I think the reason why so many of these pictures seem familiar is because they are ambiguous enough to make the majority of people think they have seen it before. I also think these pictures are so relatable because of people seeing something like them in the past, and losing memory of what they really saw, which makes them believe that they really saw what was in the picture. Maybe not the same colors or position, but still the same concept. For example, one picture could have a red triangle on the side of a restaurant, and someone could have seen a pink triangle in the frontside of a building 5 years ago. These scenes are related enough for the person to think that they have seen the one in the picture.
Dutch person here, I was like 'no, no, no, so American, no no' and then suddenly 2:21 which has a bike path and buildings that any mid size Dutch city could have
@Lu Carvalho same, I’m spanish and that one was probably the one that felt most familiar to me, it reminded me of the corn field that used to be in front of my uncle’s house

Does that really mean that everyone remembers things kind of the same way? There's a thing where some people memorize things with the same mistakes(like the fort logo and etc.). So do out brains fr memorize how airports/swimming pools/birthday party buildings look the same way ?
I've heard in psychology, our brains can make approximate so to speak, of what a kind of room or structure is meant to look like, so the more similar and engineered our collective unconscious and cultural memory becomes, I suppose that coalesces, too.
Liminal space especially good ones usually have some of these characteristics - poor lighting - low picture quality - absence of people - out of place - off focus, not in terms of camera focus but the focus of a subject, often times feeling like the picture taken isn't focused onto any subject with intention, and that the subject of focus is missing -mildly human design but questionable placement of objects or structures, like furnitures placed by someone pretending to be human, or to imitation of an environment with human activities - obscurity, with spaces that are obviously hidden from sight but makes you aware of its presence and its potential volume - spacially tangible, with structures that most people with experience of modern society have seen before, and provocative on making you imagine being in that space
The point of a liminal space is to evoke feeling of nostalgia and sadness by having it be a location someone has been before But also an eerie or creepiness hidden underneath, Exp. No people, Abandoned, Flooded, Empty, etc. That is what I think makes a good liminal space
Reminds me of a time when I was in a Bike Trip with my father through Belgium. There was this small paved area that lead into two paths. I took the wrong way without knowing before my father told me. I expected it to lead into a piece of scenery or to a side of a road. It didn’t, the paved path just ended at a complete halt and my mind just froze, like, what the fuck just happened? Why am I freaking out about this? I was then promptly reminded about the second path my father way already going through, and went on my day. *ps. If you read this far, I hope you have a good day

Don't like hospitals man 44- I swear that looks like the hallway to where I got xrays once 45- Oh no is that one of those corridors that helps you get onto a plane? 46- Literally cannot comprehend this 47- I think this is some sort of mall, I've been to one similar to this 48- Old people house 49- Why is the floor wet on this one
I’m so convinced that first one is a real place that I actually know, it’s so generic but i feel like i pass it in the car when ever we drive home from my Grandparents
This song reminds me of old-school Christmas songs... which reminds me of a smaller me waking up to Christmas jingles every day a week before Christmas as we decorated our house, made cake, and me waiting for my presents. Back then I was excited about little things but then adulthood happened and I got a lot more busier than ever but then I realise once I grow old I will enjoy the little things I may have missed now (If I don't get dementia)
I love this kind of stuff! ❤️ Which I consider Art 🎨 because beyond being any photograph, one always has the idea and the feeling of TRANSFORMING usual things, giving them a completely different and magical twist! ✨ And what was changed, now has a point, a personality, a way of being! that connects with what is a fantastic reality, which only comes from a simple but viably valuable photograph 🎨🖼️
The photos with this song makes me feel like there's a mystery behind them, mostly because the photos have no persons, which makes it sound like a horror movie. Very disturbing feeling
0:20, I've always hated the sun but, the smell of fresh cigarette smoke and an empty droning noise emits from this image. The sunlight, I can quite picture in interior of the house, in the day, its bright but, one room is still dark with no windows and at night, due to lack of light pollution, you can see the stars. many feelings come from here but, oddly enough, one of mine is fear.
Anemoia: Nostalgic feeling of something you've never actually witnessed. It's wierd how our brain can make us think that we once were there.... or, maybe we were there and it's all just a burning memory...
0:26 Oh my god The wall The floors The celling The small little window It remind me of what my home looked like Before we moved Jesus Christ I’m literally crying at this That was literally my childhood home

Liminal space especially good ones usually have some of these characteristics
- poor lighting
- low picture quality
- absence of people
- out of place
- off focus, not in terms of camera focus but the focus of a subject, often times feeling like the picture taken isn't focused onto any subject with intention, and that the subject of focus is missing
-mildly human design but questionable placement of objects or structures, like furnitures placed by someone pretending to be human, or to imitation of an environment with human activities
- obscurity, with spaces that are obviously hidden from sight but makes you aware of its presence and its potential volume
- spacially tangible, with structures that most people with experience of modern society have seen before, and provocative on making you imagine being in that space
The point of a liminal space is to evoke feeling of nostalgia and sadness by having it be a location someone has been before

26- I swear I've been in that EXACT hotel room in cape cod, I can almost smell the spray-on sunblock
27- Another train station?
28- Doesn't click, looks like an album cover
29- That looks like a parking lot and why is it flooded
30- I don't like that
31- What the fuck that looks like a room in my sisters house
32- Don't like this one either
33- Looks like another hotel I think
34- That looks really weird
35- What the fuck is that it looks like a really obscure office building
36- Claustrophobic
37- This just seems like somebodys room nothing weird here
38- Oooh looks like home depot
39- That looks like a school and I don't like schools, also don't like how it's blurred
40- That looks like it's literally underground
41- That's definitely that outdoor place at walmart, I used to go to those with my grandma wile she looked at flowers I think
42- I hate that waiting room
43- That looks like a hospital and I just. Don't like hospitals man
44- I swear that looks like the hallway to where I got xrays once
45- Oh no is that one of those corridors that helps you get onto a plane?
46- Literally cannot comprehend this
47- I think this is some sort of mall, I've been to one similar to this
48- Old people house
49- Why is the floor wet on this one
I agree with you on #20 100%! This looks like my High School back when I was in Florida. It was my freshman year.
41 is actually a home depot
The light green signs and the ceiling gave it away
This song sounds like a bedtime song whenever I was tired.
I adore how the music makes want to go back to a time that I haven’t lived.
1:04
iv only been to the London underground 1 time but boy did i INSTANTLY recognise it
I’m so convinced that first one is a real place that I actually know, it’s so generic but i feel like i pass it in the car when ever we drive home from my Grandparents
This song gives the feeling of 'I did it! i did it! i... did it... i really just did it... what have i done...'
If you turn down real quiet it sounds like it’s playing in the air outside 💀💀
I think this is one of if not the best songs to play for liminal space
1:23 I could swear on god that i saw this in one of my dreams
@jasp04 Dude, I think I was with my mom too in my dream
@jasp04Maybe in the dream, I go out of the pool, and then we see other people getting out of the pool .
I am going to buy a hotel and play this through the P.A. system.
It really really does bewilder me
i lived most of my childhood in these spaces
The photos with this song makes me feel like there's a mystery behind them, mostly because the photos have no persons, which makes it sound like a horror movie. Very disturbing feeling
imagine noclipping in the backrooms and instead of weird buzzing noises, all you hear is this
0:20, I've always hated the sun but, the smell of fresh cigarette smoke and an empty droning noise emits from this image. The sunlight, I can quite picture in interior of the house, in the day, its bright but, one room is still dark with no windows and at night, due to lack of light pollution, you can see the stars. many feelings come from here but, oddly enough, one of mine is fear.
It feels so Warm, yet so Cold
OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THIS , the image at 0:44 is my grandmas guest bedroom before she moved in
Anemoia: Nostalgic feeling of something you've never actually witnessed.
It's wierd how our brain can make us think that we once were there.... or, maybe we were there and it's all just a burning memory...
I wanna go to each one of those pictures
I can’t escape the party room
0:26 Oh my god
The wall
The floors
The celling
The small little window
It remind me of what my home looked like
Before we moved
Jesus Christ
I’m literally crying at this
That was literally my childhood home
i feel like if i were in a liminal space it would no longer feel like a liminal space. like there isn't supposed to be anyone there, and when there is it just completely defeats the purpose
0:21 Damn, this is so artificial
0:25 that’s literally my apartment in Germany
Wait. Really?
That couch keeps popping in and out of my life.
