    I have found a slim gold rib hares ear with a clear or smoke bead head on a jig hook is my year round go to fly

    • @FlyingTies

      That sounds like a killer pattern

    While I have my own "5 favs," I have to say this was really fun to watch and I like the rationale behind each fly. Of course whatever waters we fish have a lot to do with our selection, but the rationale is very similar. Great vid amigo!

    Great list. I'd go rainbow warrior, red dart, San Juan worm, jig prince, and definitely "Egan" steamer. Lance credits Walt Weiss in the tutorial, to be fair.

    Perdigon is my fav. I don’t fish as big of rivers as you do. But the sink rate. Makes them drop in places no other fly will get to. Other then that, thread Frenchie or blowtorch. But if I see a nice hole where I think a big trout could be laying I always will tie on that jig. And a soft hackle on the dropper usually. Essentially the same list. Except my experience with Perdigons is never a miss. Unless the fish are high in the water column.

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah for sure, nice. I only said it’s hit or miss on that pattern because it’s a bright attractor type pattern. Frenchie and blowtorch are so solid

    Rozas pink pheasant tail, rozas green tag, Spanish bullet quill, purple Duracell, peacock Perdigon. Same home river😉

    I make that same Lance Egan streamer but with a 5mm faceted bead and pink hot spot. Gets down and seems to work well. I really like the Hare&Copper and tungsten taco egg

    Great list. I count on the pheasant tail, hare's ear, wooly bugger and a kiwi muddler. Late last season I started learning about the flies you use and it seems my catch rate has increased. Fun to tie and exciting to use. Thanks for sharing your list.

    A good selection and thanks for the reasoning. I would add a flashback pheasant tail in claret and a hair and copper but I'm sure your flies would deceive just as many Kiwi trout. Thanks from down-under.

    I saw a Orvis recon euro rod, what are your opinions on it? Good stick ?

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is the 10' 2wt. It's a great rod, but it is a bit on the slower side. If that's what you are into I would say to go for it

      @@FlyingTies how much of a difference is there between the highway end contact 2 and hardy rods, versus a mid level rod ? Is it worth it ?

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest difference is in rod weight and accuracy. If you are just starting out I would say it's not worth it, but if you have been fishing this way for a few years you will appreciate the differences.
