Taxi was one of my all time favorite comedy series of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. My favorite role and actor was Reverend Jim! Elaine Nardo was my crush during those years. Great show!
I loved the show Taxi.. I got to meet Tony Danza on his show Who's the boss. We talked about both of us being from New York. He was extremely kind and humble.
Marilu Henner had an unusual gift. She is a 1 in a 100 million person that has “Hyperthymesia”. It is basically a total recall of every experience a person has ever had. It’s far beyond photographic memory. Not only can she remember every word she reads and everything she sees, but can recall every detail of every day.
Wow I did not know that. Her (night) dreams must be absolutely crazy. There are approximately 61 people worldwide that have been identified as having it. Just did a quick search on the subject.
Yes you should watch, "Unforgettable" the tv series that stars Poppy Montgomery. It's about another beautiful redhead with the same condition thats a cop. Marilu guest stars in a few episodes too.

I saw some type of special where Marilu is being interviewed about this ability and I always insert it in conversations about her yet nobody seems to be aware of it. Just talking about it seems kind of cool but watching her give examples is like mind blowing. In this interview she was going back in time and discussing a typical day in her life in the 70s like it was yesterday. For example they would show a clip from one of the earliest episodes (which took place in the 70s) and she could recall the exact day and time that the particular scene was shown. She'd could even go a step further and recall the clothes she wore to work that day , errands that she ran after or before work , even what she had for lunch. It's really cool to watch and always thought it would be cool to have someone like that in your life that could remind you of some of your past.
Great episode! However, as a former cab driver, I can guarantee you that driving a cab is ANYTHING but 'monotonous and boring'. But, unfortunately, it's not nearly as funny as the show made it.
@@dcasper8514 One that stands out is an accident I had. We worked six 12 hour shifts per week. If you're behind the wheel for that long, you'll have accidents, no matter how careful you are. Most of them are just fender benders, but not all of them. I worked in a university town. One Saturday night/Sunday morning, I picked up two students who had been out partying. The lived at different addresses. After I'd dropped the first one off, I was driving to the second fare's address. I was on a major residential street. The speed limit was 35 mph. I was obeying the limit and being observant as I always was, when suddenly a car crossed the centre line at 80 mph (estimated by the investigating officers) and hit me head on. I don't remember the impact, but I must have jerked the wheel to the left, because he hit me slightly to the right of centre. He put the engine in the passenger seat next to me. I took out the steering wheel with my chest, the dashboard with my knee and the gearshift with my forehead. If I hadn't jerked the wheel, the engine would have ended up in my lap and I wouldn't be typing this now. I still have a scar on my forehead and a partial disability from 'dashboard knee'. We'll never know what caused it, since the other driver didn't survive. My passenger ended up with a small cut. I had six months of physical therapy and my knee still bothers me 25 years later. So definitely NOT 'monotonous and boring'!
What else can you say, you pretty much said it all. Taxi is one of my all-time favorite TV show also. And I still enjoy to this day watching the reruns of Taxi.
I know I'll be accused of being "woke" or something but this video couldn't be any more sexist. Marilu Henner's Elaine Nardo was as big and significant a character on that show as any of the male characters and this video just totally ignored her contribution. It's so blatantly misogynistic I don't know how they can justify it.
It was the Seinfeld of its time and made me laugh so hard at times. Ignatowski and Latka were so funny and weird in their own ways. Classic New York style comedy! And the writing was so good! Clever and witty storylines and funny one liners.
Doing something stupid like Conaway did with drugs when they're about to shoot an episode was suicidal - it costs the producers a LOT of money, and I'd bet they knew previously that he had a drug problem and thus had warned him about it. He'd been known as a drug user since the first season, and at some point, with Conaway unable to kick the habit despite being previously treated professionally for it.
Taxi,WKRP,Barney Miller,Fantasy Island,Threes Company TV was great back then. Great theme Songs and so funny. I used to have a crush on Elaine. Yeah BTW no mention of Marilu Henner, you got the Artist right but the Correct title was "Angela"
I enjoyed watching the show. Rev Jim is amazing when he’s only acting like a brain fried person. He went on to be a great producer and director. Louie depalma is remembered as a low life. He was so good at it. I waited for the others to step up but they didn’t. These two actors went on to bigger and better things.
I always assumed they named the character Tony because he wouldn't remember his character name. It is hysterical that they all thought the same thing and made that his name!
I don't understand - all those Emmys and yet it ran for only 5 years? Was it because the ratings declined so much even though it was a great show according to the critics?

Taxi was the first of four series Judd Hirsch starred in for the original Paramount Television, followed by Dear John, George & Leo, and NUMB3RS, thought the latter was only produced by Paramount in its first two seasons. ABC, NBC, and CBS aired at least one of these shows each. Come 2023, Hirsch should star in a Paramount Television Studios production on Fox, which would complete having been in a Paramount production on all four major networks. A good role for him would be an Irish-American lawyer, whose last name can be Murphy, leading the show to be called "Murphy's Law" - a reference to the adage of the same name.

I'm angry that they did this to themselves when they were so loved and had so much to live for, I am just angry for the fact that they made us sad and we will always miss them! This could of been so avoided! I'll never understand how someone who had so much going for them could just pretty much be so careless to end their lives so soon on stupid choices! Still miss these fine actors today.

For the record, you have confused the episode name "Blind Date" with character "Angela" in it with the song by Bob James named "Angela".

7:43 that's completely incorrect. The theme song used for the show is called Angela. Blind date is a completely different song and was never in Taxi.
It's not. He was referencing the Taxi episode title. Watch that part again. He's dead on. "Blind Date" is NOT a Bob James song at all.

He died from lung cancer in 1984, but wasn't on TV when he died.
