Ultralight Drifter Experience

  • We've had the trip in the Boeing 767 cockpit, so for something a bit different, is some minimilism. Drifters, and a couple of other ultralights at an airshow/flying at Massie Field (Warwick, southeast Queensland) sometime in the '80's. Sorry about the wind noise in the in-flight segment, but that's what it's like in/on one of those. The footage is from a friend of mine, Mark Agnew.

    very cool. it's 2022 and I've only just discovered drifters. I love them!

    Formation. Tanys was flying her single seat maxair drifter. Bill was in the green certified 2 seat Austflight 503 drifter. Dave and John were flying their own single seat homebuilt machines. Which they all flew around quite safely for thousands of hours collectively for years. Recreational Aviation can learn from this. We have lost our way! Good memories.

      Thanks for that information. That was quite a few years ago and the state of play with lock downs and problems crossing the borders due to the Covid fears, it'll be a while before we get back to social fly-ins and other gatherings.

    now I'm not an aeronautics expert by any means but I do believe it would be risky as hell for 2 crafts to be taking off side by side
