Great gig in the sky is a dear song to my heart. Each time I hear Clare's voice, I can't stop crying. And that instrument made me cry just as hard as Clare. Dylan, I had no idea who you were before, but you've gained a new admirer!
As a fan who saw Pink Floyd live in 1994 and been a lifelong fan...this was incredible to watch. Made me wonder if Derek Trucks ever thought of doing this! This song is a masterpiece!
What makes this tribute so incredible is that it makes you feel like you're hearing the song for the first time again. I've watched/listened to it multiple times now and each time I hear something new and inspiring.
I’m very happy that Dylan is getting exposed to larger audiences lately. He absolutely deserves to be a successful musician. He’s honestly a generational talent and it’s so nice to see him being recognized. Rhett is actually a pretty solid player himself. I’d never really heard him play in a full band setting like this and he definitely impressed me. The rhythm section held it down tremendously as well. Great tribute to the mighty Pink Floyd.
Totally agree with this whole breakdown, The whole band crushed this! Not for the faint of heart to take such an iconic piece, honor the original, while making it their own in an elevated way. I completely agree that the trading off of complementary guitar riffs made this song a very magical version! Watched it as it premiered on @RhettShull channel and felt like I had just witnessed that first-time launch of a new rocket! 👏👏👏
Since this came out a couple of days ago on Rhett's channel I have been doing as much of dive into Dylan as I can. What a player!!! Thank you so much for this breakdown.
I really gotta say, the more I hear it the more I love it. When you have such a tremendous lead player, people often overlook how great the rhythm section is (especially a rhythm guitar part) creating this vast accompaniment to push the lead. It is really something magical.
Wow,that took me back to a beer run at midnight, from FtCollins, co. over into Kansas in 1975 (3.2 beer in Kansas.) at 17yo. Listening to this on a Quadrophonic 8-track!
Good lord you’re old! I did pretty much the same except I was in Thailand. And had to go off base for the good stuff. Well… okay it wasn’t the same. 🤣😂
It was amazing.....DSOTM and Echos are my desert albums as well. This made the hair stand up on the back of my neck......it was so good. Brought tears to my eyes.....
Agree DSotM is my desert island album as well. Watched Rhett and his band kill this song. Dylan Adam blew me away. Thanks for highlighting this video!!
I was bout to burn all my guitars before Dylan even finished. And I didnt even get to listen to Rhetts work on this on my first listen. Great work and the burning guitars helped in the cold winter (y)
@Michael Palmisano - Yes !! -- Thanks for breaking this down. It's amazing. And I wholeheartedly agree that 'filthy' the exact correct description. @Dylanadamsguitar has perfectly channeled Clare and the whole essence of the original at an untouchable level. I am also absolutely impressed at the precision of @Philipconradmusic on the bass and Chad Collins on the drums. No click, and both of them just PERFECT in their roles of keeping the pocket padlock tight. Mad, mad props to @RhettShull for putting together this masterclass of musicianship. I am absolutely convinced that forevermore, this is THE DEFINITIVE cover of Great Gig In The Sky that all others will have to compare to. And I don't see it being eclipsed.
Michael! Use the K key instead of the space bar. It will change your life! J and L also skip back and forward 10 seconds. You have introduced me to so many amazing artists over the years, but this might be one of my favorites. Thank you for doing what you do!
For those wondering, Rhett's playing a "Coodercaster"(named after Ry Cooder). There's a great channel called "Waterslide Guitars" here on YT fro m a guy that makes them, often with B and/or G bedners, as well. Very cool toys that use a lapsteel pup in the bridge and usually a gold foil in the neck.
Its a Novo Idris that I did with Dennis, originally it was supposed to be a Cooder caster but we couldn’t get the bridge pickup to sound right, so we decided to go with two gold foils instead, and the guitar is much better for it! -Rhett
If you’re a Floyd fan, listen to Van Morrison almost Independence Day from 1972, you’ll hear it right away. Floyd used the same licks on there 1975 hit. Gilmore said if he likes something he hears he’ll borrow it. Hint both songs used a 12 string.
Well made! Is it just me, or do we hear some clear inspiration between Dylan and Mark Lettieri, or vice versa? Especially "Can't Wait for Perfect (ft. Mark Lettieri) - Bob Reynolds Guitar Band" When Lettieri solo part is introduced?
@Guitargate great review, seen this on Rhetts channel. hey check out: Oz Noy, Andrew Synowiec, Hadrien Feraud, Marvin "Smitty" Smith live at the Baked Potato 2022 , GREAT LIVE PLAYING, SOUND, ECT. PERFECT VIBE
The second you start talking about the 2 chord & 5 chord I totally zone out.... It's me not you. But, I'd love to understand wtf you're talking about more often. @8:11
Check Out ''Greta Van Fleet'', such a breath of fresh air in modern day industry. Killer riffs and vocals, "When the curtain falls" would be a good place to start. Love the energy and excitement in your videos.
Thanks for featuring the video man! That really means a lot, and we have a few more featuring Dylan coming soon!
Fantastic work.
Fantastic production Rhett. This performance is approaching The Main Squeeze levels of awesomeness, if not matching it.
We need a channel cross over plaese
Just magnificent
Amazing groove and sound Rhett. Can't wait to hear more!!
Dude!!!! Can’t thank you enough for this awesome breakdown and for the kind words man, made my day 🙏🏻🙏🏻 definitely hit me up next time you’re in Jax!
Dude that was sick. Great chops
Duane Allman would be proud.
Great work Dylan! But that’s what I’ve come to expect from a good ole South Georgia boy 😂
goood laaaaawd that tone! Killed that dude!
This will go down as one of the great guitar performances of our time. You made history with this performance!!
Thanks so much for watching and the support! I was the bass player in the video; backing up Dylan and Rhett was a joy ⚡️
Fantastic playing. Is that a Mustang?
Absolutely killed it. All of you. So so damn freaking good. I'm sure that was a rush.
and you killed it
Great playing, my friend!
@@markmm1066it’s the cheapest bronco bass squier makes and he modded the hell out of it. He has a video about it on his channel
let's give a little love to the drummer too...such a sweet groove, holding it all down with that bass player, allowing those guitars to soar.
I came here to say that. Fabulous rhythm section.
Respect to the drummer for keeping that time on lock.

Exactly what I thought!
Not anymore 🎸
What makes this tribute so incredible is that it makes you feel like you're hearing the song for the first time again. I've watched/listened to it multiple times now and each time I hear something new and inspiring.
I'd go so far as to say this isn't a cover, it's a tribute. Simply amazing!
Finally, Michael! Thanks for putting the spotlight on Dylan!
that's my boy way to go Dylan!
Had just watched this video today myself and was blown away by Dylan's slide playing!! OUTSTANDING!!!
That run he does starting at 3:50 is perfection...beautiful! 👍
You mirrored my pure joy at hearing this for the first time. Just Wow!

Thank you so much for this breakdown.
I literally watched this and saw michael get goose bumps. I thought he was going to cry with how beautiful this was

I can’t get enough of Dylan Adams, he really has been blowing me away.
Has to be some of the best slide playing I’ve ever seen/heard - a real masterclass…
I don't think I've ever watched someone's picking hand as much as this guy. I love the way he's attacking these notes. It's perfect!
I’m in absolute awe…this is amazing
Guy has some serious brass to even try this on slide. Did his own thing while nailing Claire's voicing. 💯
Dylan will go down in history as a slide god….i have no doubts about it.
Happy new year!!! And Dylan is totally amazing! I watched Rhett’s vid and was blown away! He literally takes my breath away.
I’ve been watching this cover on repeat since it came out 😂 its so good 🔥
Wow,that took me back to a beer run at midnight, from FtCollins, co. over into Kansas in 1975 (3.2 beer in Kansas.) at 17yo. Listening to this on a Quadrophonic 8-track!

Love the “I’m not afraid of dying, any time will do” reference.
Dylan is unbelievable... Like you, I found out about him after Rhett talked about him and have been a fan ever since.
Beautiful phrasing and dynamic control. Yes
Excited for Rhett's new series. It's the rock equivalent of Emmet's Place.
Listening on headphones really brings out the master quality of engineering and production in Rhett’s video. KILLER instrumentation on all fronts.
I watched this when it released, and had the same reaction! That slide! That band! Nailed it. Hoping to hear more like this Rhett!
the rhythm section is just...*chef's kiss*
Thumbs up for the playing in the video. Another thumbs up for Michael’s reaction. Great stuff!!
It was amazing.....DSOTM and Echos are my desert albums as well. This made the hair stand up on the back of my neck......it was so good. Brought tears to my eyes.....

“Listen to more Pink Floyd and good things will happen in your life.” 🙌🙌🙌
OMG!!!!!!! Goosebumps!!
I got a lesson from Dylan, he’s a smart dude, and seems both methodical and inspired in how he plays
Thanks for this one. Ive had it on repeat since it came out. Amazing interpretation
absolutely amazing what a cover!!!!!!!!!
This cover is my favorite of all time.
Man im so glad you picked this one out! I was trying to play it on otamtone and havin a rough time
I was bout to burn all my guitars before Dylan even finished. And I didnt even get to listen to Rhetts work on this on my first listen. Great work and the burning guitars helped in the cold winter (y)
All I can say is HOLY CRAP! That was awesome
My jaw was dropped the entire time. SO GOOD.. Well done gentlemen! 🤤

“Fuck it were going up here”
Might be my favorite way to describe live jamming with my band from here on out 😂
Michael! Use the K key instead of the space bar. It will change your life! J and L also skip back and forward 10 seconds.
You have introduced me to so many amazing artists over the years, but this might be one of my favorites. Thank you for doing what you do!
, and . skip back & forward by a frame when video is paused. Also very useful.
Wow to think this hasn’t been done before is crazy. This was very cool.
I think we all shouted YES when that kicked in 😂
Dillion’s right hand mute game is on point.
Shout out to Phillip and Chad for holding it down so well. Great great rhythm section.
Wicked Awesome 💯🎸🔥
Holy shi……! That was freaking awesome🤘
4:18… did No Doubt sample this exact part for Dont Speak?! If not I swear that’s what I’m hearing even if just for a few seconds..

@@RhettShull Ah-ha! The ol' switch-a-roo. Check out the @WaterslideGuitars channel. He has some amazing Coodercasters and other funky hybrids. Cheers!
Happy new year!
Dylan rips!
I can hear Rhett adding some Any Colour You Like - "color" in there
I too !!!
love how you gave up playing and just enjoy it
If you’re a Floyd fan, listen to Van Morrison almost Independence Day from 1972, you’ll hear it right away. Floyd used the same licks on there 1975 hit. Gilmore said if he likes something he hears he’ll borrow it. Hint both songs used a 12 string.
Awesome!
So glad I’ve got an iPad Pro. 4 speakers, good range. ❤️
Sooooooo GOOD!
lol literally just watched the video and i was like bet mike reacts to this cause it is so good
Rhett is usually more delicate in his playing but he’s really going aggressive in this one. Is it the song? That guitar? Great cover anyhow
They hit that frequency dead on in that moment
Hey bud Happy New Year!
Well made! Is it just me, or do we hear some clear inspiration between Dylan and Mark Lettieri, or vice versa?
Especially "Can't Wait for Perfect (ft. Mark Lettieri) - Bob Reynolds Guitar Band" When Lettieri solo part is introduced?
Totally beautiful slide playing and fuzzy goodness 🤩 Filthy!!!
Imagine playing this at school!
damm seeing this thumbnail made me hype🤙two youtubers i enjoy watching in one video? say less
Rhett has great TH-cam channel
He definitely has
@Guitargate great review, seen this on Rhetts channel. hey check out: Oz Noy, Andrew Synowiec, Hadrien Feraud, Marvin "Smitty" Smith live at the Baked Potato 2022 , GREAT LIVE PLAYING, SOUND, ECT. PERFECT VIBE
6:05 sounds like No Doubt lol
He definitely made that guitar sing
The space bar won't work to pause TH-cam when the cursor is hovering over the bar.
clare torry SANG it.
That was fucking amazing!
Tilly did a good job with the camera!
Rhett's band reminds me of Marin Miller's band....Just killer.
Hell yea.
Guy is ridiculous. Inspiring
I know the source videos are easy to find but odd that Michael has no link unless I've missed it.
Why did nobody else think of doing that in the last 50 years ?
Are you featuring people playing PRS guitars?
Great video…..
Are you from North Carolina?
Ooooooh. What are your three desert albums?
For me:
1. Pink Floyd: Dark side of the moon
2. Beatles: Abbey Road
3. Led Zeppelin: The song remains the same
The second you start talking about the 2 chord & 5 chord I totally zone out.... It's me not you. But, I'd love to understand wtf you're talking about more often.
@8:11
Whats really crazy is I believe Clare was pregnant when she did this solo riff on DSOTM....
I've never seen Anything Like It. Mind Blown.
This is weird. I was on a Clare Torry Great GIg in the sky trip for the last few days and here you are with this. Weird.
Can you react to Mateus Asato ? Don’t dream it’s over (best live version)
One big regret… I’ve never seen David Gilmore perform live in person
Check Out ''Greta Van Fleet'', such a breath of fresh air in modern day industry.
Killer riffs and vocals, "When the curtain falls" would be a good place to start.
Love the energy and excitement in your videos.
God damn that's tasty!
