    Jay leno"s Garage is the best show on TH-cam No other show comes close to the amount of content that he puts out with each one of his episodes. Its not just about the cars, its also about the amazing people that are behind the making of these works of art and amazing machinery, and the history of it all, and he grasps each and everyone of those points every time. Great Series Jay, keep up the Great work. I just wanted to let you know all of us enjoy your work and this hobby, thanks for sharing!

  • @garydunn3037
    @garydunn3037 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    It's a great looking car, but chopping the roof down is going to make it difficult for
    anyone over 5 feet from actually getting behind the wheel. Incidently, I love the
    paint job, its a really deep looking red that really suits the lines of the car.

    • @CreedK
      @CreedK 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anyone over 5 feet? Are you serious? Jay Leno is 5.11, and this guy is probably 6.2-6.6. That is well over 5 feet dude. I agree on the paintjob, but I would have gone with the black boss 302 hood and rear decklid (why is the hood matte red? ew) without the side hockey stick decals.

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Creed Killa Is Jay Leno 5.11 he seems smaller than that on screen. I'm 5.11
      but I'm very thin, which makes me appear taller. On the subject of the Mustang,
      I think the car would have looked better if he had kept it stock, and had not made
      the roof lower. I understand that is what you Americans like to do, custom cars.

    • @CreedK
      @CreedK 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary Dunn Yea as ^ said the guy is 6.6, that is why Jay looks short. Not all Americans like hot rods and chopped roofs btw. Usually I would agree with you and keep the roof stock, but this roof is chopped just right. Not too short to hurt visibility or space, not too tall to look stock. The 1969 Mustang is my favorite car of all time, but there are only two things that I don't like abut it: the overall performance could have been better, and the back of the fastback roof line sloped down very sharply when (viewed from a certain angle). This car solves both of those problems, the back slopes down more gradually like the 67, and the modern models.

    So much hate for a beautiful car, let me see what you drive people, because it probably doesn't look cooler than this. I would understand the criticism if this guy took a Boss 302 or GT350 and chopped it into this, but this thing was probably just a frame with rusty panels (that was formerly just a basic model). I would have done basically the same exact thing with this, except modernized the interior a bit more, had a black boss 302 hood and decklid, maybe done a slight window tint (to protect the glass keep out glare and get rid of the super clear old glass look, but not do the super dark window lowrider look).

  • @ronbridges678

    Love love love the Mustang!! I drive an 03 GT with an 03 Cobra engine. It's tricked out with 4 11 gears Tremec trans. Ford racing clutch and from the cross over it has a 3" stainless exhaust. I do love the exhaust note!!
    It took me 5 years to build. I hurt my back and both knees in a motorcycle accident so I don't drive it alot. My granddaughter is 14 and she's wanting the car for her first car!!! LOL I told her that I would buy her a V-6 to learn how to drive a standard.
    I am a new subscriber and I love all your shows! Your knowledge is endless. Keep on keeping on Jay!!!!! From another Ford fan!!!

  • @O-plaat
    @O-plaat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Why ruin that starliner his interior? One of the things I love most about classic cars is their good looking interior and comfortable seats. He removed it all, if you want a new car buy one because I really can't see the point in having a classic car if you change the engine and interior with a new one?

    • @thomascampr
      @thomascampr 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      joeracer302 There a lot of old fords going for millions of dollars. First cobra over 10 millions. So yes fords are selling at fine art prices. Its rolling art.

    • @joeracer302
      @joeracer302 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      thomascampr The Cobra wasn't a Ford, it was a Shelby, and more accurately it was a British car manufacturer, AC Cars who designed and made the chassis. Shelby just crammed a Ford V8 in it. Plus they don't sell for millions because they are art, even if that's why we think they are. Certainly the aesthetics of the car certainly come into play when determining desirability, but it's the rarity and availability that drive the price.

    • @O-plaat
      @O-plaat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shane Barrios
      Cars from the 60s their interior has a certain class, and a high level of detail in every chrome switch, button,.... its all plastic or plastic with a leather wrap these days.
      No design no emotion.
      People like him that want a classic because it looks nice but they want the way it feels, runs, drives, corners like a new don't deserve a classic in my opinion, Its kinda like putting a Prius engine in a Laferrari because you like the looks but not the mileage.
      And If you ever sat in those 60s leather seats you'd know that those new square seats don't come near the sitting comfort.

    Some people might like this but I think its ugly...Its alittle too "West coast customs" and I hate that

    • @joeracer302
      @joeracer302 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree with the sentiment, but I appreciate the custom work in this car. I really like good metal work in customs, it's truly a artisan skill. Myself though, building a car, I'd probably keep the looks almost 98% original, changes to the suspension and brakes to modernize it along with wheels can really compliment a mostly stock looking car. I just wouldn't want to cruise around in anything too flashy, mostly just because I like to keep it classy ;) That's just my style and what I would want to roll around in, but I still have a lot of appreciation for customs like this :)

      I think you all have Low-T syndrome, with all due respect. This car still looks VERY authentic, I know because my daily driver is a stock 69 fastback. From the side, besides the more athletic stanced roof (which is awesome), it's basically identical. Like him and Jay said, it's kinda hard to even tell it's modified. This is like an original 69, that can put another 69 to shame. I'm doing my roof too.

    • @nickhelfrich675
      @nickhelfrich675 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      cybertree Kinda hard to tell its modified!!? this thing is an abomination, youre obviously insaine

    • @cybertree
      @cybertree 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's spelled "insane", sorry had too lol, just kidding. Seriously if you were to see this going down the road alongside mine, they'd look nearly identical (at first glance). Obviously they look quite different when everythings pointed out to you though. This guy basically made his own vehicle, and used the 69's body, all he did was lower the roof, and lengthen the hood. I really don't see how it's an "obomination" for making it look a little more athletic. I'm not insane lol, uncalled for sir.

    Bodie seems like one cool ass dude who just HAPPENS to know what the hell he's doing when it comes to building custom rides. He also seems to have ONE HELL of an eye for style and cleanliness. Damn...wouldnt mind being a friend of his. Nevermind having him build me a car...just knowing him and his talent would be enough for me, cause i know i wouldnt be able to afford the stuff he builds...as much as i would like to.

    what a cool episode. Bodie is a great builder, that's for sure. That Mustang is awesome! Perfect! The chop looks good... just enough but not too much. The Starliner was cool, too. That was about as daring as Ford was willing to go with tailfins, actually TAIL WINGS.. In the starliner's case, much less pronounced compared to the '59 & '60 Chevy's wings. I agree with Bodie that the best customs don't have to be radical... sometimes less is better rather than change for the sake of change. Great show, Jay, and keep up the good work Bodie.

    I'm not a fan of most body customizations, but I admire and appreciate that the engine swap on this car is using a period engine, not the generic modern LS swap.
    Not exactly a commonly available period engine, but a period engine nonetheless. So it gets cool and cred points for that.

    I dig it. I can respect the fact that it takes a ton of time to make it look like a stock-ish car, same with the Starliner. Had a good laugh at Jay asking if a bigger pulley was going on the Starliner......a smaller pulley will create more power. :)
