Whatever Louie's faults are, he at least from time to time shows redeeming qualities. Louie is a saint compared to his evil; brother (who doesn't care about their mother). Louie also shows his good side in "Jim the Psychic" and "A Grand Gesture." As bad as Louie gets sometimes, other times you want to embrace him.
I had the same argument with my brother this past Mother's Day, right down to the Taco (Bell) Palace line. But something in this episode still bugs me: how was Alex so sure he'd win with three sixes? Nicky had two jacks showing; Alex had no jacks and Nicky could've flipped one. But still, I love how 'aces and jacks' lost to three sixes. "You lose"
Complete bullshit that they fired Andy Kaufman before this episode was able to air. "Tony Clifton" would have been way better for this character than this second rate gangster trash. I don't give a fuck that Andy was bat shit insane and method acted to the extreme. It was necessary for making real art. Its too bad television producers back then couldn't understand that.
Nah, younger brother was a phenomenal actor & as Danny DeVito tells it, Andy-as-Tony was so off-the-wall he pissed everyone to hell off, including Judd Hirsh, everyone was looking forward to him getting fired that day -- good riddance to Tony, complete right call to not be harassed & made for great TV.
I loved this show, it could be very sweet and heartfelt but never lost its teeth.
Anyone notice Alex had Three 6’s
666 on a winning hand....
during a Christmas episode?
That’s some Twisted writing
One of just many great episodes from Taxi
*what a pretty Christmas tree*
Taxi brilliant. Hysterical writing.
The writing in this episode is incredible!
Devito is the king
this was the episode that was supposed to have Tony Clifton (Andy Kaufman) as Louie's brother . he (Tony) was fired off the set.
My favorite episode of my favorite television show. Sometimes miracles happen on Christmas Eve.
I remember watching this
Taxi is about a bunch of lovable losers. but at christmas time, one of them becomes a winner

Adjusted for inflation $4,300 in 1978 is equal to $17,000 in 2018.
Three sixes, in the Xmas episode. Of course.
What is it with da Jews and the three 6s ... Kurshner 666
I thought the same thing. No coincidence.
In an alternative universe .... Tony Clifton would have made Gin Rummy !!!!
$200 for 3 weeks in Vegas?
It wouldn't last a couple of hours now
Lot of sting bets (raises)
Not no taco palace 😂
This just shows you how stupid gambling is

Three sixes wasn't that great a hand to be betting so much money on.
