This recipe is incredible! I added white beech mushroom, white onion, green zuchini, and oyster mushroom to be more filling. I also used yellowtail snapper. And instead of mirim or sake I used vinegar and it is bomb! Delicous!
There is nothing better then spicy fresh seafood at the beach and a cold beer. That makes everything taste so much better . I enjoying watching you cook so much and the vibe of that you seem to really enjoy what your doing .
My mom didn't eat meat but i like her to try korean dish thats why i searched in youtube and saw this.. then i tried copying maangchi recipe and im happy that my mom liked it and ask me to cook korean food again for her❤❤

Keeping dried anchovies in her purse.....LOL. Must be a Korean thing. I grew up in the U.S since 6 so no anchovies but ask me for any condiment, I have it in my purse especially all kin’s of hot sauce. Now I’m 50 and learning Korean cooking, Maanchi I love you. My mother had no patience but now learning that it’s not as hard as she made it appear!!!
I love this recipe, and I'm definitely saving it for next year when I go fishing (lake's icing over now) - this will work perfectly with fresh pike! We don't have those handy pouches or affordable cheesecloth where I live, so I use ladies' white nylon ankle socks as pouches in a similar fashion - just disinfect them first by rinsing with boiling water! They're surprisingly sturdy and reusable, too.
if you don't have the pouch it is okay not to use it at all. in Korea we don't really use any. it just needs little more time to pick the anchovies up later, or also it is okay to leave them be. :)
Anchovy broth isn't necessary. Shitty anchovies makes soup taste awful. Just prepare green leeks, garlic and daikon radish and korean chili paste with the gutted fish you want to cook with.

I reduced the spices and took rice vinegar instead and also oyester sauce because I didn’t have fish sauce, and this is the best fish soup I have ever made. It tastes so good!

Looked similar to the Tupperware brand of "burger holders" I could be wrong but the way they stacked and only had the one cover is the same as I put my premade burgers into the freezer with
oh, I didn't know many of you are so curious about the tupperware! : ) They are available online at Amazon amzn.to/2JFeyS7 Actually they are used to store hamburgers in the USA but I found out they are very convenient to keep a individual serving of rice or some side dishes in the fridge. They are especially useful when I go on a picnic. A Korean friend of mine showed them to me years ago, I've been using them ever since!
This is my favorite Korean dish. I eat it as a calibration test at any Korean restaurant that serves it. If the maeuntang is good at a restaurant then usually everything else on the menu is good!

Wow. Looks so delicious. Now, add tamarind sauce, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves in the stew and it will become an authentic south Indian fish gravy. Of course there is no fermented bean paste in it. Coconut milk is optional. How to eat, take a nice and large banana leaf and wash it. Put rice in the middle and pour the gravy over it. Mix with hand and eat with hand. Wow Mangchi. You are great.
