Just finished painting my boat trailer. Basically used the same method you did. My trailer is “C” channel construction and using a 2-1/2” wire cup in there was effective. One idea I had was to use a spray bottle to apply the degreaser which worked great and was easy to get enough degreaser on the frame without overdoing it.
I've used Rust-Oleum 7777502 Protective Enamel Paint, Black Satin Finish and found it to be as good as the John Deere paint mentioned in the video, but far easier to obtain and a little cheaper.
Between coats I take my roller off the handle and drop it in the paint so I can use it on several coats. I’ve painted a truck and several tractors with this method. Between coats (give it a day or two)I lightly block sand and remove about 1/2 of the orange peel then apply another coat. I usually do three coats with the last coat I do not sand. The nice part about using a roller is there is no overspray in my garage.
My dad told me to use tin foil when I change the oil on my riding mower. He said use it as a spout to direct the oil. Definitely helped a lot compared to the first time I did it and ended up with oil everywhere.
Nice Job, only i'm missing the primer here. After a good cleanup i use a havy duty primer, cauz the trailer is always outside and only painting it 2 coatings is not holding the rust out of the paint. Using a primer ( hamorite) is prefereble i think.
Thank you! The type of paint I used, it doesn't require a primer. Depending on which paint you're using, refer to the instructions as to what is required.
The only products that were used was the wax and grease remover which is just a cleaning solvent. And the other was farm implement paint, the stuff I got was specifically from John Deere. They only have one type of implement paint, just the colors vary.
@@leadpill8333 almost all equipment paint is just oil based paint. Almost every paint place has it. About eight bucks a quart for Rust-Oleum at lowes here.

Turned out great. All of your prep work here was the key.
Thank you so much!
Thanks bro, I'm going to use this method to freshen up my trailer hitch!
No problem!

Great tips, thank you for sharing!
Great job man that looks really good. Will be doing my trailer this week. Thank you for help
Excellent to hear and thank you!
Awesome job, thanks for sharing. What was the name of the cleaning product you used before painting
great job - very well explained, gave me some good options. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful and thank you for the feedback!
I like the tin foil idea, I’ve never thought of that before.
Definitely, great idea.

Yeah me too
thanks mate, that was very useful
No problem, happy I could help!
beautiful job
Thank you!
I'm going to try and refurbish an old rusty stock trailer. do you know where I can get new parts for the tongue latch?
Great video with great advice thank you for posting

Nice!!! Thanx for sharing 😊
Great video if a trailer has flakes with rust and has been cleaned properly with a wire brush do need to use a primer on the surface

What about the frame under trailer
What was that yellow rectangular can that you dripped a few drops into the paint? Great video thanks for the tips
Thank you! That's a paint reducer.
Im doing a 75ft trailer. It’s gonna take me a while to remove the rust
What was the actual name or type of paint? Nice!
I am not 100% sure but I believe it is John Deere Blitz Black paint. My dealer said that is what the matte black was called
You rock
Can you share the name of the paint? I watched the video twice and viewing the video description, but didn’t hear or see the name of the paint.
Did you do two coats or is one enough?
Great!!!
Thank you!
My buddy got a wire from a wire wheel in the eyeball.
He was in a lot of pain.
Safety glasses are a must.
Great job! Love that accent btw. Are you from Maine?
Thank you! Nope, I'm from Canada.
What paint did you use? Primer?
No primer, the paint I used can be applied directly to metal. It's a farm implement paint, to be specific it's from the John Deere dealer.
NICE NICE WOW
Exellent
Thank you!
Is this some kind of magic paint
Could be, I really like the stuff. It's a bit more pricey, but it's worth it in the end.
Just wanted to know what product did you use,the name of it and the other product plz
