    The media say there's been backlash about the Tuchel appointment, but the backlash came from the media not the fans themselves. The fans just react to what the media put out to the world and sometimes you get the stupid minority that agree with the media but deep down the only ones discriminating are the media

    • @dalegrant9282
      @dalegrant9282 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, the media are just businesses that need money to survive, they dont care about what's right. They care about surviving. Which means creating noise.

      At the end of the day we're paying off a German guy to get a trophy as we can't win one ourselves. It's a grave humiliation for the country and more fans should be aware of this.

      @Michael-ms6vr as German I have no problem with that as it is your country.
      @LewisCollins. To say that a stupid minority falls for the media's discrimination is generous towards the minority. Once the "stupid" agree with the media both sides are equally discriminatory. And is it really a minority? It seems English fans generally embrace Tuchel but it might flip if he fails brutally. Good luck with Tuchel 👍🏾

People can have separate opinions, you don't have to agree, or persist to make out one opinion can only be right. Pep understands, other foreigners undertsand and have the same notion. This isn't an English only mantra that's sprung out of no where. So no, it shouldn't need tk be asked on that basis alone. Who cares?

      @Allegro_Giusto 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      What? Not at all, that's a false equivalence. It's nothing to do with club football or traditionalists either. The competitons are not set on the same premise. You do realise the notion applies to the players right? It's literally the default position of the competition, of which Pep just said himself he understands. All one side once is saying is the manager should have the same requirements as the players do as it would make sense for the purpose of the competiton. That is all. It's really not in any way a big deal. To use an example outside the context of nation vs nation competition is a disingenuous comparison. I like Tuchel, but your example had to be called out as it's not accurate at all.
      It's very strange people can't just understand the context of stance within the paraemters of the football tournament. It's irrelevant to anything else. Both sides need to calm down it's ridiculous trying to generalise and then try to assume peoples position relates to everything else, it's very narrow minded and unnecessary.

      @Allegro_Giusto 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @Theemptythroneistaken People can pick and choose their arguments, you mean don't be hypocritical. It's a false equivalence again. It's called the English league because it's based in England and isn't set on the premise to be English only players. An international tournament IS set on the premise where nations best vs nations best compete, it's the whole point of the competition.. Some fans would prefer the manager to fall in line with the same requirements to represent as the players do, and there's merit in that because it makes sense. That's it, it's not a big deal, it's not about hating anyone, it's a logical preference within the competition. There is no golden right answer. Foreign countries and people have the same opinion too with their countries. This isn't an English only mantra, a new concept, or anything with bad connotations. Let each side be, its ok.

    I don't really get the vitriol from either side. Both of the below arguments have good merit to them:
    A - international football is the best of one country facing the best of another and it's a professional footballer's highest honour to represent his country. It'd be nice if that extended to the dugout as well, i.e. the nation's best manager leads the team and it's the pinnacle of his coaching career.
    B - there's no rule against a foreign coach managing an international team and it allows for a country to get the absolute best available regardless of their passport. It works in other sports and the Lionesses have won a major tournament with a Dutch manager.
    Is there really anything especially wrong or narrow-minded about either of those stances? I personally would rather we had A and go with an English manager, but I also fondly remember Sven's tenure back in the 2000s and wish Thomas Tuchel all the best in the role.
