Fully agree... Not an easy decision to make but if you had the balls to make that decision return the money to the players who gave it to you because you promised the game will be off-mode & drm free
Approximately 20-25 refunds in 25 days and they are not full refunds. Check out kickstarter backers page - I lost so much respect for FD after seeing how they handled this. They won't be seeing any of my hard earned cash.

Can someone help answer why lately, as of the new update, my keyboard and mouse have been acting completely wonky. First off my mouse doesn't even work and the keyboard don't respond to the ship, at all. I mean my keyboard and mouse are fine when I play other games, except for ED. This is very bizarre. I tried the controls setting but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
Ticket it. Make sure the devs know about the issue. While waiting for them to get around to it, you could try reinstalling drivers, installing updates you have, and double check all your keybindings in game. Whenever they add new keybindings, there is a chance your old ones get screwed up. There is a fair chance none of that will work, but you never know. Worst case, you could try deleting the file that contains your keybindings, and regenerate it. You should probably try and get a hold of another keyboard and mouse to see if the issue is localized to just that hardware, or if Elite isn't detecting any kind of keyboard. Corded, simpler kb/m setups would probably be best for that.
They got some updates for bindings, and in result some bindings got reset (including mine). I just remapped them, but you can ticket this if you want to make sure it doesn't happen again in future.

Just bought Elite Dangerous and waiting for it to install. I may dislike it but I wanted to give it a try. What I want to know is what is so different about No Mans sky that is garnering so much praise when Elite Dangerous seems to do the same thing?
Oh, lovely. No offline. A "living changing, online universe." Great. More stuff for the kids with nothing else to do but playing games. I loved Elite and especially Elite: Frontier. This one I've been looking forward to for twenty years. Now I am afraid it'll be thank you and goodbye, Mr. Braben.
Sadly I'm not going to buy ED because of that online-only, partially because of the principle and partially because of the tech reasons. I never wanted an MMO only game, don't want/care about other people in the game, and I especially don't like his main reason for doing it. Because that ever-changing story is great if you play the thing from the beginning, but if you get into it at some point in time it won't be the same meaning you will miss some of it. If you won't miss anything because things repeat then there is no reason for it to be online-only, you could script a lot of things to happen. If it is instanced, again no need for it to be online. Well, maybe his next game...
That bit at the end about the story sounds very nice. I've been playing for about a week now (not so much I know) and I'm reading everything but I haven't encountered any of it yet ! Either they are making a great story for themselves and it's not actually reaching the players or I haven't been playing in the right part of the universe. Don't get me wrong, I love this game so far. No lag yet. I really hope they can keep that up ! Great graphics, the environment is awesome and I the feeling of immersion is unprecedented, even when playing on my laptop. I can't wait for the consumer version of the Occulus Rift to come out ! But as far as story goes ???? You can sell slave or bring the info about slavers to somebody else when you get a message saying that what you are doing is wrong. Or bring food to in response to a board announcement that tells you someone is starving, but so far I had no indication of who they really are, why they are starving or who I am really helping if I report the slavers instead of making the delivery. Other then the slaves themselves of course. As of right now it's just trading without the proper tools because your year 3000+ computer can't even remember the market prices in the stations you've already visited lol Fighting, not too much, you are pretty weak when you start and exploring which for me is the best part. Even as is, with all it's fault, the game is great. Give me some proper trading tools and i'll consider it awesome. If the story actually becomes as involving as Mr. Braben makes it sound. I'll say my farewell to this world and live solely in Elite :)

It amazes me that in 2014 a game dev can create a multiplayer focused game and leave out major tools that bring players together. This dude designed games in the 90's and that's where he remains.
did you play gamma 2? Imo it WOULD have been disappointing if released as it was prior to gamma 2 update. Now its a real dynamic galactic power struggle of factions - just what i'd hoped and just what they always said it would be.

I'm not saying elite is bad, just that there wasn't a game changing feature added in gamma 2 that wasn't already in gamma 1. Well, maybe route planning. That was desperately needed.
Invader Gir That's not what he said. Did you read the patch notes? Trading with factions has been overhauled over the course of the gamma. Now it makes a difference when you continually trade with a specific faction. Missions are a lot more dynamic in this way as well. It hasn't reached its full potential yet, but the galaxy is totally ready for release.
You wanna see disappointing go try out/support/back Star Citizen like I/do have. I support both games equally but bloody hell Star Citizen is lagging behind and is borderline unplayable with the motion blur that's in it. Don't get me wrong tho I freakin love Star Citizen and want it to succeed so so bad along with Elite:Dangerous as well but there entirely to focused on this arena commander business that only a hand full of people care for. People want all the big flashy stuff they talked about like big ass ships and the persistent universe. I'm not even gonna get into how much of a disappointment it is they charge multi hundreds of real work dollars for in games ships.

You say they are entirely focused on arena commander? do a little research and you will find they are also working on the FPS and planet side modules, multi crew/capital ships and also the Squadron 42 campaign. After all that shit there is the persistent universe. "People want all the flashy stuff like big ass ships and the PU" people also want the FPS module and planetside stuff and want to be able to explore, chart jump points, drive rovers on planets and board ships then steal the cargo as well. what's your point? Yes, there is no denying that some pay to win exists in the game at the moment. It has been said multiple times that you will be able to earn all the ships in the game and that the ships will no longer be for sale after release. You are not required to buy a multi hundred dollar ship right now in order to enjoy the game when it is released, and CR has said he doesn't want it to be a major grind fest in order to earn a ship. CIG selling ships is just a way to get more money for the game so that it can become better and last longer. When the Javelin destroyers were on sale it was made clear that they were not military grade and had been stripped of all their weapons and that organizations would have to put a lot of effort and money into getting them fixed up and all that jazz.
I've just read on the internet that there will no longer be a single player offline mode for Elite Dangerous. I am hugely disappointed, as this was not pointed out when Frontier took my start up money. I think Frontier have made a catastrophic error as there are not actually very many people who possess an internet connection that will be fast enough to play the game. I will be out of pocket to the tune of around £100 since I pledge for the kick start, and then did a top up and order the boxed game as well. How about giving back my money??????

You removed the feature to play offline at the last minute??? Mr. Braben, if you think it is not in an acceptable condition for a single player offline game, then why dont you see to it that it is so in later patches, such as with main storyline of some sort (and if it does not already have, possibly some side missions also as added bonus). That is what today is enough to make games acceptable to most people who have no internet connection and/or dont want to play mmo & multiplayer games.

He forgot to mention all the lies, misleading shit in the latest trailers etc that they spew around. Game has no content. The mmo aspect is missing completely. PVP wont happen because most people are carebears playing in their own Online-Singleplayer (kind of private) sessions and you wont encounter other players frequently like you do in EVE Online. And you cant PVP outside stations like the trailers suggest.. and warping takes forever, they're masked loading screens.

Keyboard is actually really easy if you change the controls to A+D being roll instead of yaw...

You dont need to get used to finding keys or buttons with the oculus on all you need to do is speek with voice attack.

You can supercruise to your friends already. It's very rough, and FD will release proper wings support early next year, but you can play co-op.

Well, if you like EVE... go play EVE? I haven't bought it, but it seems pretty much the same as the other, earlier incarnations of Elite.
