I love the remark "Its not that hard" first off the xacto knife cutting straight edges, not easy. Your just good! If I have to I'll use one. I have a table router set up with a fence to take off 1/16". To many times the grain split or broke off on me. Beautiful work gents. Ive been doing this 40 + yrs and love watching someone else doing this, and with obvious love for the work.

What a great guest Scott was, thank you for putting him on your show Matt, a worthy watch as per usual. His presentation is probably the best I’ve yet seen and I have seen quite a few but none as simple and straight forward as this, thanks again. Must also add that your work in presenting what to do with it afterwards was up to your usual excellent standards Matt. Overall another outstanding video, not quite as much so as your credenza video which was “out standing” in the snow but then I do digress, hmmm, yeah, I know, Aussie humour hey :)
Thanks once again Matt, great work, great project, continue to enjoy and to share what you enjoy please mate, you are without a doubt the best woodworker out there and I love learning from you, thanks muchly.
Ps as a side issue, you may want to consider the “mostly printed cnc” (MPCNC) on thingiverse. If you have access to a 3D Printer you can make most of the machine yourself as I am in the process of doing. It’s a brilliant project and comes in at under 500 us I’m told though for us Aussies the shipping kills the project unless you really want one like I did. Worth a look as you don’t have to pay the same as the parts in shipping costs on top so should be worthwhile. Anyway, have a great day mate, take care 😎👌

Matt, I like the fact that you created the clamping system for the edging. Always good to try different techniques, but I did wonder why a clamping strap couldn't have been used as well. And then you spoke about it. Great woodworking and video!

And one day, Robots will make everything out of plastic that dissolves in a year so we have to go out and buy a new one made by newer robots out of the latest plastic. BUT IT WON'T BE WOODWORK. And pieces made by craftspeople back in the day will be housed in museums and people will marvel at their patience and skill. Fun and informative as usual. I made a little box using veneer and contact adhesive recently and I cringed when I learned I'd done the wrong thing. Learning all the time. Thanks for sharing Matt.

Excellent video. The Left Side of the Body is controlled by the Right Side of the Brain, therefore Left Handers are the ONLY ones in their Right Minds. Explains Scott's creativity. If you add a layer of shade cloth to the outer part of the sandwich, it helps get the last little bit of air out. Used all the time in boat building. The clamping pressure if you can get down to 0 Bar is 10335kg/m2. Make a good coaster for that well deserved beer. Just think of some of your slabs out back would make great veneer.

Hi Matt, that would make a great lazy suzan...and to me it looks perfect, yes perfect for a daily use, to me woodworking is making useful things, not perfect decoration, I have seen people making amazing cutting boards, but they do not use them, not to damage it, I find that useless.

Matt, you're the expert but what if you'd sanded the two joining places on the outside banding just a LITTLE for a total of about 1/32 before attempting the gluing? Would that have tightened it up? (You'd need a flat double sided sanding stick...) Similar to sawing through a miter joint to make the fit align. Loved this video.

So many experienced and "crazy" wood workers do all the stuff themselves, like you milling your own wood. Are there any really outrageous crazy wood workers who cut their own veneers? I've see how difficult it is and the expensive equipment used for "mass production" of veneer but is it possible to buy "pro-sumer" tools for doing your own veneer? Or would it be easier/cheaper to take batches of the wood you have to someplace that could cut it into veneer?
