One appeal of the Ogryn for new players is that being so tall gives you a better sightline of enemies around you. And helps you start recognizing what all the specialists and Elites look like. A lot of new players don't know why they suddenly lost all their toughness and health because they don't know what ragers and maulers look like
I'm fairly certain that Mister E. made this video not for console players per se but for himself. So that when he matchmade PlayStation players, they don't be such a nuisance.
As an Xbox player I’m not :-D But I have to say the difference on console (my platform) vs pc (played it a few times), PC is a whole different playstyle, let alone the learning curve. Looking forward to not being the worst person on the team while PS5 players learn the game
Been praying to the emperor himself, months before this game was actually announced to be released. Videos like these that I’ve been watching lately has been super helpful and beneficial and will allow me to have an amazing time with my buddies who are waiting for me to play tomorrow when released 💙
Really appreciate that these builds are actually build for end game play, rather than coddling our new PS5 siblings and teaching them bad habits. Great video.
Thank you for the Psyker build! I was getting bored of leveling with an Assail build, and this zappy build already works well enough at 15. Much more fun!
Great stuff man, this kinda gave me an idea for a video, i'm usually in 2 modes when playing: gaming mode which is basically for Auric with all the bells and whistles and tired after work mode which is just for damnation, in this last one i have a SoB build which uses the eviscerator and boltgun with a lot of emphasis on crits and ability cooldown and not much survivability since i'm not taking it to maelstrom or anything crazy, boltgun is built pretty much the same, designed to kill specialists and bosses and the big noisy sword for almost everything else, it can stop ragers (they get like stuck on light attacks with the eviscerator) anyways longstoryshort: it would be nice to have a vid about these kind of lazy, easy to use, don't-require-that-much-attention builds. Oh and a SoB themed video for a build would be also great, like that commissar build on the launcher (but actually usable). cheers! keep up the good work!
For the vet is the extra 10% damage reduction worth choosing.seems like there is a lot of damage reduction you can stack on the vet. There is also the 2 25 toughness nodes
Good video, good info! Videos and advice have been super helpful and given great value. Also was a fun game on Clandestium Gloriana.. Hah Belcher made the video!
Thanks for this awesome video! I started playing a few weeks ago, and this helps a lot. How did you get your thoughness, health and cooldown in the middle of the screen?
If you play on PC, you could configure it with different mods. For example "Custom HUD" mod give the opportunity to reorganize all UX elements on screen, so you could move it wherever you want.
You referenced it in the video but I certainly want to stress the duelling sword on controller isn’t a beginner friendly choice. The lack of stagger can be unforgiving for new players and accurate heavy headshots are really what put it above the rest. The video overall seems to gear towards people who have maxed a class and want to improve, not brand new people who want to understand how to build a character from level 1-15
1000% Agreed The class specific melees are probably a better option for controller imo as an alternative. Veteran's and Psyker's power sword and Zealot's eviscerator or thunder hammer More than anything I hope these new players don't become meta slaves, build variety in this game is certainly an issue, but there is still enough agency for you to use whatever you think is coolest. Glad someone else saw an issue with literally every class that is able to using the dueling sword. It's good but not THAT good
And the Zealot's throwing knives on controller can be a miserable experience for the same reasons. Stun Grenades are great at low level play. Fire Grenades too at those low difficulties since they'll actually kill.
@ZappBranniglenn as a console player who frequently runs Auric Maelstroms it's not so bad, dueling sword is verry easy to use, throwing knives do admittedly suck with a normal controller but if you have one with extra buttons to map to it's an easy fix (I'm using a Wolverine V2 for anyone curious, it's a fucking life saver) and final thing I want to say is for the love of God tweak the settings, the games base settings for gameplay are absolute trash, set the deadzone as low as possible, turn off acceleration, and double the sensitivity bare minimum and the it feels like a completely different game. I cannot stress how bad the base settings are for quick reactions
Do you have a video covering recommendations for graphics settings to help the game run/perform best? Possibly also mouse and keyboard keybindings? As a completely new PC and M&K player this may be useful.
I played the first year of darktide on PC, the second year on Xbox (controller) only, which i enjoy a lot more nowadays (i used to be a PC only player). And yes, the Duelling Sword is and was (Psyker main) one of my favorite weapons. It is really not that hard to use on controller as you make it sound. I found aiming long range for persistent headshots with some weapons more challenging, but most things come very close to you anyway in this game 😅 Also, i play games to relax, not for competitive levels. And all the funny conversations and discussions of the characters make me laugh every time and having a good time. Other than that, i enjoy your videos and streams 👍🏼.
@@firstlast2206 I am PC gamer since about 40 years (good old Comodore and Amiga ...), stadia was just, where I was using a controller more and got into that input device. Especially, as you could swap in game on the fly. And by the way, gaming with stadia in a browser was technically just PC gaming from an input perspective (keyboard and mouse or controller).
Ps5 gang right here I can't wait to get into the game and I already know I'm wanting to try do a slab shield ogryn first but I also feel like going krieg soldier with the veteran. 😉
Yo so stoked that it's finally going to be on PS5! In your honest opinion how would you rank these beginner builds in order from best to worst? Thanks! 👍
Will you be posting these builds on a builds site? Would love to use them and not have to come back to this video every time when I want to build my character while leveling them up
We don’t want to spend any points on our kickback because its not our primary source of damage. Best to save the point, kickback does plenty without 15% extra.
Dog can we not recommend Dueling Sword to new players? Especially console players do not need a high precision single target melee as their first weapon. Give them something consistent with sweeps like a D Claw or a Shovel. Hell even a Thunder Hammer or Eviscerator would be easier. Idk man just a thought.
Can the next video in capitals be DONT RUN WOUND CURIOS. Always last alive and just not got enough behind my belt to move in Auric. I’ve only been playing less than a month and maxed veteran and zealot from watching you and tanner big love Mr E && Tanner
@ I play auric only now if I go down a difficulty it’s not enough. My gripe is people running 3 wound curios and doing absolutely nothing for the team poor regen on abilities poor toughness. Soon as I see more than 4 wounds I know they going down first and helping last.
As far as I understand, Auric and regular Damnation isn't actually different in base difficulty. It's just that that Auric never has low-intensity modifiers and always at least one increased difficulty modifier. So if you can handle high-intensity or shocktroop gauntlet on normal Damnation and Heresy respectively, you can handle it on Auric as well. It might even be easier, since your teammates tend to be more skilled/experienced. I'm starting to get my feet wet in Auric recently and high-intensity auric don't feel too rough compared to regular damnation, playing on a familiar build. You can start to get familiarized by avoiding the high-intensity shocktroop gauntlet to begin with. Those is a bit above my personal skill ceiling for the moment.
Remember, we don’t have the Scoreboard mod, at least on xbox, so i have no idea how i’m doing other than am i going down and am i contributing to kills of named enemies. I also don’t care as long as I don’t suck and my team succeeds.
Well these buillds are intended to keep you from sucking and going down, even if you cant numerically tell your damage you will feel the power so to speak
The only issue is blades of faith feels horrible on the controller lol. By default its mapped on the d-pad on Xbox which is super cumbersome. I'm assuming it will be the same on the PS5.
I heard, the game is poorly optimized for amd. How bad is it now? Is it worth to buy and try (considering the fact that I live in Russia and refund can be problematic)? Thanks for your amazing content!

Not a big fan of the staff for this build. For the same build Purgatus and Trauma just offer so much more than Surge, which WILL struggle a lot against mixed Hordes in this setup, even when macroing at head level. Also mass elites start to become annoying with this.
who needs to quell when you've got shriek? with warp siphon and the special density in auric you can legit get away with this. especially vs hunting grounds where you can take out as many dogs as can fit on the screen in one shriek your cooldown will be back immediately. Though tbf psyker is not Mr E's forte. If it were he'd be running gunker ;)
@@TheRealSykx In the same turn I could say "Why do you need the few dot percent of Warp Resist when you've got shriek?" If you go even further with the autism you could say "Quellspeed helps Toughness Regen" while "Warp Resist lowers Toughness Regen."
