The media say there's been backlash about the Tuchel appointment, but the backlash came from the media not the fans themselves. The fans just react to what the media put out to the world and sometimes you get the stupid minority that agree with the media but deep down the only ones discriminating are the media
Absolutely, the media are just businesses that need money to survive, they dont care about what's right. They care about surviving. Which means creating noise.
Hear hear! too darn true
At the end of the day we're paying off a German guy to get a trophy as we can't win one ourselves. It's a grave humiliation for the country and more fans should be aware of this.
@Michael-ms6vr as German I have no problem with that as it is your country.
@LewisCollins. To say that a stupid minority falls for the media's discrimination is generous towards the minority. Once the "stupid" agree with the media both sides are equally discriminatory. And is it really a minority? It seems English fans generally embrace Tuchel but it might flip if he fails brutally. Good luck with Tuchel 👍🏾
AMEN
Thomas has lived in England, loves England, and will do his Best for the Team and its Fans. That's all that really counts.
He is German!
His heart is with England, he feels at home here, that's what counts as Pep says you don't choose where you were born.
We dont no that. And it doesn't count for anything.
I dont care where your from, if your in this country, and care for this country, you can represent it too.
So the England team can have any nationality football player in the team then as long as they have lived in England, love England and will do their best for the team? That's all that counts right?..
Tuchel is the best manager available for the job. A huge step up in quality from Southgate. That’s all I need to know. Now let’s go on and win the World Cup.
Win the World Cup. Yeh sure 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Clwydz_redmenYNWA trent wont be happy with you
Why is he a 'huge step up in quality from Southgate'? Curious to hear your breakdown of that theory.
@@MattWiles its obvious really lol multiple failed tournaments poor negative tactics favouritism rather than picking on form. you cant keep using the argument of "yeah but we made two finals" yeah two finals and lost them both BOTH these last years England had the potential to go down as one of the most dominant national teams weve had easy draws and at the current time had better players than most top international sides due to losing their best players due to age. we fluffed every single opportunity to claim dominance its simple he was a sub par manager.
@@MattWileslet’s hear your theory on how he’s not? Deluded traditionalist 😂
Admiration for Pep who answers cleverly (and with some humour) to any questions he gets. Regardless of the question "quality". He knows his job, not only in the dugout.
Someone needs to go around all these pundits and ask them "Would they rather lose with a manager who is English than win with a manager that is foreign?"
That would be a great question, if we’d won the World Cup with a foreigner…until then, it’s not a valid question
@@free7816 tldr after the first sentence. It’s not valid, because it’s a made up hypothetical scenario that has never happened in the history of football. No country has ever won a World Cup with a foreign coach
Ill b honest id rather loose with a managment team developed in the country they are representing than win with another. Makes a mockory out of the idea if international teams otherwise
Why? Why don't you ask them at the same time if every nation had elite managers available who would they pick - they'd pick the home nation as thats what the competition is based on. Who cares? People can have separate opinions, you don't have to agree, or persist to make out one opinion can only be right. Pep understands, other foreigners undertsand and have the same notion. This isn't an English only mantra that's sprung out of no where. So no, it shouldn't need tk be asked on that basis alone. Who cares?
They will just say yes
“Mom and dad decide in certain moments” 🤣

Love Pep. Such a good human being.
As a Man Utd fan I absolutely love this man
Being a great Philosopher in his second (or third or forth) language..... Legend!
Living in other countries and places is so enriching and also it gives you an opportunity to experience the daily life of others. The collective experience that Pep has experienced gives him an objective voice I respect.
Yet he's a Catalan nationalist. Completely contradictory to his message here 😂
@@aldozilli1293 he’s not a nationalist. Watch his actions.
Well said - love that he reiterates that he is Catalonian and no matter the circumstances England deserves the best manager for the job and that is Tuchel right now. No one comes close and those judging don’t know what they want if they’ve an issue with this appointment. Support him, like you didn’t with Southagate, and that could be the difference in 2026
Your words have really changed my perception l had about you PEP.All the best and continual bringing smiles on people's faces though the beautiful game.

I love that Pep as he knows he is a beacon in the world and a representative for football speaks well about managers. Especially when it’s an unfair criticism.
PEP THE GOAT
Best speech ive heard.
He sliced through all the “ism’s” in that speech.
I 100% percent agree with him, I’m 31 years old and travelled all around the world… travel is the only thing you spend money on that makes you richer
Exactly! I’m a year younger and travelling has enriched my life in ways money could never satisfy.
Lovely speech from Pep. People should deeply think about what he says here. Lovely man. Gained even more respect from me.

Did u listen?
@@JiTiAr35 English is nationality
And France players
Anyone else bored with these lazy journalists? it's tedious .. no wonder a bright person like Pep gets frustrated.
true, same journalists hyping pep and mourinho as potential england managers became anti-foreign managers overnight
British media is senseless
It’s irrelevant where he is born or his nationality , it’s about how good he will be in the job and the experience he brings to the setup I couldn’t care less about his birthplace / nationality .
Do you feel the same way about the players as well?
@@airzee515 well I believe to play for a national team you should either be born there or have parents both to have been born there but no further than that
@@MarkMullins-g9g so you believe it's important for the players to be English but the manager is not relevant basically? Not relevant to the results like the players are?

Pep is a top quality manager and a top quality bloke that talks absolute sense. "The media" is packed full of negative arseholes, it's their jobs to be twats. Good luck Thomas and come on England!!
Thank you Pep. The English are full of themselves
After all the interview with other coaches, Pep is the most brilliant one and share his wisdom!!
He’s so cool!
I love the Tuchel appointment for England however I dont understand why it isnt mandatory in general for the manager of a national team to be also be of that nationality
England's got one of the best managers in the world happy days
"AND THE WINNERS🏆ARE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS/ LEVELLING UP!" ❤🇬🇧❤
With that mentality those traditionalist have. The PL would have never had a Pep a Jose mourinho a Wenger or a klopp
What? Not at all, that's a false equivalence. It's nothing to do with club football or traditionalists either. The competitons are not set on the same premise. You do realise the notion applies to the players right? It's literally the default position of the competition, of which Pep just said himself he understands. All one side once is saying is the manager should have the same requirements as the players do as it would make sense for the purpose of the competiton. That is all. It's really not in any way a big deal. To use an example outside the context of nation vs nation competition is a disingenuous comparison. I like Tuchel, but your example had to be called out as it's not accurate at all.
It's very strange people can't just understand the context of stance within the paraemters of the football tournament. It's irrelevant to anything else. Both sides need to calm down it's ridiculous trying to generalise and then try to assume peoples position relates to everything else, it's very narrow minded and unnecessary.
@Allegro_Giusto Why is it not? The prem is a English league is it not therefore shouldn't it be an all English affair? Don't pick and choose your arguments.
@Theemptythroneistaken People can pick and choose their arguments, you mean don't be hypocritical. It's a false equivalence again. It's called the English league because it's based in England and isn't set on the premise to be English only players. An international tournament IS set on the premise where nations best vs nations best compete, it's the whole point of the competition.. Some fans would prefer the manager to fall in line with the same requirements to represent as the players do, and there's merit in that because it makes sense. That's it, it's not a big deal, it's not about hating anyone, it's a logical preference within the competition. There is no golden right answer. Foreign countries and people have the same opinion too with their countries. This isn't an English only mantra, a new concept, or anything with bad connotations. Let each side be, its ok.
Just isn't the same.
@@Theemptythroneistakenclub football isn’t based around nationality.
Very classy response 👏
Pep isn't even trying to entertain some of these questions. Take the hint media.

Pep talks a lot of sense. We are in a global interconnected world. You can’t help where your born,
anglo-saxons are a germanic tribe. They are originally from germania. The english are germanic. its not like he is latin like the french, spanish, italian, or scandinavian nordics or the eastern european slavic peoples. At least tuchel is german which makes him part of the wider germanic tribes like the english.
Great speech!
Bravo Pep! Honestly!
Class from an elite manager
Pepe! Very graciously said
The thing is, I don't remember anyone celebrating Southgate for being English in the role. People were crying out for someone to take England to the next level. And now?
i wish the media would stop asking such ridiculous questions, they are not representing the public by steering the conversation into xenophobia rather than focusing on the football
It's not xenophobia fella
I love pep
Such a profound response
Fabio and Sven were great coaches too. It’s more about a bit of luck and your keeper and striker having a good tournament.
Carlo? I think you might mean Fabio.
Maybe we should bring in a Brazilian striker and Italian keeper?
football media are obsessed why ask pep a question like that.
Pep is Catalonian, NOT Spanish. He’s quite clear on that 😂
@@markfletton5901 some cornish people DO say that
@@markfletton5901 correct but that doesn't mean they don't feel English. Pep obviously doesn't feel Spanish, but Catalan. It's just not officially recognised even though they wanted an official vote years ago for independence
Like most people from Liverpool I suppose, they say they are scousers, most of them are not patriotic, it’s a culture thing I suppose, it’s the difference between how you feel and what you are, although of course it does not change the reality of what you are of course, remember paddy pimblett celebrating England losing? He’s English.. but identifies as Liverpudlian
It’s personal choice. I was born in Delhi and lived in UK for 12 years, but I say I’m a Delhiite rather than saying I’m a Brit or Indian. Does that mean I don’t consider myself as an Indian? Of course not.
PEP has better chances managing England and win something compared to Tuchel. Why?
Just imagine if England meet Germany in Final, what is the real mind of Tuchel nobody know but in term of Guardiola as Catalan he definitely want to take England to beat the Spanish because there is no Catalonia nation.
Seriously the same people keep saying they want to kick racism out of football then throw a hissy fit when the England job goes to a non English manager. The hypocrisy is unreal. Mad double standards.

Get rid of that flag
The only people making a big deal of it are the press. It's boring already
For someone who has been here 9 years, already speaks several languages, speaks English in his daily work, his English level is shocking.
Wise words from Pep here, we are just us.
Which means international football should be abolished, or they allow different nationalities to play for England.
@@jgmediting7770 by that logic clubs should only be allowed players and staff from their own town or city?
@@bhew7409 no, because club football is not based on nation against nation or city against city. It’s club against club.
The whole reason international football is a thing is because it’s a contest between nations.
That's a stupid point. The players also cannot help where they are born. If we don't want to have Country vs Country we should just stop international football.
Pep the goat
Beautiful reply we don’t choose the country we are born
Well Said and well explained by a world ambassador of our game
I don't really get the vitriol from either side. Both of the below arguments have good merit to them:
A - international football is the best of one country facing the best of another and it's a professional footballer's highest honour to represent his country. It'd be nice if that extended to the dugout as well, i.e. the nation's best manager leads the team and it's the pinnacle of his coaching career.
B - there's no rule against a foreign coach managing an international team and it allows for a country to get the absolute best available regardless of their passport. It works in other sports and the Lionesses have won a major tournament with a Dutch manager.
Is there really anything especially wrong or narrow-minded about either of those stances? I personally would rather we had A and go with an English manager, but I also fondly remember Sven's tenure back in the 2000s and wish Thomas Tuchel all the best in the role.
What a fella.
Man city must give this man another contract or bye bye to high standards in premier league
