live
hmm...
Pretty Cool huh.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr not a bad idea to run this at night. it might be way easier to use a paid service like cast r, but yeah
Can you do 2nd stream while having your 24/7 live stream ongoing?
i just want to ask brother @MichaelFeyrerJr, if i stream 24/7 my own old video from youtube , i will not get reuse content?
Just subscribed to your channel. I emailed with few questions about live streams. Please, check your email when you have time. Thank U very much for your work!
