    Today we are on the Crick, its cold its winter, and I am going to share with you some of my top producing winter flies. In my opinion, the weight of your fly, and the drift that you are making without spooking the fish is just as important as the fly itself. Whats naturally in the stream right now theres not too many bugs at least on these stocked freestone streams. There is some caddis and small midges and little stuff, thats why I tend to fish smaller stuff at that time of the year. So the first fly is a Caddis Pattern. A caddis variation and caddis nymphs like a walts worm. Most of the streams in Pennsylvania and around the world have caddis flies. Why not fish caddis patterns, they are easy to tie. I like to fish drab patterns without a lot of flash that hopefully won’t spook the fish. The second fly would be a Olive Thread Body. Third is Lance Egans Rainbow Warrior. I like to have at least one wintertime searching pattern with some flash. Fourth fly would be a micro egg fly. Eggs are a good pattern to fish in conjunction with small nymphs as the material of the egg fly will help the flies not to stick on the bottom in slow water. The last fly would be a stone fly. I chose the Zone Stone.

    I rarely like and hardly ever comment. This is straight forward, excellent advice. Many folks talk too much and say nothing. Well done sir.

    Thanks for the great advise and great videos¡¡ Your stone fly was working wonders now in April in the Pliva and Ribnik. On cold (snow melt) and high but cristal clear water.

      Same question here!! I paused the video and it definitely looks simple. Biots for tail and legs. Maybe peacock herl body, and scruffy collar. In any case, I’m going to tie something to that effect.

    The rainbow warrior completely contradicts your opening talking points from 0.00 to 1:30. Are you a millennial? I can personally attest that your concern about flash spooking fish, which you abandon at 1:30--is subjective nonsense.

    • @TroutYeah
      @TroutYeah  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the comment. Not sure exactly what you are saying/ asking. But, concerning flash or anything bright. I rarely fish stuff to flashy. Most of my flies are dull and very simple. As for a millennial, I was born in 1989. Hope you have a good fishing season!
