Don't return it .....this was your first go round just watch in a month you're gonna be making breakfast ,lunch and dinner on that slab and I put that on everything
Got to get that griddle HOT. Wide open. You want it smoking. Use flax seed oil. Pour a bit of oil on the griddle, dip a paper towel in the oil, use tongs to apply oil. It'll smoke and stink...flax seed will give almost a fish oil smell. Cover everything. The top, sides, front, back, outside of cook top. Let burn for at least 10 minutes. Repeat at least four times. I did 10 times. Process was an hour and a half. After seasoned, cook a whole pound of bacon. It'll give a black, glass like sheen. To resurface, use a scraper, sandpaper and a pressure washer. Get it all off, wash with soap and water, then DRY IMMEDIATELY....then season. Simple clean with a scrapper and water, with heat on high. Always clean after each cook. Turn heat off....coat with oil every time.
I always use corn oil. I can’t stand that flax seed smell. It just bakes into my clothing and follows me until I wash it all out. The smoke point of corn oil is also way higher which, in my experience, makes seasoning your surface a bit more forgiving, it just takes longer. I’m also vegan, so I don’t use meat/animal fat to finish my seasoning. Usually a generous amount of chopped onions, peppers, zucchini, and some tofu with a splash of sesame oil will do the trick. Plus you get a pretty solid basic stir fry once you’re done. A high firmness tofu is also just a really good tool which I used when I was first trying to figure out how to season my flattop. Especially if it’s been pressed, if your surface isn’t properly seasoned, it will stick and crumble as soon as it hits heat. A little water and a scraper will take off any residue if you need to.
Corn oil does have a higher smoke point; true. However flax seed produces a much harder polymerization. You want that glass like hard surface. A higher smoke point oil will be more soft. As for the rest, you lost me at "I'm also vegan." But, you do you. Happy cooking.
@@UnforgivenTrucker I know the fat content is much higher in flax seed oil, so maybe I’ll give it another try next time I reseason. I’ve never let a flax seasoning stay for very long.

Looks like you did a fabulous job for your first time! 👏👏
Nah, don't return it. There's just a learning curve. You're doing something new. You'll get it down and be wondering why you ever panicked in the first place. It's the thought that counts. You're cooking for your family and ya can't go wrong with that.
Honestly those burgers still looked super good not a fail but you’ll get better at it the more you use it keep going
The first go around will always be tough, just stick to it and learn from your mistakes on the grill and learn your grill!! You’re doing great!
This how you get better. You shared what you even said wasn’t the best experience. It’s only up from here and shoutout to your husband being supportive too. Solid family unit right here
Husband comes out while wife is grilling 🤔 real supportive lol they got there roles all mixed up 😂
Well done. Self confidence is the willingness to show up as you are! Life takes practice ⭐️
Fries on a griddle 🍟 😂😂😂
Right? Like sorry but this person has zero idea how to cook anything.
Yeah I was saying it's like putting light oil on a stainless steal pan and putting frozen fries in it lmao smh
Don’t worry, you’ll get better❤
Let’s be clear, you are not dumb. We all have to grow and learn. What we say about ourselves and how we talk to ourselves matter. You are a very smart and highly intelligent woman whose still learning.
Simp
“Whose” shows possession who’s is a contraction for “who is”
@@8wrldzz auto correct. I am at a place in life , I don’t sweat the small things. Try it sometimes.
Not the husband complaining as to what’s taking her so long 😭 he could’ve helped from the very beginning
Maybe it was curiosity not complaining. If food was taking too long I’d be wondering the same thing. Like “let me help you. Did you forget to turn the stove on?” Which has happened multiple times. Shit just happens. He helped her out. Plus she wanted to do it herself. She wanted to learn. She thought she knew better and didn’t. It’s ok to make mistakes. Doesn’t mean everyone has to run to your rescue. You have to make mistakes to learn. Next time she will remember. Next time she will do better. And who knows maybe HE Doesn’t know how to use one either. Not every man was born knowing how to use a grill or a flattop.
@@Naturebabino one said every man was born to use a grill LMDAO. the point is why even rush her.
@@whoandwhyareyouhere Y'all don't know anything mind your own business, the guy was barely in the video and y'all h8ting on him just because of what SHE said
@scpower so you are telling me that women can't use a grill? Lol. If she was excited to do it, good on her for trying.
@@whoandwhyareyouhere was he really rushing her or asking a question. Was my point.
